Episode 11: Cracks in the Mask

Ruth moved carefully around the house, her mind racing. Daniel’s suspicion had shaken her, but she refused to let fear consume her.

For years, she had let him dictate her life. But this time, she had something to fight for—her passion, her identity, her freedom.

She continued sewing in secret, finishing the dress she had been working on. When she saw it completed, she couldn’t believe it—it was beautiful.

Mama Bisi had been right. She had talent.

But her joy was short-lived.

That evening, as she prepared dinner, Daniel was unusually quiet. He barely touched his food, staring at her with unreadable eyes.

“I went to the market today,” he finally said, setting down his spoon.

Ruth’s heart pounded.

“I saw something interesting. A woman showing off a design that looked… familiar.”

She swallowed hard. “What are you talking about?”

Daniel leaned forward, his eyes cold. “I know what you’re doing, Ruth.”

The room fell silent.

For the first time, she didn’t deny it.

She held his gaze, her hands tightening around the edge of the table.

Daniel let out a slow breath. “A wife is meant to submit to her husband. You don’t need a business. You have me.”

Something inside Ruth snapped.

She had given him everything. Her dreams, her happiness, her identity. And he still expected her to erase herself.

Her voice was steady when she spoke. “I have done nothing wrong.”

Daniel’s face darkened, but before he could say anything, she stood up.

For the first time, she left the room before he dismissed her.

As she walked away, her heart pounded, not from fear—but from power.

A new chapter was beginning.

Episode 12: The Fear of Losing Control

Daniel sat alone in the living room long after Ruth had left the dining table. His fingers tapped against the armrest of his chair, his mind clouded with frustration.

She had defied him.

For the first time in years, Ruth had looked him in the eye and refused to back down. That wasn’t the woman he had married. That wasn’t the obedient wife he had shaped.

His chest tightened.

What if she was beginning to slip away?

Meanwhile, Ruth sat in the bedroom, her hands shaking slightly. She had never dared to challenge Daniel before, but tonight, something inside her had changed.

She was done living in fear.

As she sat on the bed, her phone vibrated. It was a message from Mama Bisi.

Mama Bisi: “The dress you made is stunning, my dear. A customer saw it and asked if you could make one for her. Can you?”

Ruth’s breath caught in her throat.

Someone wanted to buy her design?

She stared at the message, her heart p******g. She knew the risk, knew what would happen if Daniel found out.

But this was her gift. Her passion.

Her hands shook as she typed her reply.

Ruth: “Yes, I can.”

As soon as she pressed send, she felt a strange sense of relief.

She was no longer waiting for permission.

She was taking back her life.

But downstairs, Daniel sat in the dark, gripping the armrest of his chair.

He could feel it—Ruth was slipping from his control.

And he would not let that happen.
