A Russian female climber has shocked online community after posting a vertigo-inducing clip of herself perched on the edge of the world’s second highest building.
Angela Nikolau, 29, scaled the 2,227ft Merdeka Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with her boyfriend Ivan Beerkus. She noted that it is ‘the most beautiful skyscraper’ she has ever visited.
The video accompanying the post shows her dressed in red, dangling her legs over the side of the tower and playfully sunning herself, with the vast cityscape below her.

On Twitter Nikolau wrote: ‘I fell in love with the Merdeka 118 Tower the moment I saw it. I felt an instant spiritual connection. Such a majestic building in the middle of an amazing city – I had to discover and share the views with others.’
She added: ‘I started the mission. I was wearing a hijab, glasses and a builder’s uniform to look as unnoticeable as possible. I ran the first 32 floors and got overheated. I had to lie down on the concrete floor n***d to cool down a little bit. I drank all the water I had.’
Nikolau also noted that she had rented an apartment with a good view of the tower, so that she could conduct survelliance of the building. She spent several weeks researching details that would help her with the climb.
Nikolau posted other images and videos of her Merdeka Tower adventure on Instagram.

In one post she wrote: ‘I have climbed the second highest building in the world – MERDEKA TOWER! That’s the most beautiful skyscraper where I’ve ever been.’
Another post shows her doing a yoga-like pose at the top of the tower as the camera zooms out to display an impressive view of the high rises and mountainous backdrop.
A third post shows her at the top of the tower posing and playing with her hair.
Nikolau’s Instagram account is full of glamourous photos of her activities.
On her social accounts she describes herself as being the ‘world’s most extreme roofer girl inspired by art and heights’, as well as an extreme creator and a painter.
Nikolau told MailOnline: ‘Futuristic, epic skyscrapers like these have always attracted me as an artist.’
On her plans for this year she said: ‘I want to keep making art on roofs of the world and put together a solo art exhibit. I also want to take my grandmother to Paris and show her the Eiffel Tower: as tourists of course, not as roofers.’
Malaysian police said in December that they were investigating Nikolau and Beerkus for trespassing.
The 118-storey Merdeka Tower is due for completion by mid-2023, according to the developer. A hotel will take up the top 17 floors.
PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Ab Aziz Tengku Mahmud said in August: ‘The offices can move in first while the hotel will be [ready] by the third quarter of next year.’
The building is dwarfed only by the 2,716ft Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which opened on January 4, 2010.
