” JANET ” (part 4)

Janet’s elder sister had been gisting with her neighbours at the other end of the compound. She had been carried away with the gist together with her bossom friend lizzy, whom have been squatting with her even before Janet’s arrival. Cecillia had wondered why she is not yet back but her friend lizzy, had told her not to worry that she is old enough to discern between right and wrong and so she kept cool and sojourned on with the evening gist.
She had not come to exchange pleasantries with anyone and all that matters at the moment was to relieve herself off smart’s demands and be blessed. To her luck have shined on her already as no one is in the room to offer any resistance. So everything is working as planned and ordained by nature.
She had gone inside unnoticed. She scampered for her sister’s ATM but couldn’t find it. She opened her sister’s small pause and brought out about five thousand naira in it. Unfortunately her sister had left her two phones inside the room so she collected the two; big and small together with her own android too. She searched for Lizzy’s phone but couldn’t find it maybe she is with it, she had thought and truely Lizzy was with her phone. She reached out to Lizzy’s small hand bag and ransacked it, she found eight thousand, five hundred and fifty naira inside it. There is no time to waste so she need not to waste time to avoid being detected.
She had gathered something and at least “this will go a long way “, she said to herself as she made her way out hurriedly and still unnoticed. She could hear her sister and her friend arguing with the other neighbours and had imagined the topic they are treating. She moved very fast and never looked back. She talked to no one and it was very unlike her; she greets alot and those whom knew her within the environment had wondered and concluded that maybe she is having a bad day and should left to be. She never cared or bothered about anyone, she must get to smart and commit all she had gathered unto his hands.
She reached the junction and smart upon sighting her was taken aback. He felt withdrawn once again. Janet was extremely beautiful and looked very innocent. she wasn’t the cause of his pitfalls and likewise oga Dona – the driver. Why must they pay for his downfall in such a manner. This is his first outing since that notorious Smith introduced him into this reckless and nonsensical act and moreso, smith had disappeaeed afterwards. Smith had been notorious all his life and was very unlike him, Smith was ” a never do well ” . so why will he agree to venture into this act and cause people more pains and sorrow. He had been imagining and as Janet drew closer, he felt more withdrawn and very remorseful.
” this is your first outing and everything is working well, so utilize this opportunity for once” , the other mind had reminded him.
” this isn’ t worth it ” his inner mind keeps telling him.
At this point, Janet had reached and entered the taxi with the help of smart , she sat down quietly.
” welcome ” smart said to her calmy
She brought out all she had gathered and said..
” these are all i could lay my hands on in a hurry “.
Smart replied..
” you have done well “.
” how about your parents ” smart inquired
She replied..
” they are in my hometown ”
” both of them ” , he asked confusely
She replied..
” Yes” . Janet stirred at Smart momentarily and their eyes jammed, she looked away .
Smart had believed earlier in his life that every evil doing requires consequences irrespective of the circumstances that led to it and is now on the verge of giving up and freeing himself from that bondage. Janet and oga Dona are dancing to his tunes and he needed to free them and explain things to them but how to go about it is now his greatest task. He needs to thread with caution and be careful enough so that it wont backfire on them and cause more damage. He needs to think and act fast and neutralize everything. He looked at Janet and took pity once again. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul as he had been subdued and had giving up completely.
he had schemed out a plan and that warrants him to take over the driving seat from oga Dona and fortunately for him, he can drive very well.
” oga Dona, i want to drive this vehicle myself ” he said hastily and got down immediately.
he replied..
” thats okay”
they exchanged seats and smart started driving instantly.
” everything is going to be fine soon” he said in a low tone.
there was silence. No one could utter a word anymore. Smart kept wondering about driving and finally parked at the entrance of a street in a cool and calm vicinity.
” please listen attentively and follow my directives to free yourself all ” ,he begged
he cant explain all his story to them in their current state of mind so they must be freed first before they can assimilate and acomodate those stories. He directed them to get down and take a walk down the street, as they are walking, they should count like 1, 2,3,……. to six(6) houses, the next house, they should touch any “leaf” or “flower” , they will be fine.
” remember , you must not look back or talk to anyone even to each other” he pleaded
” you might go mad or even paralysed if you do so, please walk straight and count just six houses ” he begged again, this time he was terified and wary of a possible backlash.
