“Do you remember Anthony Francis? During the national youths boxing, he had won over me but because of our influence, I was the one that they gave the award. I don’t think he will be able to remember me now”. Joshua Jordon explained to his father when he got home that evening.
“So you guys met when you were teenagers and coincidentally we had to face him again in court five years ago? Such fate”. Jordon whispered cynically.
“It was because of him that Clara turned me down”.
“Did she say that?”.
“No, father but I could see it in her eyes”.
“The only reason you like that girl is because the man whom you still see as a competitor loves her”.
“Father, that man is not up to being my competitor”.
“He has one of the most recognized art galleries in Nigeria. He is not to be underestimated”.
“I am also planning to start up a cocoa plantation”.
“Also? Is he starting one too?”.
“Yes. I overpaid the landowner and asked him to return Tony’s money to him”.
“We have thousands of plantations in Nigeria. Why are you targeting the one that he selected?”.
“I want to teach him that money is power”.
Jordon shrugged. “Besides, I thought you had plans of settling in France with your soon to be wife”.
“She did not accept me. I have to prove to her that I am better than the love of her life so that she will be able to accept me”.
Joshua drove to the land owner’s house the next morning.
The man walked out of the house with Anthony Francis immediately he parked his car.
“Have you told him about the change of plans?”. Joshua asked the landowner and completely ignored Anthony .
The man gave Joshua back his bag of money. “There is no change of plans”.
Joshua gasped. “Did he increase the money? I promise to do that too”.
“His offer is not up to yours even till now but I want to give my land to him”.
“Why?”.
“He acknowledged my son. My son has been looking for that value for years and then, Anthony Francis came into our life”. With that, he walked back into his house.
Tony chuckled. “Are you thinking that today will be like that day that you took my award because of your father’s influence? My dear, it is not everything you buy with money”.
“You recognized me?”.
“Why not?We even met again five years ago at the court on the island”.
“Are you feeling better than me now because the love of your life rejected me and now the landowner rejected me? You think Clara Thompson will ever accept you?”.
Tony raised a brow. “I never even knew that she rejected you. I feel your pain bro”. He said sarcastically.
“Her father will never accept you”.
Tony shrugged. “Whatever will be will be”. He entered his car and drove off, leaving Joshua behind.

“Anthony Francis, do you want to join the ring? You have been a good boxer in the local ring. You will be able to beat up all these aje butter pikins dem”. Fred said mischieviously as he nudged him.
Tony looked straight in the eyes of the young boy that Fred had advised him to challenge. “What is the name of the guy?”.
“Joshua Jordon. He is the son of the owner of Jordon company. His dream is to be a boxer but his father wants him to be a medical doctor”.
Tony courageously lifted a hand right there in the crowd. “I will challenge Joshua Jordon”. Everyone became silent and stared at him.
He felt more encouraged when he saw the smirk on Joshua’s face.
The two young boys challenged each other in the ring and in just something that looked like ten minutes, Joshua Jordon was on the floor.
But long story cut short, even if Tony had needed the money so much, he watched the rich kid take his award.
After that happened, he had lost hope that he will be successful until he walked into the life of the Thompsons.
“What do you think you are doing?”. Smith Thompson asked Clara when he saw her packing her things into a box in her room.
“What does it look like I am doing?”.
“Are you leaving my house because I said you must marry Joshua?”.
She stopped what she was doing and glared at him. “That poor boy suffered five years in prison because of you! He was so loyal to you, he was even ready to die for you!!!”.
“What has all these got to do with Joshua?”.
“If I don’t marry Anthony, you don’t have to bother about my singlehood anymore”.
He scoffed. “You think Tony will even accept you?”.
“I don’t care about anything, all I know is that I am not going to marry a man that I do not love”.
“The moment you step out of this house, bear it in mind that I have disowned you”.
With a hard and straight face, she walked out of her father’s house with her box.
That was the first time that his daughter had challenged him.
Clara Thompson has changed.
