The next working day at the office was very dramatic as everyone kept talking, teasing and mimicking each other on their outfits and attitudes at the end of year party. There will be an urgent need to extend our resumption time from 7:30am to 10am so that lots of you ladies can have enough time for your makeup. I can imagine if trumpet had sounded that day, some of you would have escaped hell fire because you would have confused the angel at heavens gate because of your makeup transformation “Mr Tolu my Unit Head said”. Hahahahaha “everyone burst into an unending laughter”.
Am quite serious about this, during the party there where countless numbers of mistaken identity, okay just imagine Miss Abosede, did any of you recognize her, I had to systematically predict she was the one solely because of her unique bowl legs “Mr Tolu said”. You are so mean Mr Tolu, I can’t help but keep laughing, I thought you where busy putting up logistics “Maxwell said”.
Hehehehehe too busy to see that you where acting like you have made it in life by staying glue to Tomiwa, the Maxwell I know that would move round to exchange pleasantries with almost everyone, didn’t even stand up from his seat because he doesn’t want anyone to invade his date. Even the regional sales manager noticed and was asking me if you had a thing to do with Tomiwa especially when you went to walk her back to her seat “Tolu said”.
It got everyone wondering, it was so obvious that you both had been seeking for an opportunity to bond, because other persons had dates but yours seemed like a new relationship, as both parties laughed sheepishly at every word. We couldn’t say much because you both work from two different units, you hardly cross part in the office because of your job stratification and the dates where randomly picked else we would have concluded you picked your girlfriend “Catherine said”.
Hmmmm I didn’t notice I was that attached though, she made my day in all, cause she is smart, very intelligent, easy going and humble “Maxwell said”. Just in the middle of the discussion Tomiwa stepped into my office, immediately there was total silence. Hey good morning everyone ” she saluted”, yea goodmorning Pretty Tomilicious “Mr Tolu hailed”. She walked straight to my desk, it was glaring how shy she was carefully taking her steps as all eyes where spotted on her.
Hey Max goodmorning “she said in a very low tone”, good morning pretty Tomiwa, how are you? “I asked”. Absolutely gorgeous and fine, just decided to say hello and thank you for the weekend treat. A quick one please, I have a free dinner ticket for two courtesy of the management and would love you to come with me if you don’t mind “she said and dropped the ticket underneath my keyboard”. See you later she winked. My mouth was opened as I watched her use the exit then I began to understand the lyrics of speechless by Michael Jackson.
Immediately she left, everyone cleared their throat to send their messages across, I didn’t say a word further cause I was already having butterflies, what more can the son of man do. I was very meticulous, smart and timely so as to get home in time to prepare for my date.
At 7:05pm I got a call from Tomiwa requesting my house address, few minutes later she drove down to pick me for the event. I have never been that shy as I tried as much as possible to be cautious and mindful of every little act or behaviour during our conversation. Max I feel you are acting up, kindly loosen up so that our date can be fun like the other day “Tomiwa said”. Gosh! She sounded like a psychologist as I quickly tried to put up a defence that I was stressed because of the days job.
The event was exclusively for the big boys as none of my colleagues within my cadre where present. During one of the item on the agenda “A TOAST WITH THE GMD”, the GMD walked from table to table to exchange pleasantries. It was the first time meeting our General Managing Director in person, he walked close by to give a cheers to Tomiwa and I. Just after we had cheers he turned to Tomiwa and complimented her again for her immense contributions to the companies growth.
Anyways, enjoy the party. Your fiancé right? “He asked”. Yea my fiancé “she nodded as she smiled at me holding me firmly”. This was one of the sweetest feeling have had in a long while, though it got me thinking when we started dating without my knowledge. While my mouth was yet to shut by itself to wake me from my day dream, she gave me a sip from her glass of champagne and drop a light kiss on my lips.
