TOO HARD TO LET GO

I didn’t understand what was happening at that moment.

“What are you doing?, have you gone out of your senses?”. I asked, silently.

“What does it look like?. She smiled

… I want to take good care of you tonight”. She whispered into my ear, rubbing her body gently against mine.

“This is not right”. I muttered.

“Why?, you’re my husband”. She whispered, biting my ear softly.

“Stop thi… “. I was going to say, before she shut me up with a warm kiss.

My strength failed me at that moment. The Deborah I was seeing was a total stranger from the one my mother vouched for. She wasn’t the same person I have been taunting for weeks.

She pinned me to the wall, as she worked her way down my n*****s. I lost control of my senses at that moment. I didn’t know when I swept her up her feet and carried her back to the bedroom….the rest na history.

When I opened my eyes again, she was sleeping soundly, wrapped in my arm. I pushed her away, and sat up.

She rubbed her eyes for moment before opening them.

“Honey”. She smiled at me.

“What did you do to me?”. I asked.

The smile on her face vanished.

“Please, Douglas, don’t spoil this beautiful moment for us. Try to be happy for once”. She pleaded.

Oh!, she now calls me by my name, no longer ‘Sir’. I wondered.

“I should be happy that you entered into my room and seduced me into sleeping with you?”. I asked, raising my voice a bit.

“You know what?. I was expecting you to say that I came into your room and r@ped you. She said, smiling mischievously. She then, moved closer to me, and held my hand.

…has anyone ever told you how sweet you are?”. She asked, still smiling.

I threw her hand away.

“What is wrong with you, this night?”.I asked.

She dragged the duvet from me, leaving me, sitting n***d beside her.

“Wow!” She exclaimed.

“You’re obviously drunk or possessed”. I said, got down from the bed and rushed into the bathroom.

I stepped into the bathtub and laid down, thinking about my life.

This was not the life I planned to live I thought, but fate is really dealing with me.

I must have stayed in that for more than fourty minutes , before I showered and went back to the room.

Deborah was arranging her clothes into the wardrobe.

“What are you doing,?”. I asked.

“What does it look like?.I’m moving in with my husband”. She answered.

“Come, are you always like this?, or you just changed overnight?”. I asked.

“It doesn’t matter. Just stop being hard on me, I promise you are going to enjoy me”. She blew me a seduct!ve kiss, and continued what she was doing.

I knew I couldn’t fight her again, so I let the matter die.

That was how we started living together as husband and wife. She made me remove the wedding pictures from the living room and put them in the visitor’s.

Four months, I never had a moment to think about Lucy. Seems I had forgotten all about her… my life was returning gradually to me.

But one Sunday evening , I transported the pregnant wife of a friend, to the hospital.

The husband had travelled out of the country, immediately after his wedding, promising to come for his wife in few months time. But things didn’t go as planned again, according to him.

He called, on Saturday and pleaded that I help carry the wife to the hospital on Sunday, as she was almost due.

Deborah planned to go with me, but developed fever that evening, so she stayed back.

When we got to the hospital, I was helping her pack her baby things into the reception, when I ran into Stella, a former classmate of mine. She was a nurse there.

As we chattered happily, another nurse came out, and asked her if it was safe to allow one pregnant woman go out for fresh air. She nodded.

“I pity that woman, she has been in labour for almost four days now”. Stella said to me, as the other girl left.

“Why not operate on her?”. I asked.

She shook her head.

“The doctor would not do that without a signature from her family”. She said.

“What about her husband?”. I was being curious.

“I don’t think she has a husband. And she has failed to provide someone that can stand in for him”. She replied.

Just then, the nurse came back, leading a heavily pregnant woman.

“That’s her”. Stella said.

I didn’t take my eyes off them, until they got closer to where we stood.

Lo and behold, it was no other than my run away wife…. Lucy
