Campus Fellowship episode 13

CAMPUS FELLOWSHIP ON FIRE
CHAPTER 13
(Corrupt Communication)

“Sister Modupe, you’re just coming back?” Sister Comfort saw her Gen. Sec enter the hostel.

Sister Modupe, the (Gen Sec), had informed her hostel mates, Lara and Comfort, that she would be travelling down to Lagos for the weekend to attend a wedding.
It was in her absence all the commotion happened.

“Ah, yessoo, my Sister. I got you and Lara bread from Oyo sef, let me settle down first.”
On hearing food, Sister Comfort leaped in excitement as she ran to call Lara her bestie.

As Lara arrived, she enveloped Sister Modupe in a tight hug.
“We missed you ma. How is everyone at home?”

“Fine fine oo.” Sister Modupe dropped her heavy travelling bag. She knew when Lara started talking, it could probably take an angel from heaven to shut her mouth.
“Ahh, Gen sec ma, you have missed a lot o. Let me update you!”

“Really, what could have happened between Friday and Sunday?”
“Ma, alot has happened, oh. As we speak now, Bro Kenneth is in coma!”

“Jesus!” Sister Modupe exclaimed.
“Ah, e shock you abi? And that’s not all ma.” Sister Lara added.

“So there’s more?” Sister Modupe said, open mouthed.
“Yesso! The person that kept Bro Kenneth in this comatose state is Scholar Sege oo.”
“Yeeeh, that gentle brother?!” Sister Modupe was surprised.

“Gentle for where? He’s not gentle kankan. Rumor has it that he has anger issues, and this is not his first case of attempted murder.” Sister Lara sneered.
“Do you now know the root cause of the matter, ma?” Lara said.

“No Sis, please tell me!” Sister Modupe urged. Her ears itched for more.
“Hmm, I heard that the beauty queen of our fellowship, Sister Linda, is the cause of all these.”

“You don’t mean it! Kai. I knew this sister was a walking disaster and nothing but trouble ever since she stepped foot in the fellowship. Yesso, she has a bad head.” Sister Modupe nodded her head as though she just solved a hard puzzle.

“Really?!” Sister Lara and Sister Comfort said in unison.
“You see ehn, that Sister Linda is a very STUPID and UNFORTUNATE human being!” Sister Modupe emphasized the “stupid”.

“Ha, Gen Sec ma!” Sister Lara exclaimed
“Yes now. Let me say the truth. She’s just like a chameleon, disguising her way into the hearts of our innocent brothers. A devil incanate.” The Gen Sec spat. “Don’t you see the slutty outfits she wears to church?

They were both shocked to see an Exco outburst in that manner, but they weren’t surprised. Countless of times, they’ve witnessed Sister Modupe insult and rain abuses on her fellow roommates. She knew all the deep insults in Yoruba language and used them without stress. When she starts her commotion, one would doubt she really gave her life to Christ.

But deep down, Sister Module was just envious and desperate for attention Lara’s mouth was agape and Comfort just stared wide eyed, reserving her comment. She held no grudges against Sister Linda, especially after eating her Shawarma.

“I couldn’t have agreed more ma! That Sister and her demonic attire is questionable.” Sister Lara added more fuel to the fire.

“Don’t mind her. We know their type. Cardi B with a touch of CeCe Winans. We know them!” Gen Sec charged..

“See ehnn, lemme go and freshen up. Enjoy the bread ehn. I trust President Gbile to settle this matter.” At that, Sister Modupe picked up her travelling bag and sped off to her room.

“Haba! Lara, you can whyne fire sha.” laughed Comfort, finally finding her voice.
“Whyne as how? Me that I’m gentle.” said Lara, feigning annoyance but later joining in the laughter.
“Yes, indeed. As gentle as a Lion! Gentle kor, kettle ni.” Sister Comfort eyed and Lara left for her room with the bread.

“Don’t start consuming that bread o.” Sister Comfort called after her.
“I don hear jare. You too like food.”
~×~
Days after, President Gbile called for meeting of all members of the
Executive to settle the matter of Scholar Segun and Bro Kenneth.

The image of the fellowship had been tarnished. The number of it’s members dwindled in size every service and many of those who showed up attended to charge phones, get gist and latest update. Many others came to see the beautiful sister that put two brothers to war.

They were twelve in number. Seated from right was the Vice President, Ushering cord(Bro Tayo), the Music director, the General Secretary(Sister Modupe), the Visitation Cord(Sister Eunice), the Evangelism cord(Bro Fola), the Prayer Cord(Bro Moses), the Sisters Cord(Sister Lizzy), the Brothers Cord, the Drama Cord(Bro Rotimi) and the Financial Secretary.

“Brethren, I need an honest answer. What is going on?!” President Gbile started.
Many didn’t know what to say. The Evangelism cord, Bro Fola kept casting hateful glaces at Bro Moses the Prayer Cord. The Visitation Cord kept on checking her wristwatch as there was a place she needed to be urgently.

The Gen Sec of the fellowship, Sister Modupe was conjuring ways she could outshine her competition, even if she had to use all the accessories in the world. “Anything to make me more attractive than that show off Linda!” Even while seated in the Exco meeting, she was hatching plans in her head.

The Sisters Cord spoke up. “Oga, the church has fallen. The Revival is Gone. The foundation is faulty sir!”
This caught everyone’s attention as they cast bewildered glances at Sister Lizzy.
