The experiences of life is like the experiences of those who ate the bones and the flesh of a meat. Those who ate the bones hardly forget the experience of the cracking teeth and the oozing of the bloodd from their darling gum, the painful experiences. Those that ate the bones will be constantly reminded of the tears, nightmares and the broken dreams but those who ate the flesh quickly forget the taste of their experiences because it was sweet with no scars. When you stays too long in the darkness, the light of the day become like a freedom and salvation. Life may be hard, harsh and agonising but like the day and night, bad times will always pass and a new day will come again.
To survive in the cruel world where nobody cares about the wellness of your day, you have to be stronger and enduring. 28 years Samuel Fidelis sat at the back of the house staring longingly at the darkening evening dying sun. He hummed a deep sigh and his mind travelled back to years ago. His mind flashed back to twenty two years ago his parents were killedd, the gory images replayed vividly in his mind. He could see those bloodd thirsty men shooting his parents. He could vividly see his mother throwing him down the window wishing him safety with bloodyy tears on her eyes. Samuel could clearly see his mother lying besides his father holding his lifeless hand in the pool if their own bloodd. It was such a terrifying experience for Samuel, for years he had lived in the terror of such memories. Samuel looked at his leg and the deep black scar left alive by the fall that night tore him apart. As the memories of his painful nightmarish past replayed in his mind, tears streamed down his eyes. His heart hurt, his soul burns and all that glowed in his heart was crueltyy. He want to squeezed out every ounces of happiness away from the penetrator of his parents murder. “Run, Jege” his mother’s bloodyy handwriting on the wall popped up in his mind again, it all looks like yesterday that it happened. He bite down tightly on his lips, he picked his phone from the table and quenched the cigarettes light. He sipped a little from his liquor and heaved a relieving breath. “How’s everything going over there!” Samuel asked over the phone as he paced the balcony slowly.
Years ago, Samuel was just a second minute away from the teeth of dying. He was just a finger away from the grip of deathd when fidelis came into his life. Fidelis took pity on the lonely and helpless six years old boy, to helped him lived, to give him another chance at life. Fidelis postponed his travel for a year and adopted Samuel, with Samuel bearing Fidelis name, it was easier for him to prepared his travel documents.
Fidelis took Samuel and treated him like his own bloodd. He gave him the best of education and Samuel had never showed any signs of ungratefulness towards his saviour. He calls him Dad.
Ten years ago, fidelis got married to a Canadian woman who birthed him a son. The woman was more than a supporter when she heard about what happened to Samuel. With fidelis and his wife teaming up with Samuel to exact a great deal of revenge on Mr Jege, Samuel’s sadness had a glimpse of happiness.
Graduating as the best graduate from a business management course, Samuel wasn’t just running ahead to revenged his parents, he was ready in all ways. For years now, Samuel had been studying the progress and movement of the BEICO CONSTRUCTION LIMITED underground. Through several proxy holders, Samuel had bought over 15 percent of the company’s shares, the highest any individual ever hold. Chairman Jege had worried and questioned the intentions of the anonymous buyers who always buy the company’s shares. When he delegated a group of people to find out the secret buyers, they traced the details to a fifty three years old insurance workers. “Madam, we noticed you have been anonymously buying our company’s shares without showing your face. If you don’t mind, can you tell me your aims!” Chairman Jege asked as he stared directly at the woman’s eyes to study her facial expressions. “so you’re the chairman of BEICO CONSTRUCTION LIMITED?. I have heard people praising your charismatic aura, i must confess, you’re truly magnificent. Well, i have no further or hidden intention as to why i buy your company’s shares. I have a nephew whose parents were gruesomely killedd by armed robbers when he was just six years old, With the money left by his parents, i want to use it to secure a reliable and dependable future for him and from my research, BEICO CONSTRUCTION LIMITED have the established foundation for his safety. That’s the only reason i can’t help but buy shares everytime i could”. The woman said with mischievous smiles as she sipped her juice. Chairman Jege felt a bit relieved but they was something that reminded him about Samuel, Idoko’s son. “nah, i must be overthinking things ” he thought aloud as he walked out of the restaurant after bidding goodbye to his guest.
“Dad, i will be leaving for Nigeria in two days time. I can’t expressed how grateful I feel right now, i don’t know what to say that will sound like enough gratitude but i want to let you know that i won’t let you down” Samuel thanked fidelis for everything he had done for him. “I know they is a heavy rock in your heart and nothing anyone will say that will be strong enough to discourage you so, i want you to know that, I’m rigidly behind you. Call me whenever you need more money to fight your battle ” fidelis told him as they discussed about his next step.
Samuel was a man of two shades, a blooddy vampire and a gentle sailor. He was calm but brutall, he was rational but dangerous and as long as revenging his parents was concerned, whoever stood on his path won’t be spared.
“I’m coming to Nigeria tomorrow, compile all the details you have gathered so far, the tiniest of them all must not be omitted” Samuel spoke authoritatively over the phone but Rose’s response was absurd. They was something different about Rose’s voice.”why are you sounding so shakingly?” Samuel questioned but she assured Samuel everything was fine.
Rose began to have cold feets when her emotions began to get swayed towards Donald. Working in the same space for five years with Donald had changed Rose’s emotions. Donald was a calm, hardworking and lovely young man, he fell deeply in love with Rose and he showered her with great assurance and as time went on, Rose began to dream of having him in her arms. During the company’s annual party celebration, Donald mustered the heart to asked Rose out. “in all my life, i haven’t seen a lady so alluring and beautiful as you. Your attitude towards your duty and your calm nature have captured my heart. I love you and i can’t hide it anymore, please Rose, be my woman!!” Donald asked as he sat across her looking directly at Rose’s eyes. Every words that came out of Donald’s mouth were like fire, it quickened her heart and she felt the butterflies in her heart. She wished to say yes but remembering why she was brought to the company, she feared for what to say. She was in a great dilemma about what to do. Samuel saved her life when she had nowhere to go years ago but right now, her love life matters too.
