3RD OCTOBER 1997
EP 7
Age is like the ticking of the clock, like it, hate it or don’t care about it, it will always keep moving upwards. Seventeen years had passed since chairman Jege killedd Mr Idoko and his family. Seventeen years and he had become a 75 years old man with great luxuries, wealth and influence in the society but he wasn’t as healthy as he should be. Five years ago, Mr Jege was struck down with partial stroke, he spent a great deal of money to recover by half percent. No matter what his age and his health was doing to him, Mr Jege stubbornly refused to relinquish the chairmanship of the company to anyone. He wants to hold on to the position until Donald was over thirty years so he could force him down everyone’s throat.
Donald was recently appointed as the director of the marketing department. He was twenty six years old, the youngest director in the history of the company. He graduated from a private school as a first class graduate, his intelligence was topnotch and his character was commendable too. With his father heading the position of the chairman of the company, Richard had no chance against him. Few years ago when Richard was becoming ambitious, it was Mr Jege who threatened him to be satisfied with the position of a director else, he might not be alive to see the next day. Richard swallowed his honour and listened to him but secretly, he was building his weapons to strike back at him when he becomes stronger. The emergency of Donald as the youngest, productive and proactive director was a big blow to Richard. Donald wasn’t just the youngest, he was heading an active department in the company, with his popularity and efficiency, Richard was far below him.
It was on a Monday morning and like every other day, the day began with several activities. Few minutes past eight o’clock, a young elegant 24 years old girl walked into the reception. Her medium high heels romanced the tiled floor carefully like a man examining the lusciousness in the breastss of his long time crush who finally agreed to give him a chance. Rose’s presence was a force that captured everyone’s attention, she seemed too confident and elegant. She walked directly to the receptionist and spoke in a melodious voice that alarmed those around. “I’m the new financial auditor of the company, can you please call Mr Donald Jege! Tell him that Rose Adoma is around?” She introduced herself and the receptionist couldn’t helped but opened her mouth in surprises. Such a young champ with alluring demeanour.
“Boss, it worked. I got the job. Just give me few time and every information you need will be at your doorsteps” Rose spoke silently and secretly over the phone immediately she took her seat in the office. “Thank you for your willingness to sacrifices your safety for my sake”. “Boss, don’t worry, you saved me, this is my time to repay you for your kindness”. Rose and the unknown person on the phone continued talking for few minutes before she disconnected the call immediately Mr Jege stepped into her office.
Twenty five years had passed now and nothing, absolutely nothing have been heard about Samuel. Nobody knew if he was deadd or alive. His family had lived past his memories, even Mr Jege had forgotten his existence too. Jege had little or no worries about any impending threats from Samuel anymore, his major concerns was to lived long enough to see his son Donald heading the leadership of the BEICO CONSTRUCTION LIMITED.
