A LOVE TRIANGLE
Episode 4b

Annabel woke up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. She had almost forgotten about the encounter with Kamzy the night before, but as she got dressed and headed to breakfast, she couldn’t shake off the feeling that their paths would cross again.

And then, as she was pouring herself a bowl of cereal, she saw him – Kamzy, sitting at a table by the window, sipping on a cup of coffee.

Annabel felt her heart skip a beat as their eyes met. She quickly looked away, trying to play it cool, but she could sense Kamzy’s gaze on her.

Sophia noticed her friend’s distraction and followed her gaze. “Oh, it’s Kamzy,” she whispered. “I told you he’s not so bad.”

Annabel playfully rolled her eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s just focus on breakfast.”

But as they ate, Annabel couldn’t help sneaking glances at Kamzy. He seemed lost in thought, staring out the window with a expression that looked almost… melancholic.

Annabel wondered what could be bothering him. Was it something to do with the K3? Or was it something more personal?

As they finished up and left the cafeteria, Annabel felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see Kamzy standing behind her, a small smile on his face.

“Hey,” he said. “Can I talk to you for a minute?”

Annabel hesitated, unsure of what to say. But Sophia encouraged her to go, saying she’d meet up with her later.

So Annabel followed Kamzy to a quiet corner of the hallway, wondering what he wanted to say.

“Hey, I wanted to talk to you about last night,” Kamzy said, his eyes locked on hers.

Annabel felt a flush rise to her cheeks. “Oh, yeah. I’m really sorry about that. I was just startled.”

Kamzy waved his hand dismissively. “No need to apologize. I just wanted to make sure you’re okay. You ran off pretty quickly.”

Annabel shrugged, feeling a little embarrassed. “Yeah, I guess I did. I just wasn’t expecting…any of that.”

Kamzy nodded thoughtfully. “I know. Me neither. But I’m glad we met, Annabel. You’re…different.”

Annabel raised an eyebrow, unsure what to make of that statement. “Different?”

Kamzy smiled. “Yeah. Most people at this school are so caught up in their own drama. But you…you seem like you’re above all that.”

Annabel laughed, feeling a little self-conscious. “I don’t know about that. I’m just trying to survive.”

Kamzy’s expression turned serious. “I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel like I’m just going through the motions too.”

Annabel was surprised by his honesty. She hadn’t expected Kamzy to be so…vulnerable.

“Hey, we should grab coffee sometime and talk more about it,” Kamzy said, breaking the silence.

Annabel hesitated, unsure if she was ready to spend more time with Kamzy. But there was something about him that made her want to say yes.

As Annabel and Kamzy stood talking, the Queens walked by, their leader, Titi, flashing a condescending smile. But when she saw Kamzy, her expression changed to one of affection. She rushed over to him, throwing her arms around his neck.

“Kamzy, darling!” she cooed.

But when she saw Annabel standing next to him, her face fell. “What are you doing with this…lowlife?” she spat, her eyes flashing with disdain.

Annabel felt a surge of fear as Titi’s gaze locked onto hers. She looked down, trying to avoid confrontation.

Kamzy shrugged, his expression nonchalant. “Just talking, Titi. Why don’t you and your friends leave us alone?”

Titi’s face turned red with rage. “How can you ask me to leave because of this…this…nobody?” she spluttered.

She took a step closer to Annabel, her hand raised to slap her. But before she could make contact, Kamzy caught her wrist, his grip firm.

“Don’t even think about it, Titi,” he warned, his voice low and menacing.

Titi’s eyes widened in shock as Kamzy held her hand, his eyes flashing with anger.

Annabel couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Kamzy, the leader of the K3, was standing up for her?

Kamzy helped Annabel up, his hand still holding hers. “Let’s get out of here,” he said, his voice soft.

As they walked away, Annabel could feel the weight of the students’ stares. They were all murmuring, taking pictures, and pointing.

“How can her own boyfriend do that to her?” someone whispered.

“Are they still together?” another student asked.

Titi’s face was red with rage as she watched Kamzy walk away with Annabel. “This isn’t over,” she spat, her eyes flashing with anger.

The Queens turned and stormed off, their heads held high. The students dispersed, still murmuring and glancing back at Annabel and Kamzy.

As they walked out of the hallway, Annabel felt a sense of shock wash over her. She couldn’t believe what had just happened.

Why had Kamzy stood up for her?

As they walked out of the hallway, Kamzy finally let go of Annabel’s hand. She felt a pang of disappointment, but quickly pushed it aside.

“Thanks for standing up for me back there,” Annabel said, trying to sound casual.

Kamzy shrugged. “No problem. I don’t like seeing people get bullied.”

Annabel nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him. “I appreciate it.”

They walked in silence for a moment, the only sound being the echo of their footsteps in the empty hallway.

“So, what’s going on with you and Titi?” Annabel asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

Kamzy sighed. “We’re…complicated. We’ve been together for a long time, but it’s not working out. She’s too controlling, and I need space.”

Annabel nodded thoughtfully. “I can see that.”

Kamzy looked at her, his eyes searching. “You’re different, Annabel. You’re not like the other girls here.”

Annabel felt a flutter in her chest. “What do you mean?”

Kamzy smiled. “You’re real. You’re not fake or pretentious. You’re just…you.”

Annabel felt a blush rise to her cheeks. No one had ever said anything like that to her before.

As they approached the school entrance, Kamzy turned to her. “Want to grab lunch together? I know a great place nearby.”

Annabel hesitated for a moment, unsure if she should spend more time with Kamzy. But something about him drew her in.

“Okay,” she said finally, smiling.

Kamzy grinned, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Great. I’ll pick you up at 12:30.”

And with that, he walked out of the school, leaving Annabel feeling both excited and nervous.

To be continued……
