#PROLOGUE
My name is Lilian but you can call me Lily, I’m not a good person, I’m not a hero, but a murderous b*tch, I’ve done a lot of awful and terrible things to people, I regret nothing and I don’t need anyone’s forgiveness.
My life has been rough since the beginning and that was how it continued going but the question I keep asking myself is, do I deserve a second chance in life? Do I need to be happy as everyone else in this world? Or do I need to be punished for what I’ve done?
Well you better all sit down and listen, cause I’m about to tell you my story.
I was born in Kano in the year 1993, my mom’s name is Lucy, she was the most wonderful person in the world, she cared for me and gave me whatever I wanted and she made sure I wasn’t out of her sight for a minute.
As far as I know, my birth was a mistake, My mom and dad met at the NYSC camp during their service, my dad promised to marry my mother after their service was over. Mom loved him so much, they started dating and lived together like they were married up to the point, they were having s*x with each other.
After the service, my mom got pregnant and she happily announced the news to my so called father, after he heard the news, he disappeared and was never to be seen again.
My mom felt heart broken, all the promise my dad made was nothing but pure lies, her family told her to abort the cursed pregnancy to start over again but she refused, she said she wouldn’t put the blame on an innocent child.
After they tried in vain to make her abort me, they left her alone to bear the consequences. My mom didn’t mind or care if they left her, she forgot about them and moved on with her life.
Thankfully, God was on my mom’s side, she got a lucrative job and with the money she managed herself.
Nine month later, she gave birth to me, her one and only joy, she was never so happy in her life, she named me after her grandmother which was Lilian , her colleagues from work came to see her in the hospital congratulating her, but none of her family members came, She still didn’t care about them.
After she was discharged from the hospital, she used some of her money to buy me the nicest and expensive baby toiletries money could by, she took care of me with all her heart, making sure I was never alone like she was.
Whenever I cried she would sing a little song calling me her White lily because I was fair in complexion, She didn’t hire a nanny to take care of me like the way other women did, she would always take me to her workplace, and everyone there would carry me around petting me.
When I was four years old, she enrolled me in school, at first I started crying when she wasn’t around but I soon got used to it, The teachers in my school loved me so much that they always bought gifts for me.
My mom always came early to pick me up, from school, despite the fact she was still busy at work, Her boss didn’t like what she was doing so he decided to make her choose either to hire a nanny or she should leave her job and just be taking care of me instead.

Boss β‘ Lucy, you’re a wonderful employee and a very hardworking woman, this company has never had such a loyal worker such as you and it would pain me to let you go just like that.
Going out to pick your daughter at school isn’t going to sit well with the directors of this company, sometimes you miss important meetings because of this.

Lucy β‘ But sir, I don’t have any body to take care of my white lily.

Boss β‘ Well you should hire a nanny!
.
Lily β‘ Sorry sir, I can’t afford to let someone take care of my lily, some people are dangerous, and she’s the only precious thing I have left.

Boss β‘ Well then, its either you hire a nanny to look after your daughter or leave this job and take care of your daughter fully.
.
Lucy β‘ If that’s how its going to be then I quit.
.
Boss β‘ You can’t be serious!?
.
Lucy β‘ I am sir, nothing in this life is important than my Lily, except God. Good day sir.
.
And that was it, she quit because of me, she didn’t care what becomes of her life but she had faith that God would provide for us.
With the salary money she had been saving, she opened up a provision store and thanks to God, the business was thriving successfully.
On my fifth birthday, My mom baked me a beautiful cake and brought me a lot of gifts, no one came to my party so my mom and I celebrated with each other.
Through out my life, I had always wanted to see my father, I once saw a picture of him together with my mom during their NYSC days, mom never spoke of him, she never insulted or cursed him, she only prayed that God should settle things between them; So on this day I decided to ask her.

Lucy β‘ Yes my beautiful white lily. What is it?
.
Lily β‘ Where is daddy?
.
My mom paused for a while, she flinched as if she was stabbed from behind, she pulled me close to her, rubbing my beautiful long hair, looking at me with a smile on her face.

Lucy β‘ Lily, daddy isn’t coming home.
.
Lily β‘ Why? Why won’t he come?
.
Lucy β‘ Well, let’s see, he’s moved on and has traveled very far.
.
Lily β‘ is he coming back?
.
Lucy β‘ I’m not sure, but maybe he’ll return oneday.
.
Lily β‘ Well, I don’t want you to travel that far without me. I want to be with you always.
.
Lucy β‘ Don’t worry, My white lily, I’ll never leave you, I’ll always be by your side.

Lily β‘ I love you, mom.
.
Lucy β‘ I love you more my white lily.
.
She hugged me tight as if she wasn’t going to let go, after that, we ate some slices of the cake, watched some cartoons before going to bed.
That day felt like the happiest day of my life, and I thought it would be like this forever but as all things, nothing lasts forever.
Later that night, I heard some noises in our living room, I shook my mom waking her up, she sat on her bed and rubbed her eyes looking at me.

Lucy β‘ Lily what is it?

Lily β‘ Mommy, there’s somebody in our parlor, is it daddy?
.
As soon as I said that, my Mom kept quiet and then she became alarmed, she quickly stood up and grabbed her GSM phone and dialed the police number, as soon as they picked he call, she told them the situation she was in, as soon as she finished the call, the thieves busted into the room, One of them rushed at mom and grabbed her pulling her hair, she screamed in pain begging them to stop, one of them gave her a slap on the face, grabbing her cheeks.

Thief 2 β‘ So you’re the sl*t trying to call the police abi?

Lucy β‘ Please no, I beg you don’t harm me and my daughter, just take what you want and go.
.
Thief 3 β‘ Bros let’s just take what we want and leave.
.
Thief 1 β‘ Shut up, you go down stairs and checked all the seats if there’s any hidden money.
.
As soon as he left, the others pinned down mom on the bed, removed their trousers and raped her
I didn’t know what they were doing until I was old enough, Mom didn’t shout for help or anything, she just lay there on the bed with her mouth shut, if she had resisted they might have done something terrible to her, I watched as the bastards shoved their d*cks into her, they were rough and mean, mom still couldn’t do anything but I saw tears falling from her eyes as they raped her.
After they were done, I pulled out from mom laughing and smiling after their evil task was accomplished, the other one who went to check the parlor came back with nothing.

Thief 3 β‘ Bros money no dey.

Thief 2 β‘ B*tch, where is the money?

Lucy β‘ Check that wardrobe.
.
As soon as mom told them where the money was, they ransacked the wardrobe and found the money they were looking for, they hailed and shouted in celebration.
As they were leaving, one of them touched my face, pulling me close to him.

Thief 2 β‘ This girl fine o, make we f**k her…. Argghhhh. my eye o
.
Before he could even finish his sentence, Mom rushed at him with a screw driver, she scared his face with it almost piercing his eye with it, She swung the screw driver at the other one, scaring his neck, they both shouted in pain, as mom was about to attack the third one, One of them shot mom from behind twice.
Mom fell on the floor, I rushed close to her touching her face. Her body was getting cold and her eyes were weak, the third thief was shocked as he saw what happened.

Third 3 β‘ Una dey craze? What is wrong with you?

Thief 1 β‘ Don’t you see she was trying to kill us?
.
Third 3 β‘ What do you expect? You were messing around with her daughter. God! You guys promised there will be no blood shed.
.
Thief 1 β‘ Look let’s leave before the police come o.
Me I don dey go.
.
One by one, they left the house leaving me alone with mom, everywhere was silent and dark, I tried to wake my mom but she couldn’t move, the bullets had hit her spine making her immobilized , she pulled me close to her, touching and rubbing my face, her eyes was filled with tears but she had a smile on her face.

Lily β‘ Mommy, are you alright?
.
Lucy β‘ Yes my white lily.
.
Lily β‘ Why are you crying?
.
Lucy β‘ My back is paining me that’s why.
.
Lily β‘ Are you going to be okay?
.
Lucy β‘ I will….. Don’t worry okay, everything is going to be alright! Remember I’ll always be with you..

Lily β‘ Always?

Lucy β‘ Always!

Lily β‘ Mommy!
.
Lucy β‘ Yes lily?
.
Lily β‘ Sing me my lily song!

Lucy β‘ Ok my dear.

Mom kept singing the song, till I was asleep in her arms, little did I know, this was going to be the last time I hear her sweet voice.
The next morning, I woke up close to Mom, I touched her body and it was cold, I looked at her face, she was smiling, she had died smiling. I did all I could to wake her up but she wasn’t stirring, I didn’t know when I started crying, I cried and cried begging her to wake up but it was of no use, she was long dead.
In that moment our neighbors came to our house, they were shocked when they was us on the floor, one of them came close to mom touching her body, he shook his head pitifully and asked one of them to call the police, Minutes later, the cursed bastards came, they checked the house asking me silly questions but I didn’t tell them anything except that, I wanted my mom to wake up.
One of the police officers felt sorry for me and pulled me close and told me my mom had gone to a safe place where she would never return.
As soon as I heard that, I rushed to where Mom was but she wasn’t there, An ambulance had come and put her body inside a body bag, trying to take her away!
I rushed to where her body was and cried holding the bag, telling her what she had promised me.

Lily β‘ *crying* Mommy! You promised you were going to stay with me forever, you promised, you told me that we’ll always be together, you promised please mommy don’t go, please don’t leave me alone like daddy did, please………..
.
Nothing I said or did was ever going to wake her up, after the ambulance had taken her body away, I fell on the ground and fainted.
