George walked into his mansion, exhausted from the day’s events. His grandmother, Granny, greeted him warmly.

“George, dear, welcome back! How was your day?”

George sighed, dropping his keys on the console table. “It’s been a long day, Granny. I’ve got a lot on my mind.”

Granny’s eyes sparkled with concern. “Come, sit down, and tell me all about it. What’s troubling you?”

George followed Granny to the living room, taking a seat beside her.

“It’s just…I met Ava, the girl who supposedly saved my life,” George began.

Granny’s expression changed from curiosity to caution. “Ah, yes? And?”

George hesitated. “She asked me to marry her.”

Granny’s eyebrows shot up. “Marry her? Already?”

George nodded. “I know it’s sudden, but I refused…I told her she can be my friend.”

Granny’s gaze turned inquisitive. “And what about the delivery girl? Did you meet with her?”

“Yes, I saw her,” George replied. “She requested 4 million, and I sorted her out already. She isn’t only greรฉdy; she’s also chรฆp…I saw her in another man’s arms, hugging at her workplace.”

Granny’s tone turned sarcastic. “So, if someone hugs someone, it means they’re chรฆp?”

George defended himself. “Even at that, Grandma, she’s greedy. Who requests 4 million? Has she seen such an amount all her life?”

Granny’s expression remained unconvinced.

“I’m not here to argue with you,” George said, standing up. “I’ll go freshen up and eat.”

As George went upstairs, Granny picked up the phone and dialed the delivery company’s number.

******ON PHONE******”””

“Hello, Delivery Delights. How may I assist you?” a cheerful voice answered.

“Hi, I’d like to inquire about the delivery girl who came to our mansion yesterday,” Granny said.

“Let me check. Can you provide the order number or approximate time of delivery?”

Granny provided the details, and after a brief pause, the representative replied, “The delivery girl’s name is Kate. Did she do something wrong, ma’am?”

Granny reassured her, “No, nothing’s wrong. I just want to thank her personally for her service.”

The representative’s tone softened. “That’s lovely! Let me get her contact number for you.”

Granny smiled, awaiting Kate’s phone number.

The representative provided the number, and Granny thanked her.

As Granny hung up, George entered the dining area, curious.

“Granny, what’s going on?” George asked.

Granny’s eyes sparkled. “Just getting Kate’s phone number, the girl who slept in your room last night..I want to thank her personally.”

George raised an eyebrow. “Why?”

“Never mind, son,” Granny said, her voice soothing.

“I don’t know the game you’re playing, but I’m watching.”George said smiling at granny.

Granny’s eyes sparkled. “Eat first, then rest. We’ll discuss this later.”

George nodded and headed to the dining table.

Back at the Ethan family house, Kate arrived with a bag of money.

“Here, Aunty,” Kate said, handing over the bag. “This is the money I borrowed. I’ve brought it back.”

Her uncle’s eyes widened. “Where did you get so much money? Have you started st*aling?”

Kate shook her head. “No, Uncle. I borrowed it from a friend.”

Ava emerged from her room, curiosity etched on her face.

“Who loaned you such an amount?” Ethan asked, suspicion creeping into his voice.

Kate remained silent, avoiding Ava’s piercing gaze.

Ava approached her mother. “Mom, please make Kate leave. If George finds out she’s here, she’ll expose our secret, and our ticket to a life of luxury will be over.”

Her mother nodded.

“Kate, you’re a th.ef!” she exclaimed, slapping Kate. “You must leave before anyone traces the money to you.”

Ethan intervened. “She has nowhere to go. She’s the only family my late brother and his wife left behind.”

Ava’s voice turned cold. “If Kate doesn’t leave, Mom and I will.”

Ethan’s face fell, his heart heavy with the decision. “Fine, Kate. Pack your bags and leave.”

Ava entered Kate’s room, tossing her belongings out the window.

Kate gathered her scattered belongings, tears streaming down her face. She glanced at Ava, who stood in the doorway, a triumphant smile on her face.

“Leave now, Kate,” Ava spat. “And never come back.”

With her belongings in hand, Kate walked out of the Ethan family house.

Back at Granny’s mansion, she went to her room and dialed the number given to her by the delivery company. She called Kate. Kate picked up from the other end, her voice rising like she was crying.

“Who’s on the line?” Kate asked.

Granny’s mind shifted to concern. “What’s wrong with you? I’m the person you came to my house to deliver food yesterday, and you ended up in my grandson’s room.”

Kate’s voice from the other end started apologizing. “I’m sorry, ma. Please forgive me.”

But Granny replied, “I’m the one who’s supposed to apologize. But why are you sounding like you’re crying?”

Kate replied, her voice cracking, “My uncle threw me out of the house… I don’t know where to go… I’m just confused… I’m sorry; I shouldn’t be telling you this, ma. I will hang up.”

Granny’s tone turned gentle. “Where are you now? Just tell me.”

Kate hesitated before giving the address of her current location.

Granny asked her to wait, promising to send a car to pick her up immediately. “Don’t cry anymore; you’re safe now.”

Kate’s tears slowed, replaced by gratitude. “Thank you, ma.”
