The New Apartment Episode Six
When Jane was at work that day, her heart was not at rest. She was still thinking of how to deal with the problem at her house. She was so devastated by the fact that she spent so much money to rent an apartment and she has not been able to have a good sleep in it even for a week. This kind of thing has never happened to her in the past. Even the smaller apartment where she was living gave her more peace of mind than the expensive apartment in Lekki. She even had more peace of mind when she was squatting with a friend than now that she has an expensive apartment that should be giving her joy and happiness.
However, Jane had no joy, no sleep and no happiness. All she has experienced in the new apartment was sadness and endless fear. This gave her a serious course for concern. Even when she attempted to look for a pastor that could help her cast out the demon in the house, she was scammed and N600,000 taken from her. The pastor is even demanding for bedroom action.
As she was working in the office that day, her heart was not at rest. She was constantly talking to herself. She was also caught sleeping several times by her boss who had to ask her several questions as to why she was making mistakes with documents given to her to work on.
โWhat is the matter with you? It is as if you have not been yourself for the past few days. What is going on in your heart? Did you suffer a heartbreak? Did you lose a loved one? Did anyone die in your family or did your boyfriend dump you? What is troubling your heart? Why are you so distracted that you are making a lot of mistakes on the documents I gave you to handle for me? Talk to me let me know what is troubling your heart. Do you think you need a break? Do you want me to give you a leave? Do you need time to rest? You can take a leave if you want to. I donโt want you to be working and making these mistakes that could cost the company millions.โ Janeโs boss said when he walked into her office and found her sleeping with her head resting on the table. Jane did not respond immediately, she just started weeping first.
โI said it that there is something troubling your heart. This is not the Jane I used to know. You are known to be dedicated to your duties. So, tell me, what is it? What is giving you heartaches? Why are you so troubled?โ Her boss asked, drawing closer to her. Jane finally found the voice to speak up to someone close about the trouble she was facing at the new apartment.
โHow can I pay millions of naira for an apartment and then an evil spirit will take over the place? Every day, I face troubles there. It is like the money I paid is wasting away and Iโm not benefiting anything from it. Even my life is being threatened in the apartment I paid for. I donโt know why I went and paid for that apartment. I donโt know who sent me to pay for it. Iโm suffering because I paid for the wrong apartment. I donโt sleep at nights neither do I rest on weekends. I donโt know who I have offended. Paying for that apartment was a huge mistake.โ Jane said to her boss.
โIโm so sorry to hear this Jane. What is happening in the new apartment you rented? I sincerely thought you were happy there. What is going on? Talk to me, I might be of help.โ Her boss said.
โThere is a demon in the apartment. And it is giving me a lot of headaches. The demon is always talking in the night and saying it would kill me.โ Jane said.
โWhat do you mean there is a demon in the apartment? What kind of demon? Who put the demon in your apartment? How can there be a demon in an apartment? Are you seeing the demon or you are just hearing things in your head? I really donโt understand.โ Her boss asked. Janeโs boss is one of those people who donโt believe in demons or in spiritual powers. The man is an atheist and he does not go to church.
โI know you donโt believe in these things, but they are real. I have been hearing the voice of a little girl in my room. The girl says she was killed in the apartment and that she was going to kill me in revenge. The voice says the girl was killed and used for ritual. In fact, the girl was chasing me around the room yesterdayโs night. I ran and even injured myself. I stayed outside the apartment until daybreak.โ Jane said.
โYou know what? Iโm coming to your house in the night. I will pass the night in your place. Let me hear the voice myself so that I will know what to do. I promise you that I will solve this problem. There is no demon in your apartment. You just allowed fear to take over your heart. Iโm coming to solve the problem for you.โ Janeโs boss said.
Meanwhile, when she closed from work, Jane looked for a cheap hotel and paid for a few hours. She then went into the hotel room and started waiting for Pastor Tunde. She called him on the phone and informed him the hotel room was ready and that she was waiting. It took only 15 minutes for the man to arrive there. Before his arrival, Jane had positioned her phone in a strategic place and put on the camera in a way that it would capture everything happening in the room.
โTake off your clothes. When you take off all your clothes, you can come to bed to meet me.โ Jane said to Pastor Tunde.
โI have already done that.โ Pastor Tunde said. He took off all his clothe with speed and joy on his face. He did not know that a secret camera was recording him. When he was done, Jane stood up from the bed and carried her phone and her handbag and started leaving.
โI have a video of you in this phone. My camera has recorded you. I want you to take your phone right now and transfer the N600,000 you collected from me. The prayers you said in my apartment did not work, so you have to refund me. If you donโt do that, I will post this video on the internet.โ Jane said. Pastor Tunde did not even argue with her. He immediately transferred the money to her and Jane left him in the hotel room and went home.
When she got home, it was already 8pm and her boss was already waiting for her.
โOpen your door. I want to enter and hear the voice of the demon myself.โ Her boss said.
