The Wheelbarrow Pusher Episode Seven
Sarafina and the wheelbarrow pusher did not expect the policemen to betray them. They never expected that they would go to her parents to tell them where they were hiding. It was a huge disappointment. Sarafina had trusted them so much and she was so sure that the village was safe because the place was completely removed from the town. Ordinarily, it would be very difficult to find them there except through betrayal. If they were not betrayed by the policemen who they had earlier paid, no one would have known their location until they would be ready to leave the country and move to the United States as they planned.
“This was not the agreement we had. We agreed that you were not going to show my parents where I’m hiding. You shamelessly went to tell them that you saw us. Now, they have sent you to come and arrest us right? How much are they paying you? I will double the amount for all of you. You don’t have to put yourselves through all these. You don’t have to arrest me. You have absolutely nothing to gain if you take me to my father.” Sarafina said but the policemen merely laughed at her.
“My dear, we have a lot to gain. Your father has promised to give us a lot of money if we can bring you to him alive. Do you know how much he has offered to pay us? We are sorry, but the money is so big that we could not resist it. Your father is a rich man and he could pay any amount to have his daughter back home.” The police boss said. His fellow police officers were just nodding their heads in agreement. They were itching to quickly arrest Sarafina and the wheelbarrow pusher so that they could quickly return to town and collect their money.
“How much did he say he would pay you? I just said I will double any amount he is giving to you. If it is money that you want, don’t worry, I will give it to you. Just leave us alone to enjoy our love. I don’t want anything that would make me go back home and be forced to marry Kunle tomorrow. Just tell me the amount my father has paid you, I will double it so you can go back and tell him you did not see me or my boyfriend.” Sarrafina said with a frowned face.
“My dear, your father is paying so much money and I’m not sure you can settle us this time around. The amount he is paying us is beyond what a young girl like you can afford. It is far beyond your bank account. We are sure you don’t have such an amount in your accout. Even if you do, you might not have the courage to give it to us. Your father said if we can find you and bring you home, he is going to pay us $1 million. Now, can you double that for us? If you can double that for us, we are ready to leave you alone. We will just go back now and let your father know we did not see you.” The police boss said with a smile.
“Lols! I’m laughing at you because obviously, you people don’t know my father. You don’t know who you are dealing with. My father is a businessman who has been in the business of making deals for a long time. You honestly think my father is going to give you $1 million? How? Why do you think he is going to give you such an amount of money just for you to find me for him? You are joking right? But wait, do you believe he is going to give you the money? Do you know how much is $1 million? That amount is almost N1.5 billion in naira. That is what my father has promised to give you if you find me? I know he can afford it, but do you honestly think he would grant his promise? You guys are joking right?” Sarafina asked with laughter in her lips.
“He was not joking and we are not joking. Your father is a rich man and he has assured us that if we can deliver you to him, we will get our money without any delay. We trust that he will furfil his promise. How can he tell us what he cannot do? Your father is not an ordinary person. We trust that if we arrest you now and take to him, we will have plenty of money in our pockets. He is going to do as he said. After all, he has the money and he loves you and he is also desperately waiting for your return. The money is there, and we will get it.” The police boss said.
“Can I bet you that you are not going to get anything from my father even if you deliver me to him? He cannot give you $1 million dollars for arresting me. I know my father very well and I’m telling you he will not give you such amount of money for doing nothing other than finding me. Well, I want to make you an offer. Let me make you an offer. If you can go back and tell my father that you didn’t see me, I will give you $10,000. If you reject the offer, I will follow you to my father and you will see that you will not get that $1 million he promised you. In fact, you will not get anything. Take the one I’m giving you and leave. If you refuse, we will post the video we have.” Sarafina said.
After consulting and talking to each other, the policemen agreed. They took the $10,000 and left. The shared it there and then.
“A bird in hand is better than ten birds in the bush.” The police boss said as he and his boys laughed happily and left the village without arresting Sarafina and the wheelbarrow pusher.
“We have to leave soon to USA.” Sarafina said to the wheelbarrow pusher after the policemen left.
