Alex returned home, feeling happy and relieved after a successful day. As he walked through the door, he was met with smiling faces. His mom and dad were beaming with joy, and they immediately congratulated him.
“Alex, we have some amazing news!” his mom exclaimed. “The government contract you were working on, the one to construct the new bridge, has been approved! You got the job, son!”
His dad patted him on the back, a wide grin on his face. “We’re so proud of you, Alex. This is a huge accomplishment. You’ve worked so hard for this.”
Alex smiled, feeling thrilled and relieved. “Thanks, Mom and Dad. I’m really happy about the contract.”
His mom nodded, already planning the next step. “We’ll throw a dinner party tomorrow evening, invite all our friends and colleagues, workers and family. It’ll be a wonderful opportunity to share your achievement with everyone.”
Alex’s dad chimed in, “And we want to know, what’s your secret to success? What’s your lucky charm?”
Alex smiled mischievously, “Actually, I think my lucky charm is Maya.”
His parents looked at each other curiously, “Who is Maya?” they asked in unison.
Alex smiled, “Dad, you will meet her soon. She’s the love of my life. I’ll invite her to the party.”
His parents exchanged a knowing glance, their faces filled with excitement and anticipation. They couldn’t wait to meet the girl who had stolen their son’s heart.
“Ah, we can’t wait to meet her!” his mom exclaimed.
“Yes, we’re looking forward to it,” his dad added.
Alex smiled, feeling happy and relieved that his parents were open to meeting Maya. He knew that their approval would mean a lot to him, and he was eager to introduce them to the love of his life.
“I’ll go invite her now,” Alex said, pulling out his phone.
“Okay, dear,” his mom replied. “We’ll continue planning the party. Can’t wait to meet Maya!”
Alex nodded and headed upstairs to freshen up.
After freshening up, Alex picked up his phone and dialed Maya’s number. She answered on the first ring, and Alex couldn’t help but smile as he heard her voice.
“Hey, beautiful,” Alex said, feeling his heart skip a beat. “I have some great news to share with you.”
“What is it?” Maya asked, her voice filled with excitement.
“I just got the contract I was working on,” Alex said, beaming with pride. “And to celebrate, my parents are throwing a dinner party tomorrow evening. I want you to come with me.”
Maya’s voice was hesitant. “Alex, I don’t know…will your parents accept me?”
Alex’s heart went out to her. He knew Maya was worried about meeting his parents, but he reassured her. “Of course, they will. They’re eager to meet you, Maya. They know how much you mean to me, and they’ll love you just as much as I do.”
Maya’s voice softened. “Okay, I’ll come. But what if they don’t like me?”
Alex chuckled. “That’s impossible. My parents will adore you, Maya. You’re kind, smart, and beautiful. What’s not to love?”
Maya giggled, and Alex could almost hear her blushing over the phone. “Thanks, Alex. I’m looking forward to meeting them.”
“Great,” Alex said, feeling relieved. “I’ll come pick you up tomorrow evening at 6 pm. Be ready, okay?”
“Okay,” Maya replied. “I’ll be ready. Congratulations again on the contract, Alex. I’m so proud of you.”
Alex smiled, feeling grateful for Maya’s support. “Thanks, Maya. I couldn’t have done it without you. You’re my lucky charm.”
Maya laughed, and they chatted for a few more minutes before saying their goodbyes. Alex hung up the phone, feeling excited for the next day’s party and introducing Maya to his parents. He knew it would be a special night, one that would bring them all closer together.
The next day at 6pm, Alex came to pick Maya up for the party at his home. Maya was ready, dressed in beautiful attire, and Alex couldn’t help but notice how stunning she looked. “You’re beautiful,” he said, and Maya smiled profusely. They entered the car and drove to Alex’s place, where a plethora of guests, including well-known society figures and reporters, were already gathered, capturing every moment.
As they arrived, Maya’s anxiety grew. She was still reeling from the events of the previous night.But Alex reassured her, taking her hand and leading her into the crowd.
Alex introduced Maya to his parents, who welcomed her with open arms. Maya and Alex’s mom spoke for a while before Alex took Maya to introduce her to the other guests.
Just then, Dave arrived at the party, and Maya’s heart sank. She knew that he was up to no good, and she tried to avoid him. But Dave was relentless, speaking with Victor and asking him to make a speech to open the dance floor.
In the speech, Victor asked any lady to volunteer to dance with him, but when no one stepped forward, he pointed at Maya and asked her to come dance with him. Maya refused, but Victor tried to drag her to the dance floor by force. Alex asked Victor to stop, but Victor kept trying. Maya continued to refuse, and Victor held her arms, trying to drag her again.
But Alex ended up slapping him. “Is it by force to force a lady to dance with you?” Alex asked, his voice firm. But Victor replied, “You slapped me for this slut.” The word “slut” drew a lot of attention, including from the reporters. Alex shouted at Victor, “How dare you call my woman a slut?”
Victor clapped back, “Who doesn’t know her in this city? Should I start mentioning where she stands at night?” Alex’s father came to the scene, looking concerned. “Alex, what is Victor talking about? Is Maya a slut?” But Alex replied, “We will talk about that, but first, let me get this guy out of here.” By that, Alex kicked Victor out while Dave laughed from behind the scene…
