Narcissistic Pastor
Episode 17: A Man at War with Himself
Daniel couldn’t sleep.
For years, Ruth had been predictable—obedient, quiet, always seeking his approval. Now, she was different. Stronger.
She no longer looked at him with fear.
She no longer tiptoed around him.
She was slipping away, and he didn’t know how to stop it.
He sat alone in the dark living room, gripping his Bible, but for the first time, the words on the pages felt foreign.
Was he losing his wife?
Meanwhile, Ruth lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. She knew she had crossed a line in Daniel’s world—she had chosen herself.
And she had no regrets.
The next morning, she prepared breakfast in silence, expecting Daniel to lash out, to demand she stop her work.
But instead, he simply watched her.
“I’m going to the church,” he said flatly, grabbing his Bible.
Ruth nodded but said nothing.
As soon as he left, she grabbed her materials and got to work.
Her business was growing. Orders were increasing. Mama Bisi had even mentioned the possibility of opening a small shop.
The thought thrilled her.
She was building a life beyond Daniel.
But deep down, she knew this wasn’t over.
Daniel wasn’t the type of man to simply let go.
And sooner or later, something was going to break.
Narcissistic Pastor
Episode 18: A Crumbling Throne
Daniel sat in his office at the church, gripping his pen so tightly his knuckles turned white.
For years, he had preached about obedience, discipline, and order—especially within marriage. He had built his authority on those principles, guiding his congregation with a firm hand.
But now, in his own home, his authority was crumbling.
Ruth had changed.
She no longer flinched when he raised his voice.
She no longer sought his approval before making decisions.
And worst of all—she no longer feared him.
It made him furious, but beneath that anger was something else. Something he wasn’t ready to admit.
Guilt.
Meanwhile, Ruth was thriving.
Her designs were selling faster than she could make them, and Mama Bisi had introduced her to a supplier who could help her expand.
For the first time in years, Ruth had her own money.
Her own independence.
And it felt good.
That evening, Daniel returned home later than usual. He found Ruth in the living room, ironing one of her new designs.
His jaw tightened. “You didn’t tell me you would be working tonight.”
Ruth didn’t look up. “I don’t need to.”
The words sent a shock through his body.
He clenched his fists. “You are my wife. I am your husband. You are supposed to—”
“To obey?” Ruth cut in, setting down the iron. She finally looked at him, her eyes calm but firm. “Daniel, marriage is not ownership. I am your wife, but I am also a person.”
Daniel felt the ground beneath him shift.
For the first time, he didn’t know how to respond.
Ruth picked up the dress and walked past him toward the bedroom, leaving him standing there.
His control was slipping.
And he was terrified.
