HEART OF LIES
EPISODE 6
When Daniel came back from work, he met Gift sleeping on the couch. He dropped his bag and gently carried her to their room, laying her on the bed and covering her with a blanket.
“Sleep tight,” he whispered, even though he knew she wouldn’t hear him.
He then went to the sitting room, took his bag, and headed back to the room. He removed his clothes, took a refreshing shower, and got dressed in comfortable clothes.
After that, he went to the kitchen, microwaved his food, and ate in silence. He wasn’t hungry, but he knew he needed to eat.
After eating, he cleared the dishes and headed to the sitting room. He sat down, turned the TV on, but he wasn’t concentrating. His mind was elsewhere.
He then picked up his phone and called Rachel. She picked up on the first ring.
“Hey, I’ve missed you so much,” Daniel said, smiling.
“I’ve missed you too,” Rachel replied. “How was your day?”
Daniel sighed. “It was long. I’m glad to be home.”
They talked for a very long time, laughing and catching up. Daniel felt alive again.
“Switch to video call,” Rachel said suddenly. “I have something to show you.”
Daniel’s heart skipped a beat. “Okay,” he said, quickly switching to video call.
And then he saw Rachel lying on the bed, stark n***d , a sly smile on her face.
“Hey,” she said, waving at him.
Daniel’s eyes widened as he took in the sight of her. “Wow,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Rachel laughed. “I’m glad you like what you see,” she said.
Rachel started to tease Daniel, playfully touching her hair , her b**bs and smiling seductively.
“You’re so beautiful,” Daniel said, his voice filled with desire.
Rachel laughed. “You’re making me blush,” she said.
Daniel smiled. “I mean it,” he said. “I love you.”
Rachel’s expression turned serious. “I love you too,” she said. “I can’t wait to see you again.”
Daniel’s heart skipped a beat. “Me neither,” he said. “Soon.”
They talked for a few more minutes, exchanging sweet nothings and longing gazes.
Finally, Rachel said goodnight, and Daniel reluctantly ended the call.
He sat in the dark, his heart still racing from their conversation. He knew he had to end things with Gift, but he was scared.
As he sat there, he heard a noise behind him. He turned to see Gift standing in the doorway, a look of sadness on her face.
“Daniel, we need to talk,” she said.
Daniel’s heart sank. He knew this conversation was inevitable.
“Okay, let’s talk,” Daniel said, trying to sound calm.
Gift walked into the sitting room and sat down next to him. “I know something’s going on,” she said. “You’ve been distant and distracted for months . And just now, I saw the way you were looking at your phone…the way you were smiling at her , tell me who she is .”
Daniel sighed, knowing he couldn’t deny it any longer. “Gift, I…I have something to tell you.”
Gift’s eyes filled with tears. “You’re leaving me, aren’t you?” she said.
Daniel hesitated, not wanting to hurt her. “It’s not that simple,” he said.
But Gift cut him off. “Don’t lie to me, Daniel. I deserve the truth.”
Daniel took a deep breath and told her everything – about Rachel, about their conversations, about their feelings for each other.
Gift listened, her face crumbling as the truth sank in.
When Daniel finished, Gift stood up and walked away, tears streaming down her face.
“I need time to think,” she said. “Don’t follow me.”
Daniel nodded, feeling a mix of guilt and relief.
As he sat there, he knew he had made a mess of his life. But he also knew he couldn’t go back now, he loved Rachel so much and would sacrifice anything to be with her..
