Diary of a single mother episode 13

Diary of a single mother 13

Frank’s mother still kept on maltreating me. She was bent on making my life a living hell.

She can’t see me seated without hurling insults at me.

Whenever she’s at home, I always make sure I’m busy with something to avoid her chastisement.

One morning, I woke up with pain allover my body. I couldn’t stand up. My legs were swollen. I just laid on my bed with my eyes opened.

“What’s that lazy girl still doing in her room? Does she think she employed a slave who will be doing everything for her”. Frank’s mom fumed as she approached my room.

She barged into my room with annoyance. She saw me on my bed and got even more angry.

“I can see you have gone completely mad. You are here lazing around knowing fully well there’s no water and the pumping machine is bad. I should be the one to fetch water for you right?”. She shouted.

“But ma I am…”.

“Shut up my friend and go and fetch water. Let me come back and still meet you there. You think you are the first to ever get pregnant. Lazy thing “. She said and walked out of my room.

I don’t even know where I managed to gather strength from. I managed and stood up from my bed.

I Carried a 25litres keg and made my way to the other compound to get water.

When I was coming back to the house with the gallon of water on my head, I started feeling dizzy. I was determined to Carry the water home, so I shrugged it off.

I was already in my compound when my leg mistakenly hit a stone.

Thank God for the man that was walking behind me. I don’t know what would have happened to myself and my children.

“I knew you would fall with the way you were walking. Ma please stop stressing yourself in this your condition”. The man said.

I couldn’t stop thanking him.

He helped me to carry the water to my doorstep.

I managed to carry the water to the kitchen and went back to my room because my whole body began to ache.

I made up my mind I wouldn’t over work myself to please anybody anymore.
