EPISODE 25.

“So chief, what are your thoughts regarding the gift I sent you? I hope you loved it just as much as I loved yours?” Micheal asked with an annoying grin.

“Micheal the bodyguard, you sure have some nerves to come into my house uninvited,” Chief Anthony said.

“Why? What would you do? Send one of your men to strangle me as you did to my mother? Or will you rather sell me off the second time?” Micheal asked.

Hearing this, Chief Anthony gave him a quick look filled with confusion.

“Sell you off the second time? What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked.

Hearing this, Micheal stood up and slowly took a few steps to the window with both hands behind his back.

“I am one of those innocent children who fell victim to your child trafficking business,” Micheal said focusing his gaze on the window.

“Who exactly are you?” Chief Anthony asked.

Then glaring at him, Micheal responded.

“I am that young boy you and Mrs ifemi sold to a Spanish couple twenty-five years ago and made it look like legal adoption,” Micheal responded walking back to him.

“What? You are that kid? But how?” Chief Anthony asked looking confused.

“How what? How am I back in the country? how am I alive? Or how did I get to know that you are into child trafficking business? Which of them is it?” Micheal asked sitting back in his seat.

“I mean, how did you find out that you were sold instead of adopted like we made it look? And how did you get to find out that it was I that helped Mrs Ifemi in selling you off? That’s not a secret that just anyone could easily find out” Chief Anthony asked.

Hearing this, Micheal simply scoffed and said,

“Surprised? well, maybe it’s because you both messed with the wrong person. Or maybe, it’s because I am Micheal Pedro, a guy that can’t be easily fooled for long” Micheal responded.

“So, you already knew who I was and what I do all these while yet you never confronted me?” Chief Anthony asked.

“There is time for everything you know,” Micheal responded.

“So that means I owe you two scores then,” Chief Anthony asked.

“Exactly” Micheal responded.

“So, what are you going to do now? Kill me here or what?” Chief Anthony asked.

“No Chief. I might be angry at you right now, and desperately want you dead. But I am not stupid to let you die a glorious death you know” Micheal said.

“What do you mean?” Chief Anthony asked.

“Killing you here and now will only make me a killer and you a philanthropist that was heartlessly murdered. So I am not letting you die like a good man and the philanthropist that you claim to be. If you must die, then you have to die after the world gets to know you for who you truly are and not the good person you portray yourself to be in public” Micheal said.

Hearing this, Chief Anthony burst out laughing.

“And how do you intend fo achieve that when you have no valid proof of my illegal deeds? Or do you think you can force me into confessing my atrocities? Dream on Micheal because I would rather die than get myself exposed to the world” Chief Anthony said.

“Wow! Bravo! I love that” Micheal said clapping his hands. Then Leaning forward, he said,

“I don’t need you to say a word, Chief Anthony. I already have someone who knows all your dirty secrets and won’t hesitate to spill them out on your behalf” He said with a smirk.

“Keep dreaming,” Chief Anthony said.

Then standing to his feet, Micheal reached for his suitcase and brought out some documents which he arranged on Chief Anthony’s reading table after which, he went over to the bed and carried Chief Anthony who could not stand on his own as a result of the drugs he was injected with.

Carrying Chief Anthony to the table, Micheal made him sit on the chair facing the documents.

“What do you think you are doing?” Chief Anthony asked staring at him like a helpless child.

Then handing him a pen, Micheal said,

“Take this pen and sign on the provided space for signature,” Micheal said.

“Are you crazy? Why the hell do you think I would do that? I don’t know what you are plotting but I prefer you just kill me instead of getting me to sign these documents” Chief Anthony said.

“Well it’s never late to kill you, you know,” Micheal said.

Then checking his wrist watch he said,

“In a few minutes, you will have a near-death experience,” Micheal said.

“What are you talking about?” Chief Anthony asked.

“In a few minutes, you will begin to feel an excruciating pain all over your body. You will feel like your heart is about to pop out of your chest in pain. And when that happens, you will have no choice but to do as I said. Because only then, will you be able to get the antidote of the doze I injected you with. So you see, the ball is in your court” Micheal said with a shrug.

“You think you can trick me? Come off it, Micheal. Your lies won’t get me to sign these documents” Chief Anthony said.

“Fine. Let’s wait and see what happens in the next few minutes Chief Anthony” Micheal said.

And in a few minutes, just like Micheal had said, Chief Anthony began to feel pains inside his body.

The pain started lightly and gradually increased to a more severe and intense pain that he could not control or endure.

“What did you inject into my system?” Chief Anthony asked squeezing his stomach in pain.

“I guess the pain has begun” Micheal responded grabbing a seat for himself.

“What, did you inject into my system you monster?” Chief Anthony groaned with his entire system burning in severe pain.

“I injected you with a dosage of truth as we call it. It’s a drug used by drug lords to bring out the truth even from the strongest of men. It is also used to compel men of strong will into doing what they want or giving out the information they need from them” Micheal said.

“You are a devil Micheal. Why would you use such drugs on me?” Chief Anthony grumbled in pain.

“Because you are stubborn. But the good news is that, even the strongest of men cannot withstand the excruciating pain that comes from the drug that’s currently in your system. So just give up and do the needful” Micheal said crossing his legs.

A few moments later, Chief Anthony who could no longer endure the severe and unexplainable pain he was feeling in his system, began to plead for mercy.

“Fine Micheal. I will do it. I will sign the documents. So please give me the antidote already” He pleaded in pain.

“I like that, now here is the pen. Do the needful” Micheal said offering him the pen.

And without hesitation, Chief Anthony took the pen from his hand and quickly signed on the provided spaces for signature.

“I am done. Can you please give me the antidote now?” Chief Anthony asked.

But Micheal simply ignored him and packed up the documents from the table. After that, he arranged them back in his suitcase and said,

“I’m sorry. There is no available antidote for this drug. And don’t worry, you won’t die. You will just go through the pain for an hour or two depending on your body system. Then after that, you will fall asleep and wake up looking all good as usual” Micheal said, after which, he turned to leave.

“What? How could you do this to me? Come back here you monster!” Chief Anthony yelled out in severe pain.

When Micheal walked up to the door, he turned back and said,

“One more thing Chief Anthony, get ready to be entertained by the police,” He said with a smirk.

“Micheal…..!” Chief Anthony screamed out in pain and anger.

(At the police station the next morning)

Mrs Ifemi was brought out to meet her visitor only to see Micheal waving at her.

And as soon as she saw him, she quickly turned to return when Micheal raised the document in his hand.

“I have something you would like to see,” He said.

Hearing this, Mrs Ifemi reluctantly turned around and went on to sit before him.

“What is it?” She asked folding her arms.

“See for yourself,” Micheal said passing the documents to her.

And with reluctance and curiosity, she took the documents and flipped through them. Reading through the document, her eyebrow suddenly raised in disbelief and her eyes widened in shock.

“What’s the meaning of this?” She asked looking confused.

“It is just like you saw it in the document. Chief Anthony forced your husband into signing the business transfer documents and after that, he injected him with an illicit drug that gave him an instant stroke. That way, he would be able to prevent him from ever saying the truth” Micheal said.

“What? he did what to my husband?” Mrs Ifemi asked.

“You heard me right. And if you doubt me, you can as well go make your inquiries” Micheal said.

“No, this isn’t true. Chief Anthony wouldn’t do a thing like this to me” Mrs Ifemi said shaking her head in disbelief.

“Well, I’m sure you have worked with Chief Anthony for years now. And I believe you know his signature like the back of your palms. So take a closer look at the signature and tell me if it is fake. And you can as well confirm that of your husband” Micheal said.

Hearing this, Mrs Ifemi crosschecked the signatures and it indeed was that of Chief Anthony and her husband.

“How dare he do a thing like this to me?” Mrs Ifemi asked clenching her fist.

“In case you don’t know, he did it because he believes you will be dying soon,” Micheal said.

“What are you talking about?” Mrs Ifemi asked.

“I heard from a reliable source that Chief Anthony has plans to kill you once you get into prison. That way, all the things he took from you, and all his secrets, will be buried with you forever” Micheal said.

“What!” Mrs Ifemi exclaimed in shock.

“Mrs Ifemi, you will believe me when I say Chief Anthony is a serpent. If he had wanted to save you all these while, then he would have done so already. But he keeps giving you excuses and you believed him. He planned all these from the beginning just to get rid of you because you alone can bring him down. Anyways, the ball is in your court and the final choice is yours to make. You can either choose to keep his secrets and die after you’ve lost everything to him, or you open up, and reveal his involvement in your case” Micheal said.

After that, he stood up to leave.

“But why are you doing this? I thought you were supposed to hate me?” Mrs Ifemi asked.

“Yes, you are right. I still hate you. But after thinking things through, I then understood why you did the things you did 25 years ago. I mean, every woman would have done the same if they were in your shoes. And secondly, if there was anyone to punish you, then I want it to be me and not someone much worse than you. And Besides, you are still my blood regardless” Micheal said convincingly.

Then reaching for the documents, he left the police station leaving Mrs Ifemi in deep thought.

When Micheal stepped out of the police station, he went into his car, and Samson asked,

“How did it go?” He asked.

“I have shown her the documents. Now we just have to wait and hope that she falls for our trick and exposes Chief Anthony. For she is our last hope in exposing him” Micheal said.

A few hours later, Chief Anthony who was still recovering from the torture he went through from Micheal, was in his living room when a call came in from Silas.

“Hello,” Chief Anthony said as soon as he picked up the call.

“Have you watched the news?” Silas immediately asked.

“What news are you talking about?” Chief Anthony asked.

“Your face is all over the place as an accomplice in Mrs Ifemi’s crime. And I think very soon, the police will be coming to pick you up” Silas said.

“But how? How did they get to know about my involvement in the case?” Chief Anthony asked.

“Mrs Ifemi opened up to the police telling them about your involvement in the case. She gave them enough details about you. And from what I heard, they have already raided your orphanage home as we speak. So you better find a way to flee before they get to you. Because I am also planning to leave” Silas said after which, he ended the call.

As soon as the call ended, Chief Anthony then recalled the last words Micheal said to him before leaving his house the previous night.

“One more thing Chief Anthony, get ready to be entertained by the police”

And with that in mind, he knew for an instant that it was all Micheal’s doing.

“Micheal Pedro. You have indeed bitten more than you can chew” Chief Anthony said.

And without further hesitation, he packed up a few things and left his house.

Later that night, while Micheal and Samson were in the living room watching a TV program, They heard a heavy bang on the door.

And in a haste, Micheal pulled out his gun and walked to the door. When he finally pulled it open, he saw Alisha’s parents standing before him while panting helplessly.

Seeing them, Micheal quickly hid his gun and asked,

“What’s going on? Why are you two here?” He asked.

“Micheal, it’s Alisha,” Mrs Nicholas said.

“What about Alisha?” Micheal asked.

“She was taken by some group of men who attacked our house and left us this note to give to you,” Mrs Nicholas said handing a letter to Micheal who immediately took it from her and read its content.

“Micheal, I think it’s high time we settled our scores once and for all. Come to the location written below the letter before 10 pm. Failing to do that, Alisha will die. And if you are wise enough, you will come alone” the content said.

When Micheal was done reading it, he angrily squeezed the paper. And with anger he said,

“I guess it’s finally time to end it all” Micheal said clenching his fist in anger.
