The Night Shift Episode Ten
The lights at the restaurant that night were a mixture of blue and red. They weren’t too bright. However, they were just bright enough to show Chi Chi’s beautiful face. She looked so radiant and appealing to Dr Nath. She was smiling nicely when Dr Nath brought out the ring and asked her if she would agree to be his wife and spend the rest of her life with him. Chi Chi was just looking at Dr Nath with a beautiful smile on her face. She did not respond to the question quickly. It was like she paused and thought about it for a while. But after a moment of brief suspense, she stretched forth her hand and accepted the engagement ring from Dr Nath. Dr Nath was too happy when he inserted the ring on Chi Chi’s finger.
“I will marry you Dr Nath. I will say yes to your proposal a hundred times over. You are a good man and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. It was like God did not give me a husband but was just waiting for me to meet you. I’m so happy you have taken the decision to leave your marriage which has brought you nothing but sorrow. I’m so happy you came back to your right senses and decided to leave your wife so as to find true happiness in the arms of another woman. Your wife is not a good woman and she does not deserve a good man like you. As you have given me this beautiful ring, I promise to be a source of happiness to you for the remaining parts of your life. You will not regret taking the decision to marry me. And I know you will not make me to regret getting married to you.” Chi Chi said with a beautiful smile on her face.
“You will never regret it. With all the good things you have done for me, I will never make you cry. What I will spend the rest of my life to do is to cherish you and love you. I will spend the rest of my life to make you happy. You will be a happy woman in my house. You have brought joy into my life. You have opened my eyes and you have shown me that happiness is achievable. You have made me to realize my true worth. You have led me out of my ugly marriage which was showing me hell. You deserve a great marriage because you are a great woman. I will give you a great marriage. You are my love and my world. For the rest of my life, I will live to cherish the day that I met you in my office. It was God that looked at my poor life and then sent a woman like you to come my way. Thanks to God that I did not reject you when you asked me to talk to you about why I was crying that day. Now, my life has been made better for it. Thank you so much for all you have done for me and thank you for accepting to marry me and be my wife. I’m the happiest man in the word today.” Dr Nath said to Chi Chi as they hugged each other passionately.
When they hugged, people at the restaurant clapped for them while some used their phone cameras to capture the romantic moment shared by the couple. Some shouted as they shared the happiness between Dr Nath and Chi Chi. When the proposal ended, Dr Nath and Chi Chi stood up and started going home. This time around, they were no longer hiding their relationship because Dr Nath’s wife already found out and there was no need to hide from her. They went straight to Chi Chi’s house to enjoy the rest of the night.
The next day, they began the wedding preparation. The next thing they did was to print a lot of invitation cards. They started distributing the cards to their friends and family members who they want to witness their wedding. Dr Nath took the decision to properly divorce Binta before going into another marriage. He therefore approached a lawyer and asked him to start the divorce process. Soon, Dr Nath was given a divorce notice to serve to Binta.
One evening he decided to go to his house and serve Binta the divorce notice. Since he discovered that Chi Chi had her own house, he has not been going home as he preferred spending quality time with Chi Chi as they planned their wedding. But that day he had to go to his house because of the divorce notice which he was to serve to his wife.
“Where have you been all these while? I have been looking for you so we can talk things out. I have searched for you in every corner of the town and you were not even picking your calls. Why did you decide not to be coming home again?” Binta asked her husband.
“Well, a man would only come home when he knows he was coming home to meet happiness. I don’t like troubles as a man. I decided to avoid this house because it is filled with troubles. It has given me troubles all my life. So I have decided to search for greener pastures elsewhere. I decided to look for happiness elsewhere. As a matter of fact, I decided to get happiness in the arms of another woman. I have found another person to marry. This is why I’m here. I’m here to notify you of my wedding to Chi Chi and also to serve you a divorce notice which has been filed in court. I want a divorce from you so that I can be free to enjoy life with Chi Chi who has given me so much joy and happiness. I did not come to this life to suffer. I came to this life to enjoy. Please, take the divorce notice from my hand.” Dr Nath said to Binta.
