Mina The Side Chick episode 12

MINA THE SIDECHICK
CHAPTER TWELVE

The next day, precisely at 10 AM, Stephan and I were already seated in the inspector’s office at the station. A few minutes later, Sandrine and her lawyer walked in and sat down. What surprised me about her entrance was that she looked well-dressed and smelled good, indicating that she had been allowed to go home the previous day. The inspector also entered, greeted us, and began the meeting.

The inspector explained that to take this case to court, we needed to ensure all facts about her story were clear. I wasn’t quite clear on what he said, so I asked Stephan to explain it to me later.

The Inspector then proceeded to ask me a few questions. Seeing my confused expression, he inquired,

“You said Sandrine here killed your children, didn’t you?”

“Yes, sir!”

“When was that, and where?”

“Saturday, precisely at 3 PM in February 2023, at her house on Ghana Street.”

“And were you a witness to this crime?”

“No…”

“Do you have any evidence to prove that Madam Sandrine here murdered your children?”

“No! But she has CCTV cameras in her house which could show who committed the crime,” I tried to convince him.

He turned to Sandrine and asked, “Is that true, ma’am?” My phone rang just then, and I saw it was Mama Ellen—George’s mother—calling.

“Actually, sir, my CCTV cameras weren’t working that day; I was planning to fix them the next day. So that particular day’s footage wasn’t recorded,” Sandrine replied with a cunning smile. My phone rang again, but I ignored it.

“And ma’am Mina, do you have any other proof?” The inspector pressed.

“No, sir!” I answered, wiping my eyes as tears streamed down. The pain in my chest felt like a hot knife plunging into my heart. Feeling weak but determined to stay strong, I walked out of the room without another word. As I left, my phone rang again. This time I answered irritably,

“What? Can’t I have a moment’s peace?”

“I am so sorry, my child; I didn’t mean to disturb you,” she said through tears.

“I’m sorry too, ma’am. It’s just been a terrible day. What’s happened?” I asked, softening my tone.

“George is dead! He committed suicide by jumping into the river,” she cried out.

“Jesus Christ!” I exclaimed in shock.

“Where are you now, mama?” I asked urgently.

“I’m at the bridge where it happened. The police called me,” she sobbed. She gave me directions to the bridge.

As I was about to inform Stephan that I needed to leave immediately, I overheard the inspector say,

“Please don’t involve yourself in such crimes again, Sandrine. What if I hadn’t been here? What would have happened to you?”

“I promise Inspector; it won’t happen again. Thank God My bro called you.” She said laughing. I saw Stephan on the other side coming towards the inspectors office. Which I was standing In front.
“ Are you okay?” he asked but I ignored it and immediately informed him that I was rushing home. Hurriedly Left the door and he followed me to where the car was parked.
He tried to fine out why I was crying and I told him my husband had committed suicide by jumping over the bridge.
“What happened?” he asked in shock
“I am on my way to find out”
