I didn’t kill Baami episode 6&7

I DIDN’T KILL BAAMI.

Episode 6

“Kemi, where were you”. Baami asked angrily.

My tongues felt tied because I can’t fathom what really happened too.

I remember being in that cupboard. How did I get into my room?

“I have been sleeping here since, Baami.”
That was the only lie I could think of.

“That’s not possible. With all the noise?”

I have to feign ignorance as hard as possible.

“What noise, Baami?”

“Your sister’s husband has taken Bisola away and the sign I’m getting is not a good one. How about you run an errand for me”. Baami said with a calm voice I have never heard him use. Not even when mama was alive.

He wants me to give my sister an incision before she is being attended to by any doctor.

He could have done it himself but he was forbidden to step into a hospital.

I agreed to do what he asked me to do with an ulterior motive.
But unfortunately, I wasn’t able to reach them before Bisola was admitted.

The hospital is quite a big one. I heard it’s owned by a missionary. It even has a psychiatrist building for mentally deranged people.

I was about entering the main hall when a commotion caught my attention.

Some medical officials were struggling with an elderly woman.
She seemed to be saying something. She was really struggling to be set free to run.
Not out of the hospital but…

In a twinkle of an eye, she has broken out if their grip.
And began to run.

Why is she running towards me?

“Hold her o. Please hold her!!! I kept screaming as I ran into the hall as she followed.

Baami once told us that being chased by a mad woman was a bad omen. He warned us sternly about mad women.

Mo ġbè o.

What will happen to me now?

I began to think of the possible bad omen that could before when I heard my name.

“Kemisola!!”

Did this mad woman just call my full name?

I DIDN’T KILL BAAMI.

Episode 7

I stopped in my track when I heard my full name.
No one has ever called me that except Baami whenever he’s doing a ritual on us.

“Kemisola”.
She called again.

“Please wait.”

The medical personnel were surprised at the way she spoke.

“Do you know her?”. One among them asked me.

I said no and immediately, she began sob.

“Kemisola, I’m your mother.” She broke the bombshell.

No. It can’t be.

This woman doesn’t look like my late mama.
How can some psychiatric patient come up as my mother.

My feet felt numb, and I fainted.

I opened my eyes on a hospital bed.
The first person I saw was Bisola’s husband.
And that mad woman who put me in this condition.

“Where’s Bisola?”. Was the first question I asked.

“She went into Coma and we don’t know when she’ll come around. That’s what the doctor said.” Bisola’s husband replied.

“And what’s this mad woman doing here?”. I still asked.

“We’ll talk about that as soon as you are discharged.”

“No!! Tell me why she’s following me. How did she know my name. Why’s she crying?”

“Because she’s truly your mother”. He said.

“What! How’s that Possible? Mama is dead”

“It’s a long story my daughter. Alot happened that separated us from you and your siblings”
She finally spoke.

“Who’s the us?”

“Your dad and I?”

” I don’t know what you’re talking about but Baami is my father.”

“No, he’s not.” She replied immediately.

“He’s your father’s Elder brother. It fell on your father to take over the family’s ritual but he refused. Your father hated to take anyone’s life but his elder brother accepted the position after your father declined. He had always had his eyes on that position. He had always envied your father. As a punishment, he killed your father and took you and your siblings. He’s the reason I’m here today. Killed my 5 sons and posed as your father because he didn’t have a child of his own. He’s an evil man.”
She said all these in one breath.

Everything seemed like a Nollywood movie.
I don’t believe all she’s saying.

“Why should I believe you? What’s your prove?”. I asked her in tears.

“You can ask the doctors. I have been here for 20 years and more. You can doubt me but I’ll prove it soon.”

Deep down I don’t want to believe all she’s saying and at the same time I’m praying it’s true.

“We were never supposed to see ourselves. Currently, Baami’s life is at stalk. You’ll have to go home. Tell him Bisola is dead. He might suspect something but don’t act to confirm anything.”

If this woman is my mother who was mama.

“She was his wife. You said she commited suicide?”

“Yes.” I replied.

“You’re wrong. That woman was a kind woman. Her conscience must have judged her and she wanted to tell you the truth and Baami killed her”.

I suspected as much. I noticed it too. I knew she wouldn’t just kill herself.

I got discharged and I went straight home. To meet Baami.

To be continued….
