Narcissistic Pastor
Episode 9: The First Step of Rebellion
Ruth sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers clutching the fabric she had brought home from Mama Bisi’s shop. She had spent the entire night thinking about the elderly woman’s words.
“If this is your calling, you must embrace it.”
But what if Daniel found out?
Fear gripped her heart, but for the first time, another feeling rose alongside it—determination.
She took a deep breath and made her decision.
The next day, after Daniel left for a leadership meeting at the church, Ruth locked the front door, pulled out her sewing kit from an old box, and spread the fabric across the table. She had no sewing machine, but that didn’t matter. She would start with her hands.
As she made the first stitch, something strange happened.
She smiled.
With every thread she wove, she felt a part of herself returning.
Hours passed, and Ruth didn’t realize how much time had gone by until she heard the sound of a car outside.
Daniel was home.
Her heart pounded as she scrambled to hide the fabric under the couch and brush the loose threads off her lap. She barely had time to compose herself before he walked in.
He glanced at her. “You look… different.”
Ruth forced a smile. “I was just cleaning.”
Daniel nodded slowly but said nothing.
That night, as she lay beside him, she stared at the ceiling, her heart still racing.
For the first time in years, she had done something for herself.
And it felt powerful.

Episode 10: A Secret Unfolds
The next few days passed with Ruth stealing moments for herself—moments where she could sew in secret, moments where she could breathe.
Each morning, after Daniel left, she would retrieve her fabric, sit at the table, and stitch carefully. The designs in her notebook were slowly coming to life.
She was no longer just Pastor Daniel’s wife.
She was Ruth. A woman with dreams. A woman with talent.
But she knew she was playing with fire.
One evening, as she prepared dinner, she heard the front door open. Daniel walked in, looking exhausted.
“I had a long day,” he sighed, rubbing his forehead. “The church is full of people who don’t listen.”
Ruth set his food on the table, nodding. “Maybe they need patience.”
Daniel scoffed. “No. They need discipline.”
As he ate, he suddenly looked up. “I noticed something today. The tailor in the market—Mama Bisi—she was talking about a talented woman who’s been bringing designs to her. Said she hadn’t seen such skill in years.”
Ruth’s hands froze.
“She didn’t mention a name,” he continued, sipping his water. “But I wonder… who could it be?”
Her throat went dry. Had Mama Bisi said something? Did someone see her?
She forced a small laugh. “I wouldn’t know.”
Daniel studied her for a moment, then continued eating.
That night, Ruth couldn’t sleep.
Her secret was at risk.
But instead of fear, she felt something else—a need to protect what was hers.
For the first time in years, she had something that belonged to her, something Daniel couldn’t control.
She wouldn’t give it up.
Not now. Not ever.
