3RD OCTOBER 1997

EP 12

After getting betrayed by Rose, Samuel struggled so hard to controlled himself from hurting Rose but her betrayal pushed him to become more veracious towards Mr Jege and his ambitions. All Samuel wanted was to bring all he had built into rumbles and ashes, he promised himself to made sure that his children experienced greater pain’s in all ways possible the same way he had made him suffered in the past. Rose’s betrayal hurt Samuel beyond imagination, he had helped Rose at the detriment of his own safety. When everyone abandoned her, when her life was at the verge of falling apart, Samuel brought her warmth, gave her a home without asking for anything. Samuel breathed in hard as he strolled into his car driving to the bar where he had earlier made arrangements with a group of four tech experts who specialised in hacking softwares.

Richard had sourced around and gathered great amount of funds. All he wants was to buy enough amount of shares anonymously until the next general meetings before he openly declared his war against the Jege’s. Last week, he had successfully reached an agreement with several top stakeholders of the company. He was carefully and secretly planning the best strategies to launch his attack on Mr Jege and his son. He knew it wasn’t going go to be a walk in the park but he was ready to beared the pains and stretches of such journey. He sat at the balcony of his house watching the dying evening sun as he thinks about all the disappointments he had led his father into during his last days. His eyes turned red, his heart hurt and he felt guilty for his misbehaviours. “I’m sorry dad” he whispered into the air as he gulped the last remains of his whiskey.

It was 3rd of October again. Another day of agonising memories, a day that Samuel was never going to forget in his existence. Since his parents were brutally killeed in the early hours of October 3rd 1997, Samuel had intentionally deleted the date from his memories. He forced himself to believe that such a day never existed. It had been thirty years exactly now that Samuel’s parents were killedd. Samuel was just a small six years old boy, he witnessed the deathh of his parents, he saw their bloodd splattered on the wall. Since the day he escaped from his assailants years ago, Samuel had lived a life of non existence, nobody except Fidelis knew his origin, his agony and his woes. He had been living in the darkness of everyone’s knowledge but as he remembers all he had gone through so far, he heavied a deep breath of heartbreaks and muttered to himself. “Enough of the hiding!” He told himself as he picked up his phone and called his closest friend Nickolas. “I want to visit my parents” he told Nickolas. Nickolas was beyond surprised, since they became friends in Canada, Samuel had intentionally blocked his knowledge from acknowledging his parents deathh. Hearing him saying he wants to visit his parents grave, Nickolas heavied a deep breath of confusion as he kicked start his car heading straight to Samuel’s place.

It was 11am and the late morning sun was weaning into the shadow of the approaching rain. Samuel wore a brown hood jacket and hold a bottle of gin in his right hand as he and Nickolas walked towards the cemetery where the parents were buried. “Wait here, i will be back soon” he told his friend Nickolas. Nickolas stretched himself over the brand new jeep they came in. Nickolas watched pathetically as Samuel walked towards the grave, remembering the stories of Samuel’s life, Nickolas could only imagine the level of emotional tumult he was going through.

Thirty years after his parents were laid to rest, Samuel finally had the mind to visit them. He walked round the two graves that were structured side by side. He gently rubbed his palm over them and cleaned the little dust that was on them. The graves looked particularly neat, he wondered who would have been taking care of it. He saw a cemetery attendant walked by and called his attention. “Oh, they’re your parents?. Well, a certain man paid us to specially take care of the graves. He wasn’t that tall but he seemed very rich, i remembered him making call with someone and introducing himself as the chairman of a certain company. I can’t really completely recall again, sir what’s the issues?” The attendant said as he looked at the disturbed Samuel. Samuel brought out his phone and showed the attendant the photo of chairman Jege and it was confirmed as the man paying the grave attendants to take special cares of the people he killedd. Samuel felt a great surge of anger welling up in him, he felt like strangling and tearing him into thousand pieces.

It was already past 12pm and rain has started drizzling, Nickolas worried about his friend Samuel but he waited patiently. Samuel uncocked the gin bottle and sat down in-between his parents graves, he put the bottles directly in his mouth and gulped it recklessly. “Dad, Mom, your son is back after so long. I’m sorry for abandoning you for this long but don’t worry, on my life i promise, i shall make him cry bloodd, i will take every single thing away from him” Samuel said as he sat under the rain completely drenched and drunk. As he sat there, the gory memories of his parents lying cold in the pool of their bloodd made his heart hurt. He gnashed his teeth as he gulped the gin again directly from the bottle. Two hours had passed and Samuel had lost sense, he broke down into a helpless pathetic young man before his parents. When Nickolas waited patiently for him without seeing him, he ran worryingly to the graves, his heart was totally tore apart as he saw Samuel broken on the ground drunk and in pains with tears drowning him.

Since the first anniversaries of the Idoko’s deathh, Mr Jege had never missed coming to his grave to reminisce over their past relationships and how things turned so ugly. This year too, he called his driver to drive fast to the gravesite. “I want to see my friend!” He told the security at the cemetery. It was drizzling so his driver held an umbrella over his head but when they got close to the grave, he asked him to take the umbrella away. He walked under the rain to the gravesite. As he was coming, Samuel was leaving, it was just a second miss that they didn’t see each other but Mr Jege’s heart dropped when he saw the signs of a human presence at the gravesite. Since all this years, it was the first time, he had noticed such, he became worried as he instantly remembered Samuel. Recently, he had been having the thought of Samuel being alive, now his doubt was becoming more a reality. His heart beats with worries as he poured a wine before Idoko’s grave. “Even in death, you’re still forcing me to do eviil, it seems like your son is back but my friend you shouldn’t have let him come back! Mr Jege said as he gulped his glass of gin. “Did you see anyone visited this grave recently?” He asked the attendant after pushing some wads of cash to him. “Yes sir, a young man who came earlier, he left just a second before you came. Sir, i heard him crying and apologizing to the grave while addressing them as parents” the attendant declared and Mr Jege’s heart finally opened into a wide ocean of thousands thoughts. He swallowed hard his saliva and walked to his grave. “Find him no matter how deep he’s hiding. Find him!” Mr Jege ordered over the phone as he headed home.
