Episode 3
Miriam was resuscitated by the doctor and advised to rest for at least two hours before leaving the hospital
She argued that she was yet to prepare her children’s lunch as they will soon be back from school. The doctor persuaded Miriam to phone a friend or relative who could take care of the children
Miriam called her sister-in-law, Sandra, and explained the situation to her. Sandra lived quite close to Miriam’s house so she agreed to cook for the children and visit Miriam in the hospital later.
Miriam’s kids, David and Precious already arrived home from school, expecting to see their mother but they didn’t see anyone at home.
Just as they settled in their house clothes, their aunt Sandra knocked on the door. They let her in and took the cooler of food she brought for them
Then Sandra went over to the hospital only to get shocked by the size of Miriam’s stomach. A mixture of surprise confusion and anger spread over her face…
“Miriam, it’s not even up to five months my brother dรญแบนฬd and you’re already pregnant?” Sandra asked
Miriam couldn’t reply. Sandra stood looking at her, and then proceeded to call other members of the family to let them know what was happening. Most of them decided on coming to the hospital to see for themselves
Sandra continued asking questions…
“When did you get pregnant?”
“Who is the father?”
“Were you chแบนฬรคting on my brother?”
But Miriam gave no answer to these questions because if she told the truth, no one would believe her. So she kept silent and took in all the words from Sandra
“Ah, yes, another thing. Why did you call me to cook for your children when you already cooked for them?” Sandra asked
“Mm? What are you talking about?”
“You heard my question. When I arrived at your house, your kids were already eating a sumptuous meal, probably you cooked for them and decided to waste my time”
“No, I’ve been here since morning, I came here after the children left for school and I haven’t gone back since then” Miriam explained
“Oh, but they were eating when I got there. And it looked like it was freshly cooked. Beans and plantain porridge, it was even hot. Abi did your children suddenly know how to cook?”
“They’re little kids, obviously they can’t cook”
“So that means you cooked the food?”
“No”

Episode 4
Miriam started thinking hard, trying to figure out who cooked for her kids, and how the person got access to their home
The only person that crossed her mind was Danny, but she knew it couldn’t be him because he never had any access to their home except she was around. He didn’t even know where they normally kept the house keys. But she decided to call him still…
“Hello Dan, erm please I know it sounds crazy but did you cook for my children at home today?” Miriam asked immediately the call got connected
Danny hesitated…
“I don’t understand, why are you asking me such question?”
“Just answer please, something strange happened and I’m really confused here”
“How would I even cook for your children? Do I even have access to your house? Look, I’m doing something important here so if you have nothing serious to say then I’m off” Danny said and hung up after few seconds of silence
Miriam continued wondering who it could be that cooked her children’s lunch. She was still thinking when her in-laws came in
Immediately, there was shouting in the room. Anger, surprise, and confusion poured out…
“Miriam, you’re pregnant!”
“For who?”
“How?”
“So soon?”
“So you can’t even regard your lรคtแบนฬ husband? You’re already pregnant for someone else?” her mother-in-law asked
“No, Edward is the father. He’s the one who got me pregnant” Miriam defended
“When?” The three in-laws asked together
Miriam was indifferent but she decided to open up…
“On the day he dรญแบนฬd, he got me pregnant that same day”
There was silence in the room… everyone was trying to digest what Miriam said
“So you’re trying to tell us that Edward got you pregnant the same day he dรฌแบนฬd in a road accident? How is that even possible?”
They accused Miriam of being crรฃzy and left the hospital. Only Sandra stayed behind till she was discharged.
Miriam delivered the baby few months after. It was a boy. In fact he was an exact replica of his dแบนฬรคd father
Same face, same head shape, same eyes. He even had dots on his chin that looked like beards, the exact same pattern with Edward’s own
Miriam refused to accept the baby for days. The hospital took care of him until she agreed to take him home.
But then, her sorrows were doubled as his face brought back all the dreaded memories. She could no longer sleep at night, she was always sad and was even scared of touching him. She tried every possible means to forget the pain, but none worked. She was left with only one option
