The New Apartment Episode Eight
Jane was apprehensive and scared when her boss told her he had used his hand to grab the thing that was making noise from her ceiling. She was petrified by fear because she thought whatever it is that was making that sound must be a very strong charm. She taught anyone who touches the charm would not live to see the next minute.
โPlease, I told you not to touch it. I donโt want anything to happen to you. That thing is very dangerous and it could kill anyone who touches it. Just mark the spot where it is so that we can pour anointed oil on it before pulling it out from the ceiling and burning it with fire. Please, just climb down from the ceiling. I will find another pastor to come and pray on it before we can bring it down. Make sure you donโt touch it because it is a dangerous charm planted by my enemies.โ Jane tells her boss but he paid her no attention.
โWhat are you talking about? You are still mentioning anointed oil when the one you did failed to work. Why are you still talking of using anointed oil on the thing disturbing you? After that pastor scammed you? Do you still want to go and bring another man of God who would come here to charge you a lot of money and still not do the job you are paying for? I told you to calm your mind. Iโm already coming down and you will soon see the thing that has been causing all these troubles for you. You will be shocked when you see it.โ Her boss said. He was trying to find his way down. The ceiling is a complicated place so he found it a little difficult to navigate. He was unable to move very fast because he was holding the object by one hand and his torchlight by the other.
โIโm trying to turn around so that I will come down. This place is so complicated. I mean, there are a lot of things that I have to dogde. There are many woods, cables and dirt there and I have to be careful not to injure myself.โ Janeโs boss said. When he was attempting to place his leg on a wood, he missed and he almost crashed down from the ceiling but he quickly dropped his torchlight and grabbed a wood with his right hand.
After he dropped his torchlight, it went off completely because it hit a wood and got damaged. It refused to come up again even after he picked it and tried putting it on. He abandoned the torch and started climbing down in total darkness. However, Jane remembered that her phone has torchlight.
โFear has made me to forget everything. My phone actually has a torchlight. Let me go and pick the phone.โ Jane said. She rushed into the room, trying hard not to hit anything as she was moving. She found her way into the bedroom and she was able to locate her phone on the bed.
โWait for me o! Donโt climb down without light. The whole place is dark and I donโt want you to fall. If you fall and injure yourself I will not forgive myself that it happened to you in my apartment. Please hold on, Iโm coming already.โ Jane shouted when she found her phone and rushed back to put on the light for her boss. However, before she got there, her boss has already climbed down. He was sitting on one of the stools and waiting for her.
โBut I told you to wait for me. What if you fell and injured yourself? You know it is dangerous to be climbing in the dark. You are quiet courageous and even stubborn.โ Jane said to her boss.
โYou are too fearful and this is affecting how you think. Stop being afraid too much. Hold your heart and stand firm. Even the thing you are afraid of is absolutely nothing. It was just an audio device that was making the sound you have been hearing from your ceiling. There is no human being in the ceiling. There is no demon and there’s no evil spirit there. Someone put this audio device there and Iโm suspecting it was your landlord who did it. Do you know that the thing was plugged on a socket? The person that put it there wants it to continue charging and never to go off. The cable to the socket entered another room which I suspect belongs to your landlord. He has some questions to answer.โ Janeโs boss said to her. He showed her the audio music player. He touched it and it played the exact sound Jane has been hearing. Jane was shocked.
โYou mean this is what has been giving me sleepless nights? You mean this is the problem I have been facing in this house? I cannot believe my eyes. A simple music player made me to pay a pastor N600,000? But why would my landlord put this thing in my ceiling? What does he want?โ Jane asked.
โHmmm! It is as if you donโt know what desperate landlords can do in Lagos. These people can do anything to double their money. The man simply wants you to get scared and pack out of the building so that he will rent it to another person in a space of one month. You paid millions for the apartment, but you will not be able to use it, you will pack out because of fear. Then he will rent it to another person who will suffer the same fate. The cycle continues and he will keep making money from people who are afraid to check the ceiling themselves. He recorded the voices you have been hearing and put it in the memory card in the audio player.โ Janeโs boss said. He showed Jane the memory card and she was shocked.
โIโm going to confront that man tomorrow. If not that you came here this night, I was already thinking of getting a new apartment and abandoning the money I paid here. He is going to hear from me in the morning.โ Jane said.
