The Narcissist Pastor episode 13&14

Narcissistic pastor

Episode 13: The Fire Inside

Ruth barely slept that night. Her heart raced with a mixture of excitement and fear.

She had taken a step—a bold, dangerous step.

Someone wanted her design.

As the early morning sun crept into the room, she quickly got out of bed and hid her sewing materials before Daniel woke up. She didn’t want to give him any reason to suspect her.

By the time he came downstairs, she had already prepared breakfast, acting as if nothing had changed.

But everything had changed.

As they ate in silence, Daniel finally spoke. “I have an evening service today. I’ll be home late.”

Ruth nodded, but inside, her heart leaped.

That meant she had the whole afternoon to work on the dress.

The moment Daniel left, she locked the door, rushed to the sewing table, and got to work.

With every stitch, she felt a sense of freedom. She was creating something beautiful, something that belonged to her—not to Daniel, not to the church, but to Ruth.

Time passed quickly, and just as she was finishing the dress, she heard footsteps outside.

Her heart stopped.

She quickly shoved the fabric under the couch and wiped her hands just as the door swung open.

It was Daniel.

Ruth forced a smile. “You’re home early.”

Daniel narrowed his eyes, stepping inside. “What were you doing?”

Ruth’s palms felt sweaty. “Just resting.”

His gaze swept over the room, lingering on the sewing table. Ruth held her breath, praying he wouldn’t notice the small thread that had fallen to the floor.

After a moment, he sighed and walked past her.

Ruth exhaled, relief washing over her.

She had come too far to stop now.

Episode 14: The Breaking Point

Ruth knew she was walking on thin ice.

For days, she continued to sew in secret, completing the dress and sending it to Mama Bisi. The customer had been thrilled, and for the first time in years, Ruth felt valuable.

But Daniel had become more observant.

He watched her more closely, questioned her every move. The air in the house grew thick with tension.

One evening, as she was setting the table for dinner, Daniel spoke without looking at her.

“I know you’ve been keeping something from me.”

Ruth’s hand froze on the plate.

“You’re different, Ruth. Distracted. Doing things behind my back.” He finally turned to her, his eyes dark. “What are you hiding?”

Ruth’s heart pounded. She knew lying wouldn’t help.

She took a deep breath. “I made a dress.”

Silence filled the room.

Daniel slowly set down his spoon. “You what?”

“I made a dress,” she repeated, this time with more strength in her voice. “Someone wanted to buy it. And they did.”

Daniel’s expression twisted into something unreadable. “I told you—”

“I know what you told me,” Ruth interrupted, surprising even herself. “But I’m not just your wife, Daniel. I’m a person. And I have a gift.”

Daniel’s jaw tightened. He stood up, looming over her. “A wife is meant to be submissive.”

Ruth clenched her fists. “Submission does not mean slavery.”

The words hung in the air between them.

For the first time, Daniel saw it—the fire in her eyes. The woman who had always bowed to him was standing up for herself.

And he had never been more afraid.
