VALENTINE’S CITY
CHAPTER SEVEN
I went back home and slept for about 2 hours. And was awaken by an argument outside.
Two guys were swearing and cursing each other. I thought I was actually dreaming when I heard Mike’s voice. I got up and went closer to the door to listen and it was indeed Mike and a guy called Bernard.
According to what I gathered from their conversation, Bernard was a Brother to the thief who had snatched my phone the day I had just arrived. It turned out that Mike who happens to have some connections ( which I knew nothing of yet), had retraced this guy in that quarter and dealt with him mercilessly, leaving him hospitalized.
It turned out that he tried to be civil with the guy enough to ask him to peacefully return the phone but he resisted and removed a knife to stab Mike. That’s when he got angry and massaged his face with punches, leaving the guy unrecognizable.
Then it occurred to me why he had blood stains on his hands the day he had come back. Bernard swore to return the favor and persisted to insult Mike telling him he had his luck he wasn’t around he would have thought him a lesson.
It had only been a year since Mike and myself got separated. This new version of him I had never seen before. Well One thing I knew about him was that he didn’t take threads lightly. His anger had no room for patience and his hands acted on the orders of his thoughts. This guy kept on pouring out words like rain and Mike on the other hand, had transformed to cumulonimbus cloud, charged towards this guy with full force and had began releasing lightning slaps and thundering punches on the him. He grabbed him and throw him down like Cina would do and suppressed him with his legs leaving the guy powerless and helpless. Though Bernard struggled and managed to return some punches, he was held in a helpless position.
“ Talk that rubbish way you talk ma hear.” Mike’s words were being accompanied by a Punch
“ You no go talk again Perri?( You won’t talk again?) Make we settle the issue for here once and for all. ( Let’s settle this Once and for all) I no like for waste time. ( I don’t like wasting time) You be talk say you go teach me lesson noh? I want learn that lesson now now” ( you said you wanted to teach me lesson right? I want to learn now)
My close neighbors of the same floor had rushed out to see what had been happening I had equally gone closer to where they were and pleaded that my cousin let go of this guy but he paid no attention to me.
“ Mike please let him go, you don’t want to kill him and be the second to go to Jail in this Cité” Keren persuaded
“ Mike!! Stop.” Another Neighbor Called Seraphin shouted
A male who was much more stronger than Mike and myself, charged towards Mike and grabbed him from behind. Then Bernard saw it as an opportunity to run. He stood up with a face that had been swollen and blood oozing out of his nostrils and charged to towards the stairs not looking behind.
“ Ohhhhh!!!” Exclaimed Mike “wuna for leave me make I finish with ee” ( Allow me to deal with him once and for all)
He ran to into the house and went straight to the balcony and said to the guy who was now running out of the gate
“ Péri, any time I see you for road know say me and you must settle this nonsense way you Dan start.” ( Anytime I see you we must finish what you have started today ) he warned.
He angrily went straight to the room had his bath. Someone knocked and I went and saw Seraphin on the door.
“ Hello, Good evening. “
“Good Evening”
“ Where’s Mike?”
“ In the room, should I …” before I could finish she had rushed in and went straight to the room
“ Mike what’s your problem? How can you be fighting with Bernard ?”
“ were you not there when he laid those insults at me?”
“ But you should have just ignored the guy. I mean you know fully well that his Cousin is a military officer and you still went ahead and fought with him”
“ I don’t care if his father is a marshal art tycoon, when you mess with me I give it to you straight.” Mike said in anger.
“ But what’s wrong with youths nowadays? He knows fully well that he can not fight you, yet he still brought himself to your house to provoke You.”
“ Can you imagine the guts he had”
“ But Mike stop going about destroying people’s faces, it will put you in trouble one day.”
Well after all the discussion , the tunes became lower than before and eventually I decided to now focus on my a movie I had downloaded to watch.
