George’s gaze lingered on Kate’s peaceful face, his mind racing with questions.
Why had she kept this secret?
How did Ava come into the picture?
What’s the relationship between Kate and Ava?
He sat beside Kate, gently brushing a strand of hair from her face.
Kate stirred, her eyes fluttering open.
“George?” she whispered.
“Who rescued me from the burning car, Kate?” George asked, his voice low and urgent.
Kate’s eyes widened, and she sat up, her heart racing.
“What do you mean?” she stammered.
George’s eyes narrowed.
“Don’t play dumb, Kate. I’ve seen the footage. It was you.”
Kate’s face paled, and she looked away.
“How did you…?” she trailed off.
George’s voice softened.
“Tell me, Kate. Why keep it a secret?”
Kate’s eyes met George’s, a mix of fear and vulnerability.
“I want to tell you, but you misunderstood me… The 4 million you gave me? I gave it back to my family… because I had used my sister’s card to pay for the hospital bills.”
George’s expression changed from shock to surprise.
“Oh my goodness, and all this while I’ve been calling you greedy, but you kept quiet. I’m so sorry, dear.”
He hugged her tightly.
“I don’t know anything about you. Why did your family send you out?”
Kate’s voice trembled.
“It’s a long story. My parents are late. I stay with my uncle and his family… But they drove me away when I brought the money you had given me back. They said I stole it. That’s when I had to leave.”
George’s heart went out to her.
“Kate, I’m so sorry for putting you through all this pain. I promise from here forward, I’ll make you feel like a princess.”
Kate smiled, feeling a sense of relief.
“Thank you.”
They shared another hug.
George asked her to sleep while he went downstairs.
Kate slept, while George called Ava and told her he had returned to the country.
“Ava, we need to meet,” George said firmly.
“Where?” Ava asked hesitantly.
“The first place we met,” George replied. “The accident scene.”
Ava stammered, “No, we should go to a better place..
I wish to engage you there, as this is the place we met.”George said.
We can get engage anywhere hence not there,Ava replied.
Why are you arguing with me and refusing?
Don’t you want me anymore? George said.
I want you,but I don’t remember the accident scene again,Ava said.
George’s tone turned cold.
“You don’t know the place because you weren’t the one who saved me. I called to tell you to tell your father to return my 50 million by tomorrow, or you won’t like what I’ll do to you… l!ar.”
Ava’s voice trembled.
“George, please… don’t do this.”
George ended the call, his mind racing with strategies.
*******NEXT DAY******
The next morning, George woke Kate with a gentle kiss.
“Good morning, beautiful,” he whispered.
Kate smiled, stretching.
“Good morning, George.”
George handed her a tray of breakfast.
“I ordered your favorite,” he said, smiling.
Kate’s eyes sparkled.
“How did you know my favourite.”
I asked my grandma and she told me…George said
Oh I get.
Kate replied
As they ate, George mentioned
Why don’t we get married?
No,we don’t Love each other,beside I don’t want you to marry me out of pity or because I’m pregnant…. Kate replied
But we can do it for the baby,’cant we George asked..
Kate replied…let’s just eat…
They ate and George got ready and left for work.
*******4 HOURS TIME******
George went to Ethan’s family house to retrieve his money, only to find out that everywhere was locked.
He smiled and ordered one of his guards to trace them.
“Find out where they are,” George instructed.
Then he went out to get baby things and returned back home.
As he stepped into the house, he was shocked to see many guys in his house.
One was beside granny, while granny asked him questions.
George asked one of his staff, “What’s going on here? Why so many men in my house?”
The staff replied, “Granny invited them from a blind date app. They’re here for Kate. Granny is looking for potential suitors for Kate.”
George’s face showed anger.
He went to the dining table, where grandma was interviewing one guy.
He told the guy to excuse them, which the guy did.
“Grandma, what’s this new drama?” George asked, irritated. “You wanted me to accept Kate; now I did. I even brought baby things. Why invite men to our home?”
Grandma replied, “If you want her, join the queue and try your luck. I have moved her things to the visitor’s room from your room. You have no right to her.”
“But she is carrying my child,” George questioned. “Will you just give her to another man when I’m here.?”
Grandma replied, “Join the queue or excuse me. I have a lot of people to interview.”
George angrily left and went to join the queue.
He told the person at the front of him, “Hey, man, just found out that the girl we came here for has epilepsy. Would you want to have a relationship with someone with epilepsy?”
The guy replied, “No, God forbid. They didn’t even tell us. Thank you for this information.”
The guy exited the line and left.
George used the same trick on everyone.
“Hey, man, this girl we came here for, she has H!V/A!DS.”
“No, no, I’m out of here.” Another exited the line and left.
“Hey, man, do you know she has kidney failure?”
“No way, I’m leaving.”
One by one, they left, until only George, one other guy, and the one granny was interviewing remained.
George approached the last guy.
“Do you know the girl you came here for is pregnant?”
The guy replied, “Yes, I know. I like her like that.”
George replied, “Do you know she has epilepsy, H!V/A!DS, and kidney failure? Do you want to be with someone who is sick and will waste your money?”
The guy replied, “If you’re still in the line,why can’t I? I can be with her and take care of her. I have the money.”
George’s face looked frustrated.
“Who is this idi*t?” he thought.
