From Housemaid To Oga’s Wife Episode Three

Martins stood by the door, not sure what to do. The knocking became louder and more serious. “Open this door now!” Jessica shouted. Nnenna looked at him with panic in her eyes. “You can’t open that door, Martins. She’ll kill me if she finds you here,” she whispered. Martins scratched his head and looked around the room. “What do we do now? There’s no way out!” he said. Nnenna’s hands were cold. She felt lost. “We must find a way. You can’t be caught here. Not now.”

She pulled his hand and dragged him towards the wardrobe. “Go inside,” she said. Martins tried to enter the small space, but his body didn’t fit. “I can’t enter,” he said in frustration. “This thing is too small.” Nnenna pushed and tried to force him in, but it was clear it wouldn’t work. Jessica was already shouting, “I will break this door! You’re hiding something!” Martins looked around again.

“Maybe under the bed?” he suggested. Nnenna shook her head quickly. “That bed is too low. She’ll see you instantly.”

They were running out of time. The banging got louder. “Nnenna, open this door before I break it down!” Jessica screamed. Martins was sweating. He could hear Jessica kicking the door.

“Do something fast,” he said. Nnenna’s eyes moved to the window. “The window,” she said in a low voice. Martins turned to look at it. “Will I fit?” he asked.

“Just try,” she replied. Without thinking twice, she opened the window wide and helped him climb up. Martins held the frame and jumped out. He landed hard on the floor outside but didn’t make a sound.

As soon as Martins disappeared, Nnenna shut the window. She ran to the door and opened it. Jessica rushed in with her wrapper tied tightly and her eyes sharp.

“Where is he? I saw him enter this room!” she shouted. Nnenna stood by the door with a straight face. “Madam, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she replied. Jessica marched into the room and started checking everywhere. She lifted the mattress. She opened the bathroom. She even checked under the bed. Nothing.

Jessica turned back to face her. “You’re telling me you didn’t see my husband come in here?” she asked.

Nnenna folded her arms. “I’ve been sleeping, madam. Nobody came in here,” she answered. Jessica looked around again. She wasn’t satisfied. “I saw him with my two eyes! He walked into this room,” she insisted.

“Maybe he entered another room, madam. But not here,” Nnenna said calmly. Jessica hissed and looked at her suspiciously. She didn’t want to admit she could be wrong.

Jessica stormed out of the room and banged the door behind her. Nnenna stood still for a while, listening. She waited until everything became quiet again. Then she went to the window and peeped out. She saw Martins hiding behind the wall, rubbing his knees. She opened the window gently. “You can go back to the room now. She’s gone,” she whispered. Martins nodded and disappeared into the dark. Nnenna closed the window and locked it. Her legs were shaking. That was a close call.

The next morning, Martins walked into the living room like nothing happened. Jessica was sitting on the sofa, looking at him. “Good morning, honey,” Martins said casually. Jessica stared at him. “Where were you last night?” she asked. Martins yawned and stretched his hands. “I was pressed. I went to the restroom, then I sat in the study room for a while,” he lied. Jessica didn’t say a word. She just kept looking at him. “Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked with a smile. Jessica shook her head. “Nothing,” she replied.

Martins sat on the chair and turned on the TV. Jessica stood up and walked into the kitchen. Nnenna was there, preparing breakfast. Jessica looked at her carefully. “How was your night?” she asked. Nnenna turned around. “Fine, madam. I slept well,” she said. Jessica nodded.

Nnenna continued frying the eggs. Her mind was busy. She knew Jessica was getting suspicious. She had to be more careful. Later that day, Martins came to the kitchen when Jessica was upstairs. He whispered to Nnenna, “You’re a smart girl. That escape last night saved us both.” Nnenna smiled faintly. “But it can’t happen again. That was too close,” she replied. Martins touched her back softly. “I know. I’ll be more careful. But I can’t stay away from you,” he said. Nnenna looked at him. “We must plan well. We can’t make any more mistakes.”

That night, Martins didn’t go to Nnenna’s room. He stayed in the bedroom with Jessica. She noticed it. “You didn’t sneak out tonight. Why?” she asked him. Martins laughed. “Sneak out? I don’t understand. I told you, I went to the restroom,” he replied. Jessica watched him. “If I ever catch you with that girl, I’ll disgrace you,” she said. Martins frowned. “Which girl?” he asked. “You know the girl. That housemaid,” she replied. Martins turned away. “You’re just being paranoid. That girl doesn’t even look like my type,” he said.

Jessica hissed. “You men are all the same. You like to pretend,” she said and turned her back on him. Martins smiled quietly. He knew the game was getting riskier, but he was not ready to stop. He was deeply in love with Nnenna, and he hated the fact that he was married to a woman he didn’t love. Nnenna was the only one who made him happy. But now, they had to play the game smarter. One mistake and everything would scatter.

In her room, Nnenna couldn’t sleep. She kept thinking about everything. “This thing we’re doing is getting dangerous,” she said to herself. But her love for Martins was strong. She wanted to be with him. She was sure one day the truth would come out, but she prayed it wouldn’t be now. She needed time. Time to win Jessica’s full trust. Time to make Martins see a clear path. Time to secure her position in the house. Because one day, she believed, she wouldn’t be just a maid. She would be the madam.
