Episode 1
©️ Shedrach Baba“I am looking forward to the handover this week Sunday”
, Olubo said as he discussed with his two friends in a restaurant.“Presido, the new Papa”,Ugo chimed in.
“Thank you, but I am not yet the Youth President”, Kingsley grinned as he consumed the plate of rice and stew on his table.
“Emphasis on the ‘yet’, it is obvious it is going to be you, you have been in this church for long, I mean you are currently the vice president” Olubo stated.
It was vividly clear to Kingsley and his friends who the new Youth
President is going to be. Kingsley joined the church in his 100 level days and some months from now, he is going to be in his finals.Kingsley had dreamed of becoming the Youth President in his church for quite a while now.
“Pastor Segun even confirmed it, Presido!, Chop am”
, Ugo gave an high five.Kingsley and his friends left the restaurant after they finished their meal.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Kingsley, Mr. Ugo and Mr. Olubo”
, A guy named Moses greeted them while they replied, then he entered the restaurant.Mr, he cannot even call me Papa, there is something about this guy I don’t like”, Kingsley was displeased at Moses for calling him Mr
“You mean Moses?, except for his over-spiritually, I think he is
cool”, Olubo said.“Speaking of which, you remember the dinner my department had a few days back, He refused to take alcohol and dance with the ladies, he made me feel like a sinner”
, Ugo chuckled.“Don’t mind him, he will learn, life is not that hard”
, Olubo shrugged.Ugo and Moses were in the same department but different levels, Olubo was entering 400 level while Moses was entering 300 level.
Later in the night,
“I want to thank God and you all for this opportunity to swerve as the Youth Pres….”
“Serve, not swerve”, Olubo interrupted Kingsley as he was
preparing his speech.“Bro, you matter don tire me(I am getting tired)”, Ugo complained.
This was the sixth time Kingsley has been corrected, yet he kept on making more mistakes. This surprised his friends because Kingsley was normally eloquent, surprisingly, today, he is not his usual self.
We should continue tomorrow, I guess I am tired”, Kingsley
yawned as jumped on his bed.The Sunday Kingsley was waiting for was finally here and it is going to be very surprising.
“Now, moving on, the new Media coordinator for this tenure, is no other person than, Mr. Ugo Okereke, a round of applause as he comes forward”, the Person on the Pulpit calling the names of newly appointed excos said.
“When Elisha needed to ascend, he said bring me a Minstrel, so to the Choir department, the new musical director is no other than person than, Mr. Olubo Oriyomi”
“MD”
Olubo was carried to the front by some energetic Choir members who were excited.
“Now, we are getting there, the new Drama coordinator and he also double as the Brother’s coordinator of the excellent youths, is Mr. Kingsley Agbaje”, the man declared.
The whole church grew silent, clearly not expecting Kingsley to be the new Drama coordinator.
“Is Kingsley not in church?, oh, there he is, celebrate him as he comes forward”, the man looked around and saw Kingsley walking to the front.
“How can this be?, Drama coordinator, hmm, then who is going to be the President,
“Ruth, I guess”, Kingsley was greatly surprised and he started thinking of the people who could be the new Youth President, so he thought of Ruth.
She started the church some months after he joined, she did her pre degree in the university.
“The Sister Coordinator and the new Vice President of the excellent youths is no other person than Ruth Otabor”.
“Our mama”
The ladies were excited and shocked
Everyone in the Church was greatly shocked, If Kingsley and Ruth were not the Youth President, then who could he/she be?.
They were soon going to find out.
“The moment you have all be waiting for, the Youth President for this tenure is!, maybe I should say it next week”
“We want to know”“Tell us!”, the youth replied.
The tension was growing and everyone was expectant to hear.

©️ Shedrach BabaThe moment you have all be waiting for, the Youth President for this tenure is!, maybe I should say it next week”
“We want to know”
“Tell us!”, the youth replied.
The tension was growing and everyone was expectant to hear.
“The Youth President for this tenure is Moses Babatunde”, the Minister finally declared.
There was a short moment of silence before the youth screamed.
“Papa Moses”
“Papa Moses”
“Presido”
The youth gyrated and the overzealous ones carried him on their shoulders.
Even though nobody was expecting Moses to be the Youth President, the youths were genuinely happy not because they really knew Moses but because they had a new President.
They would also be this excited if anybody was made the President, truly, the glory of the youth lies in their strength.
“Can we please call on our daddy in this house to pray for the new elected executives”, The minister called on the lead Pastor to pray for the excos and the hand over service came to an end.
“Congratulations, Papa, we knew you were going to be the President”
Some youth flattered Moses and felicitated with the newly selected executives of the church.
“How can they make Moses the President?, how could they?, the sacrifices that I have made”, Kingsley who was in the midst of his two friends was furious at the church decision.
A 200 level currently entering 300 level, made the President of the youths!, where on earth is it done?”, Olubo was also displeased.
“When I say this our church is local, you guys will be supporting it, Now, can you see for yourselves?”, Ugo hissed.
“Don’t worry, we will show him hell”, Kingsley swore.
Kingsley and his friends forgot the real essence of service in the house of God, Kingsley was serving God with the hope of one day becoming the Youth President, for when he was still a fresher, he loved the prestige that came from being the Youth President.
That shifted his gaze away from Jesus, he was working for God, for a reason that is not Jesus and this was when he started getting it all wrong. if Jesus is not the reason for your services in church, but a way of building connections or getting promotions, you are building your house on sand.
~~~
“God, what is all this?, I wanted to just do your work, this is just too much, should I leave the church?”, Moses contemplated because he didn’t want to be the Youth President.
“I just want to serve you but this position might be a distraction, this what I will do, I will jump boats but before I do that, I will have to change hostel”, Moses was still thinking, then he heard a knock at the door.
“Good evening Pastor”
“Good evening Papa Moses”, Pastor Samuel tapped Moses shoulder and entered his room.
“You can have your seat sir”, Moses removed his books from the only chair in the room.
“Thank you, Moses, I know what are you thinking, you are planning on changing church, right?”, Pastor Samuel laughed.
“Yes sir”, Moses was not surprised because Pastor Samuel, he is you know, a Pastor and he gets to know things.
“Moses, Remember, God would not give you a task, you can’t handle, have you forgotten his word says “my grace is sufficient for you”.
“I know sir, but I cannot eloquent and this position my shift my gaze from Jesus, E ru ba a mi sir(I am scared sir)”, Moses sighed.
“Moses, don’t be scared, the reason God made you the Youth President is not because of the youth in this University but something else, I feel evangelical work but that is a discussion for another day, just trust God to help you”, Pastor Samuel said.
“I trust God to help me”, Moses finally decided to take the bull by the horns.
“Let me pray with you”, Moses knelt while Pastor Samuel prayed laying his hands on Moses.
Episode 3
©️ Shedrach Baba“Papa, Good morning”,
“Good morning” Moses replied not knowing the person, this was the tenth person that greeted him school that he didn’t recognize but he was apparently well known.
Kingsley, Olubo and Ugo were seated in the relaxation center, discussing about the coming SUG election, their preferred candidates till Olubo sighted Moses.
“Guys, look at our President”
“Your President, not ours”, Ugo also saw him.
“Guys, let go catch up, I have a plan”, Kingsley grinned.
“Papa”
“Papa”
Papa, Good afternoon o”
“Good morning Bro Ugo, Bro Olubo and Bro Kingsley”, Moses responded.
“Are you busy right now?”, Olubo asked.
“No, I am free, I don’t have any lectures slated for today”.
“Good, a lot of student are around, we felt we can use this opportunity to do the lord’s work, so I saw you and wanted you to join us” Olubo said righteously while Ugo and Kingsley were trying to bottle their laughter.
“Sure, I will join, Not evangelism again”, Moses screamed in his mind.
“Why did I come to school today, why am I even bothered, it is not like I am going to say a word”, Moses hoped not knowing his expectation will be cut short.”
“Hello sisters, can we have a moment, please, I promise we won’t take much of your time, we just want to share some things with you,” Kingsley stopped six ladies, who listened to him.
“Alright, the Youth president of Vista Church have something paramount to tell you, Papa Sir,” Kingsley managed to rope in Moses.
“Enipe!{What did you say}”, Moses subconsciously blurted out, Fortunately, no one heard him.
“Iru wahala ro niyin bayi {What sort of problem is this}, What will I say,” Moses was thinking of what to say.
Moses had a problem which he believed was common to most people , his mouth move faster than his brain could process things,
“What, I, I,” Moses stuttered.
“I just want to tell you, that you will die”
“God Forbid!, kinni ni epe {What is the reason for the curse”},” the ladies glared at Moses.
“No, that is not what I mean,” Moses was sweating profusely.
“I mean you will die when you live, and live when you die, but death without JESUS is living a death that you will die,”
The ladies were confused, Kingsley and his friends were also confused.
“What I am saying?!,”Moses shut up, conclude”, Moses mind was now a mess
“Just so you know, we live when we die with Jesus, I pray God help you, thank you for giving us your time,” Moses concluded.
The ladies departed.
“Papa, we would love to continue but we still have lectures,” Olubo feigned checking his wristwatch.
“Alright,” Moses was elated to hear the news, at least that would put a stop to the evangelism.
Kingsley and his cohorts left to an empty lecture room.
Olubo and Ugo could no longer control their laughter.
“Bobo yi edaju o {Guy, you are wicked o},” Kingsley was referring to Olubo.
“Don’t give our papa hypertension o,” Ugo Chuckled.
“Living a death that you will die, pure nonsense”
“I,I,I,”Olubo imitated and there was another round of laughter.
~~~
“God, I have been praying for this particular problem for almost a year now and there has been no changes, anytime I go for evangelism I always blurt out nonsense,” Moses groaned praying.
After praying, Moses decided to meditate on a scripture, that struck a chord in his heart when read it five months back,
“is not my word like as a fire?, saith the Lord, and like a hammer that breaketh rock in pieces?”.
“Moses even though you stutter, say confusing words during evangelism, they become like hammer that pounds heart,” He started declaring.
Meanwhile, couple of weeks later, the Ladies Moses talked too kept hearing his words ringing aloud in their head, coincidentally, they all lived together in the same flat with three rooms.
“Living a death that you will die, you have been collecting money, expensive gifts from different guys, you are like an Agric fowl that is been fed but will be killed in December,”
“I can’t bear this anymore o,” One of the ladies shouted.
“Jesus I am sinking, mercy,” show me mercy, another sobbed.
“I don’t want to be an Agric fowl,”
“ Jesus alanu (Jesus show mercy)”
We all have a choice, we can choose to listen to the voice of God in our heart wanting us to repent or we can choose to ignore but we can only choose one.
Two of the ladies who hardened their heart, looked at the rest with disdain and left.‘‘I don’t know what is wrong with, Busola and the rest, they are behaving like chickens”
‘‘Leave them be, this is going to be my last escapade, I cannot continue,”
‘‘Even you Joke, I am surprised, well,
Fortunately, you decided to follow me, when we collect our pay, you are going to be settled for life,” Salewa Encouraged.Joke was having this uneasiness.
“Joke calm down, this is the last time”, Salewa reaffirmed.
“Please call Drex tell him we are waiting,” Joke said.
“On it,” Salewa replied.
Little did they know their time on earth is about to run out, also Moses didn’t know his words had saved about four lives.

Episode 4
©️ Shedrach BabaIt was a Sunday again, Moses and Joshua went to get some refreshments.
“Papa, let us hurry”
“No rush, it is currently testimony time and the time allocated is usually long, let’s stall so we can reach when they are done or almost done with testimony”, Moses said.
“Papa, I will tell Pastor”, Joshua joked.
Immediately, after the testimony session ended, Moses and Joshua entered the Church.
But unknown to Moses, that particular day in school when he preached to some ladies after been setup by Kingsley and his friends, Four of the ladies he preached came out to testify, apparently Joke and Salewa were murdered but the perpetrators were found.
If he was in the church during the testimony session, he could have recognize them and that would have been a boost to his faith, alas!.
Pastor Samuel mounted the pulpit.
“The Lord want us to go to a remote village to preach the gospel”
“Glory”
“Hallelujah”
The congregation shouted.
“For this assignment, God specifically chose the youths and I am going to be calling the names of those chosen”
“Bro Moses, Bro Joshua, Bro Kingsley, Sis Favour, Bro Ugo, Sis Ruth, and Bro Olubo”, Pastor Samuel called the selected youths.
After the service ended, Moses rushed to the Pastor Office which has no door and found him praying.
The reason the Pastor Office had no door was because the predecessor of Pastor Samuel, counseled a lady whom started undressing in front him and for that particular reason, he removed the door to avoid stories that touches the heart.
Moses found Pastor Samuel praying.
“Good afternoon Pastor”, he wanted to interrupt but when he saw the hand signal from Pastor Samuel he waited.
“Good afternoon Moses”
“I cannot do it sir”, Moses went straight to the point.
“Moses, you can do it, I believe in you”, Pastor Samuel smiled.
“How sir, I cannot leave school sir,”, Moses found a perfect excuse, the primary reason he came to Ondo was because of his academics.
“Do not worry, God knows how he will do it, before today ends, he will give you a sign”, Pastor Samuel reassured.
Moses then headed home with Joshua, Ruth and Favour, they lived in the same area.
“Papa, we would be going to Dotumu village soon”, Ruth said clearly excited for she always wanted to go to villages to preach the gospel, It was her Passion.
“I don’t know, why you are this joyful, what are we going to do there?”, Moses asked.
“To share Jesus”, Ruth replied.
“Papa, don’t be scared, I know why you don’t want to go there”, Joshua teased.
Moses, due to the stories he has heard, and movies he has watched, developed this phobia of going to the village, he didn’t want to be turned to a yam or a watermelon.
“You people are making me feel carnal, what about school?”, Moses asked.
“Have you not heard?”
Joshua replied without another question.
“Heard about?”, Moses was left wondering.
“Asuu has embarked on an indefinite strike”, Favour answered.
“Strike?, How come?!”
“The FG couldn’t meet up with their demands, so they announced today, they are going on strike”, Ruth added.
“Do not worry, God knows how he will do it, before today ends, he will give you a sign”, Moses remembered Pastor Samuel words.
“I guess this is the sign”, Moses thought
“This is where we say our goodbyes”
They all separated at a junction and headed to their various hostels.
The coming weeks was bound to be interesting.

Episode 5
©️ Shedrach BabaThe following week,
Moses and the Youth Executives set out for Dotumu village.
On getting to the village, they felt the change in atmosphere,
“I feel suffocated”, Moses loosened his tie.
“This place is absolutely terrifying!”, Favour added.
“I think we should go back, let me call Pastor ”, Moses brought his phone and tried reaching the Pastor.
“Our on earth was this coward made our leader!”,
“He clearly has no experience!”
“This life no balance”(This life isn’t fair)
Kingsley, Olubo and Ugo thought simultaneously.
“Moses, Please calm down, I believe God will see us through”, Ruth reassured Moses.
“Thank you”
They walked to the house assigned to the them and when they were unpacking, they discovered their money grew wings and flew away.
“Iru wahala le leyi bayi”(what sort of problem is this!), Moses grumbled internally.
“Just great our money is missing, how are going to survive?”, Kingsley complained.
“Do you mean to tell me the two hundred thousand naira given to us by the Church just disappeared into air?!”, Joshua asked clearly frustrated.
“Our else do you explain it, we agreed on keeping the money inside this bag and now…
Ruth opened the bag and all they could see inside the bag was paper.
“Are you sure the Church didn’t make a mistake?,”
“Yes, maybe they gave us the bag meant for drama department, you never can tell, mistakes do happen”, Olubo added because back in church the drama department used paper cut in the shape of money for their ministration, so he had a point.
“We all clearly saw the money Ugo, we all guarded the bag”, Favour was absolutely sure the money disappeared in the village.
“Guys, I have just Four thousand naira in my account, at least that will suffice for now,” Moses showed his account balance.
Days past, the youths were trying to manage the Foodstuffs so it can last longer, and they could envision days of Marathon fasting ahead.
Also, the villagers were the most unfriendly set of people they’ve ever encountered, they avoided the youths like plagues except in the market place where they got stuffs from.
“why did we agree to coming to this place”, Olubo complained to his friends.
“I should have gone home”, Ugo sighed.
What the trio thought was going to be a walk in the park, turned out to be an herculean task.
“Now food is barely enough, I cannot bear this any more”, Just on cue, Kingsley stomach grumbled.
“Let call Pastor”, Ugo suggested.
“Which Pastor?, the Pastor that sent us here!”, Olubo sneered.
“Not that old man, I am talking about Pastor Segun”, Ugo replied.
“You are right, due to the underlying issue between them, Pastor Segun will want to again oppose his decision”
“Hmm, Smart”, Olubo gave a thumbs up.
“When should we call him”, Kingsley asked.
“Now”, Olubo dialed his number.
Pastor Segun is a Pastor under Pastor Samuel, who was very submissive but it all changed when he started listening to gossips by some people in the Church which poisoned his heart and he changed entirely.
So Pastor Segun started developing his own faction, which of course, Olubo, Ugo and Kingsley were part of.
~~~
“I don’t know what has gotten to Kingsley, Ugo and Olubo, they have somehow changed”, Favour said as they were on their way to the stream to fetch water.
“I also noticed, they don’t want to help out at all” Ruth complained.
“Maybe it is the change in atmosphere, how was the evangelism yesterday?”, Moses changed the topic.
“Glory to Jesus, but Papa, this people heart are strong, they don’t want to even hear us out”, Joshua replied.
“I also noticed they are no Christians only idol worshippers”, Ruth shared her observation.
“Papa, why didn’t you follow us?”, Favour asked.
Everyone except Moses went for evangelism.
“I was, I was….
“I understand, but tomorrow we are going again, make sure to follow us”, Ruth said knowing fully well why Moses didn’t follow them.
They fetched the water and left the stream.
A week later, Pastor Segun arrived in Dotumu village.
“Good afternoon, Pastor Segun, what a pleasant surprise, Moses was visible happy in seeing Pastor Segun and of course, the Foodstuffs he brought.
“Good afternoon Moses, can you please help me take this to the house?”
“Sure”
Moses carried the yams while the others also joined him.
“I was sent to the village by the Church and Moses, you must be a man”, Pastor Segun sighed.
Moses had a bad premonition.
Episode 6
©️ Shedrach BabaA week later, Pastor Segun arrived in Dotumu village.
“Good afternoon, Pastor Segun, what a pleasant surprise, Moses was visible happy in seeing Pastor Segun and of course, the Foodstuffs he brought.
“Good afternoon Moses, can you please help me take this to the house?”
“Sure”
Moses carried the yams while the others also joined him.
“I was sent to the village by the Church and Moses, you must be a man”, Pastor Segun sighed.
Moses had a bad premonition.
“Your mother died two days ago”, Pastor Segun dropped the bombshell.
“What did you just say?!”, Moses couldn’t believe his ears.
“You have to be a man, She died of cancer, Pastor Segun sighed.
“Cancer, how?, my mother!”,
The floodgates were now open as Moses bursted into tears but one thing was puzzling to him, he was just finding out his mother had cancer, She never for once told him.
Was She trying not to bother Moses?, he couldn’t ever find the answer to the question, since she is now dead.
“God is in control”, Joshua sobbed.
“Stop crying, you are behaving like a baby, crying because of what”, Kingsley tried to console him.
Ruth and Favour glared at him.
“His mother just died have some sympathy”, Favour said clearly not pleased by his statement.
She noticed the nonchalant attitude of Ugo and co.
“Was their heart made of stone?”, Favour thought.
~~~
In the room assigned to Ugo, Kingsley and Olubo they were having a discussion.
“Moses Mother died just like that, it is well o”, Olubo could feel his pain.
“I know it serves him right, I mean…
“Can you for once hear yourself talk?”, Olubo interrupted Kingsley.
“His mother died!, what do you mean serve him right?, this is going to far, we are supposed to be Christians for Christ sake!”, Olubo said his mind.
“Why are you blowing a fuse?, Kingsley is correct, it serves him right, Ever since he was made the President, he became Proud, now, his wings has been clipped, Ugo chipped in.
“I cannot believe you guys, I need to take a walk to clear my head, Olubo left the room.
“What is wrong with Olubo today?”
“Beats me, maybe he has grown a conscience,” Kingsley laughed.
Ugo joined in the laughter.
Olubo could feel Moses pain because his mother also died of cancer when he was young, even though his father spent all is life saving on her.
His father not only lost his wife, but also his wealth, he didn’t take the loss that well and he was also duped.
Olubo and his Father managed to pass that phase due to the grace of God, his father even recovered all that he had lost.
Olubo began to change when he entered the university, he craved for freedom, and university gave that for he was now away from his Father prying eyes.
But he grew worse when he began to hang out with Kingsley and Ugo, he was surprised to see christians who drink, christians who were not boring according to him but he didn’t know he was gradually sinking.
