The Narcissist Pastor episode 7&8

Narcissistic Pastor

Episode 7: A Hidden Passion Resurfaces

Ruth sat in the small sitting room, staring at the fabric she had bought from the market earlier that day. The vendor’s words kept replaying in her mind:

“Are you a designer? You look like someone who would do well in fashion.”

She ran her fingers over the material, feeling the soft texture beneath her touch. A flood of memories rushed back—memories of her younger self sketching dress designs in the back of her notebooks, of dreaming about owning a boutique, of imagining women walking around in clothes she had created.

That girl had disappeared the moment she married Daniel.

She had given up everything—her passion, her dreams, her identity—all in the name of submission.

But now, something was awakening inside her.

She quickly grabbed an old notebook and a pen. At first, she hesitated, feeling silly. But then, slowly, her hand began to move.

She started sketching.

The lines were shaky at first, but soon, they became smoother. Shapes began to take form—dresses, skirts, blouses. It was as if her hands remembered what her heart had forgotten.

For the first time in years, she was creating something of her own.

The front door suddenly clicked open, and Ruth’s heart jumped. She quickly shut the notebook and shoved it under a pillow.

Daniel was back.

She stood up immediately, smoothing her dress as he walked in. His eyes scanned the room before settling on her.

“You look different,” he said, narrowing his gaze. “What have you been doing?”

Ruth forced a smile. “Just cleaning.”

Daniel grunted, removing his jacket. “Good. A woman’s duty is to keep the home in order.”

As he went into the bedroom, Ruth slowly pulled the notebook back out and stared at her sketches.

For the first time, she felt something stronger than fear.

She felt the urge to fight for herself.

Episode 8: The Awakening

The next morning, Ruth woke up before Daniel and quickly pulled out her notebook from under the pillow. She flipped through the pages of sketches she had drawn the night before, her heart racing with excitement.

For so long, she had buried her dreams beneath the weight of her husband’s expectations. But now, it felt like a part of her was waking up—a part she thought was lost forever.

She had to do something about it.

Later that afternoon, while Daniel was at the church, she took a deep breath and made her way to the tailor’s shop in the market. It was a small, busy place filled with the sounds of sewing machines and women laughing as they picked fabrics.

The tailor, an elderly woman named Mama Bisi, looked up and smiled. “Ah, Sister Ruth! It’s been a long time since I saw you outside church.”

Ruth forced a small smile. “Yes… I wanted to ask something.”

Mama Bisi wiped her hands and sat beside her. “What is it, my dear?”

Ruth hesitated, then pulled out her sketches. “I used to design clothes… before I got married. I don’t know if they’re any good, but… I was wondering if you could take a look?”

Mama Bisi’s eyes widened as she studied the designs. “These are beautiful, my child! You have talent.”

Ruth’s heart swelled.

“Do you want to bring them to life?” Mama Bisi asked, tilting her head.

Ruth swallowed hard. The answer was yes, but was she ready?

Just then, her phone buzzed.

It was Daniel.

Her heart stopped.

Reality came crashing down.

“I— I have to go,” she stammered, quickly gathering her things.

Mama Bisi touched her hand. “Ruth, don’t let fear stop you. If this is your calling, you must embrace it.”

As she rushed home, her mind raced.

For the first time in years, she had felt alive. But the fear of Daniel’s control still loomed over her like a dark cloud.

Could she really break free?
