EPISODE 9
WRITTEN BY RUKEVWE MERRY
Alex arrived at Maya’s doorstep, his heart racing with anticipation and anxiety. He had been thinking about her and the child nonstop since their encounter on the street. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, and knocked on the door.
Maya opened the door, looking tired but determined. “Alex, what do you want?” she asked, her voice firm.
“I want to know the truth,” Alex said, his voice shaking slightly. “Is the child mine?”
Maya sighed, her expression hard. “No, Alex. The child is not yours. Can you leave already?”
Alex’s anger boiled over, his jealousy consuming him. “So you allowed him to make love to you without protection? You’re a wh.re, Maya! I h@te you!”
Maya’s eyes flashed with anger. “I h@te you too, Alex. Now you know the truth, can you get lost?”
Alex’s hands trembled with rage as he grabbed Maya’s cheek, his fingers digging into her skin. “I don’t believe you, Maya. I know this child is mine. It’s my child. Where did he touch you? How did he touch you?”
Maya tried to push him away, but Alex held tight, his lips inches from hers. “Did he kiss you like this?”
Maya’s face twisted in disgust as she managed to free herself, shoving Alex away. “Get out of my house, Alex! Now!”
Alex’s eyes blazed with fury, his voice rising. “I’m not going anywhere, Maya! You broke my heart, but you’re going to pay for it.
Maya stood tall, her voice cold. “You broke your heart yourself, Alex. You should have trusted me.
“You claim you are intelligent, a businessman, but you can’t read between the lines,” Maya said, her voice laced with frustration. “Suddenly, the day you return back is the day you caught me in the hotel. How did you get the hotel address? How come the room was open, and you just burst in? Yes, I was a pr.stitute, I didn’t keep that a secret from you, but you have little trust for me. I told you I know nothing about what happened that day, but you choose not to believe me. Dave is behind it.”
Maya’s words hung in the air, a mixture of anger and sadness. Alex’s face twisted in a mixture of emotions, his eyes flashing with anger and hurt.
“I met Dave, before I met you,” Maya continued. “He happens to be one of my clients. In fact, the day we met, “Actually, I was running out of the hotel room that day to escape from Dave when you accidentally hit me with your car.”He carried me that day, but he was too rude. We had a confrontation, and since then, he h@tes me.”
Alex’s eyes widened in shock, his mind reeling with the new information.
“Now you can leave,” Maya said, her voice cold. “I don’t have anything else to tell you.”
With that, Maya pushed Alex out of her house, locking the door behind him. Alex hit the door, demanding that Maya open it, but she didn’t. He was left standing outside, his anger and confusion boiling over.
As he drove away, Alex’s mind raced with thoughts of Maya’s words. He remembered the strange phone call that had led him to the hotel.
Determined to get to the bottom of things, Alex decided to confront Dave. He arrived home. He parked his car and approached the gate man.
“I want answers,” Alex said, his voice firm. “That day we confronted you about Dave going out, you said he didn’t go out. Please tell me the truth. Did Dave tell you to l!e?”
The gate man hesitated, clearly uncomfortable. “Okay, fine. Yes, Dave told me to say he didn’t go out. He gave me a thousand bucks to keep quiet.”
Alex’s anger boiled over. He stormed into the mansion, his mind racing with thoughts of confrontation. But his mother intercepted him, concern etched on her face.
“Alex, what’s wrong? Why do you look so upset?”
Alex ignored her question, instead asking one of his own. “That day you said you heard Dave’s music playing from his room, did you go in and see him?”
His mother hesitated. “No, I didn’t. Your father and I just heard the music. Dave always listens to music when he’s in his room.”
Alex’s eyes flashed with anger. “Thanks, Mom.” He turned to leave, but his mother grabbed his arm.
“Alex, what’s going on? Why are you asking these questions?”
Alex shook her off, his jaw clenched. “Nothing, Mom. Just drop it.” He stalked off, determined to confront Dave once and for all.
Alex walked down the hallway, his footsteps quiet on the carpet. He was getting close to Dave’s room. Suddenly, he heard Dave’s voice, arguing with someone.
“I can’t do anything else,” Dave said. “The money I paid you to pretend to be with Maya was enough.”
Alex’s eyes widened in shock. What was Dave talking about? He slowly pushed open the door and burst into the room.
Dave was standing there, his phone in hand, looking shocked. Alex grabbed the phone and put it to his ear.
“If you don’t send me the money this minute, I will tell your brother you set his wife up and accuse her wrongly,” a voice said on the other end.
Alex was shocked and surprised. “Dave, are you behind setting my wife up?” he asked, his voice trembling with anger.
Before Dave could reply, Alex gave him a d!rty slap. Dave fell to the floor, and Alex started hitting him, his fists flying in every direction.
His mom ran into the room, trying to separate them. “What’s going on here?” she asked, shocked and horrified by the scene before her.
Alex explained, pointing at Dave. “Mom, this imbec!,le set my wife up! Maya was innocent; he planned it because Dave has an issue with her. When she was working on the street, they had an encounter that went wrong.”
Before Alex could land another blow, Dave shouted, “Yes, I did it! And I will do it over again. How dare you bring a pr.st.tute to our house?
Are you better than her? You, who patronize a prost.it.te, are as same as a prost.tute.” Alex said
Alex’s mom was shocked by Dave’s words. “Dave, how could you?” she asked, her voice trembling with anger and disappointment.
Dave looked up at Alex, a mixture of anger and hatred in his eyes. “You’re no better than me, Alex. You’re just as guilty. You brought a prost.tute into our family?”
Alex’s mom stood tall, her eyes blazing with anger and hurt. “Which family, Dave? What have you done for this family? You made us h@te Maya for your selfish act… never have I treated you bad any day, even when I didn’t know the blood that ran through your veins.”
Dave’s eyes narrowed, confusion etched on his face. “What do you mean?”
Alex’s mom took a deep breath, her voice trembling. “Dave, you are a child I and my husband picked from the street. Many years ago, we were coming from a trip where we saw a small boy left in the street by a woman. We asked around, no one came out to your rescue, it was only I and my husband who had pity for you and took you to the station. We kept checking on you, and finally, I couldn’t leave without you… so we abducted you.”
Dave’s eyes widened in shock, his face pale. He felt a cold run down his spine as the new revelation shocked him. He had never suspected that he wasn’t his parents’ biological child.
Alex’s eyes were also wide with shock, he had never known that Dave wasn’t his biological brother.
Dave knelt down, his voice shaking. “Mom, please forgive me. I didn’t know… I had no idea.”
Alex’s mom nodded, tears streaming down her face. “I know, Dave. I’m sorry we never told you. But please, forgive us too. We were wrong to keep it from you.”
Dave nodded, his eyes filled with tears. “I forgive you, Mom. And Alex, I’m sorry for what I did. I was wrong to hurt Maya.”
Alex nodded. “I forgive you, Dave. But please, let’s make things right by asking Maya for forgiveness.”
