It’s then one year since Sarah broke up with Jack and she hadn’t been in any relationship.
She was still very much engrossed in watching pôrn. Her laptop and phones were filled with downloaded pórn videos of different types.
She knows exactly the one to watch when the urge comes.
She hardly goes a day without seeing the videos.
Sarah avoided other students because she didn’t want anyone to interfere in her private life.
She mostly kept to herself. She had two roommates who saw her to be a quiet girl. So they never bothered her about her social life.
So one day her mother called her to know how she was doing.
“My daughter how are your studies.”
“Fine mummy.”
“I know you will make us proud in Jesus’ Name.”
“Amen!”
“Hope you still attend fellowship in your school.”
Sarah kept mute.
“Try as much as possible to attend fellowship, it will help strengthen your faith.”
“Thanks mummy I’ll start.”
“Take good care of yourself and study harder, okay.”
“Ok, mummy.”
She then ended the call.
After that day, Sarah went to join a Pentecostal fellowship at her school as her mother directed her. Some brethren started following her up afterwards.
As time went on, she became dedicated and even made new friends.
This didn’t stop her from seeing those videos she downloaded and even visiting the sites. She sees the videos whenever she is alone and late at night accompanied by self-stimulation.
She was only tormented by guilt after each act.
Whenever the guilt came, she would pray and beg God for forgiveness.
This continued for some time.
It started affecting her studies. Whenever she stays alone to read her books, she can’t concentrate until she sees those videos. It affected her night reading as well. But she couldn’t stop.
When it was time for her semester’s exam, she still couldn’t concentrate on studying her books and she was ashamed of sharing her problems with the few brethren that she had made friends with.
She struggled through her exams.
A few weeks later, the results came out. She managed to pass a few courses but failed woefully in five courses.
She cried her heart out.
During the holidays, she went home and her parents got to know about her recent academic performance.
Her father was enraged and warned her sternly that if she didn’t study to make better grades next time, he would stop paying her fees.
“What happened Sarah?” her mother asked.
Sarah refused to speak.
“I never expected this type of result from you. You need to sit up. You heard what your father said.”
“Ok, mummy, I promise to do better,” Sarah said while shedding tears.
Sarah knew exactly what her major problems were.
Because of her father’s threat, she made up her mind to stop watching pörnographic videos.
She went and deleted the downloaded videos on her phone and laptop.
Throughout her stay at home, she stayed away from her phone and laptop.
Later on, when she was ready to go back to school, her mother called her.
“Remember to study harder this time around.”
“OK mummy, I’ll do my best.”
“Lest I forget, Mr Samuel your daddy’s friend called. He said his son is in town and he wanted to see you.”
“You mean Frank?”
“Yes, Frank wants to see you, I’ll give him your number. You both can discuss how to see when he calls.”
“Ok mummy.”
Sarah carried her bag to the waiting car outside.
