ONE NIGHT OF PLEASURE, FOREVER BOUND
EPISODE 14
WRITTEN BY RUKEVWE MERRY
We will reschedule the engagement for another day. Meanwhile, Ava, I haven’t seen your mom since… isn’t she back from home?
Ethan replied to George. I have been trying to reach her, but her phone is off. I will go home to check.
Ava replied, “No need to go home. She is under captivity.” Pointing to everyone of them, Ava continued, “If anyone tries what my mom did today, you will be so sorry for what I will do to you guys.”
Ethan walked close to Ava and released a slap. “You are a she-devil! I will call the police right away to come capture you.” Ava laughed, “I have nothing to lose. If the police arrest me, you will never see your beloved grandnephew again.”
George stepped in. “Uncle, please don’t call the police. I will do what Ava says, so far my son is okay.” George rushed upstairs, and immediately a call came into his phone.
George picked up from the other end. “Sir, we have found your son’s location.” George replied, “Please keep your eyes on them. I will be on my way.”
George came downstairs again and told Granny and Ethan, who were still in the sitting room, that he was going to get medicine. Granny told him to come back early.
George drove to the train railway and got to the warehouse with police and his guards. They burst into the warehouse, only to find Jenson tied on the ground alongside Ava’s mom. The police surrounded the men and disarmed them.
George took Jenson and Ava’s mom out. On their way home, he called Granny inside the car to make sure Ava did not leave the house, telling her that he had found Jenson and Ava’s mom and was bringing them home with the police.
Granny replied, “I will do just that.” She climbed upstairs and locked Ava’s room door from outside. Ava noticed and knocked on the door, but Granny refused to open it.
Ava pounded on the door, her anger growing. “Open this door! If not, I’ll call my men to tΓ³rture Jenson!”
Granny replied firmly, “I don’t care. You can call them. You won’t leave this room until the police are here.”
Ava’s face twisted in rage. “You’ll regret what I’m about to do right now.”
Granny stood firm. “Your choice.”
Ava dialed one of her henchmen’s numbers, but it was off. She called another, same response. Her worry grew.
“Why is Granny suddenly bold?” Ava wondered. “Have they found Jenson?”
Just then, George, Jenson, Ava’s mom, and police officers arrived.
Ethan rushed to hug Jenson. “My boy, sorry for what your aunt did.”
He hugged his wife, tears of joy streaming down.
Granny, hearing their voices, went downstairs and hugged her great-grandson.
The police asked, “Where is Ava?”
Granny pointed upstairs.
Officers went to Ava’s room, dragging her out under arrest for k*dnapping.
“You have the right to remain silent,” an officer began, reading her rights as she was lead away.
Downstairs, the family took turns slapping Ava.
George slapped her. “For what you did to my grandma.”
Ethan slapped her. “For hurting my family.”
Granny slapped her. “For your wicked ways.”
Ava’s mom slapped her. “For shaming our family.”
George slapped her again “For scaring my son.”
Ava begged, “Mummy, Daddy, save me!”
But her parents turned their backs.
The police took Ava away, her cries echoing.
“Mummy…Daddy…help!”
The scene faded to black.
Back at Kate’s side, she attempted to transfer herself into her wheelchair to get water, but unfortunately, she lost balance and fell, striking her head on the ground. This incident resulted in a secondary traumatic brain injury (TBI).
A staff member quickly noticed and rushed Kate to the hospital. The staff immediately notified George.
“George, Kate’s had a home accident. Please come to the hospital,” the staff urged.
George rushed to the hospital, leaving Jenson in Granny’s care.
Throughout the night, George kept vigil beside Kate’s hospital bed.
The next morning, Kate regained consciousness, emerging from her post-traumatic amnesia.
“Baby,” she whispered, spotting George.
“What am I doing in the hospital?” Kate asked, confusion etched on her face.
Her gaze dropped to her stomach, and panic set in.
“What happened to my child?”
George’s expression revealed his shock.
“Do you remember me, Kate?” he asked gently.
Kate’s response was adamant.
“Where is my child.”
“Our child is fine”, George answered
George soothed her.
“Rest, let me get you some food.”
********DOCTOR’S OFFICE***********
George burst into the doctor’s office, excitement radiating from his face.
“Doctor, Kate remembers me!” George announced.
The doctor’s eyes lit up.
“That’s remarkable news, George. Let me show you something.”
The doctor handed George Kate’s X-ray images.
“Notice the significant reduction in cerebral edema,” the doctor pointed out, tapping on the X-ray. “Her brain activity is stabilizing, and the swelling has decreased substantially.”
George studied the images, fascinated.
“What does this mean for her recovery?” George asked.
The doctor leaned back in his chair.
“Kate’s spontaneous recovery is a testament to her brain’s resilience. The traumatic brain injury-induced memory retrieval phenomenon is rare, but it’s working in her favor.”
George’s eyes widened.
“Will her memories stay intact?”
The doctor nodded.
“We’ll continue monitoring her progress, but it’s likely her memories will remain intact. Kate’s brain has shown remarkable adaptability.”
George exhaled, relief washing over him.
“What’s the next step in her treatment?” George asked.
The doctor smiled.
“We’ll begin cognitive therapy to reinforce her memories and improve cognitive function. Physical therapy will also help her regain mobility.”
George’s face lit up with hope.
“Kate’s going to make a full recovery, isn’t she?”
The doctor’s expression turned optimistic.
“Given her progress, I’d say Kate has an excellent chance of regaining her former life.”
George beamed, clutching the X-ray images.
“Thank you, Doctor. This is the best news I’ve heard all year.”
The doctor smiled.
George left the doctor’s office, his heart filled with renewed hope and joy.
