The House Wife
Episode 8
“Pack all her clothes and load everything in the bus. Don’t leave anything behind. I don’t want her to come back as she is going to see her father. I’m following her closely behind.” Ali said to the bus driver helping him to move Kassandra’s things out of the main building. He has decided that the moment had come for Kassandra to leave his house so that he would finally marry Nancy who is making him happy in the bedroom. His patience has boiled over and so he paid for a bus to help him return Kassandra’s property to her parent’s house.
“It’s over between me and Kassandra. Please, be fast and bring everything out let’s go. I don’t want her to come back and meet us her.” Ali said with anger in his voice as the bus driver brought out the last bag and put it in the bus. The 18-seater bus was filled with everything belonging to Kassandra. The driver had to remove the seats of the bus and hang on the roof so that it could accommodate everything.
Soon, Ali started his car and drove out of the compound and the bus driver followed him closely with the bus filled with Kassandra’s property. The drive to Kassandra’s home town is a one hour journey, but Ali and the bus driver arrived there within 30 minutes because they drove at top speed.
Soon, Ali drove into the compound where Kassandra was born and brought up. She was brought up by her father, Mr Ogo because her mother, Ogolu had died when she was eight years old. Her father had refused to remarry and he raised Kassandra as his only child.
Ali parked his car and also showed the bus driver where to park. Kassandra’s car was also in the compound and she was inside talking to her father. Ali was so happy that at last, he was getting rid of Kassandra who has been a pain in his bom bom since he married her.
“Please, give me a few minutes let me call her father to come out and take his daughter’s property. His daughter is already here. Just for me to hand her over to him properly and we will be on our way back.” Ali said and entered the only building in the compound.
The building is a small bungalow with large veranda and it was painted yellow. Kassandra’s father built the house when he was still working as a civil servant. The house now looks old and the zinc is probably leaking judging from how rusty it looked.
When Ali got into the building, he started hearing Kassandra’s voice. She was sounding as if she was quarrelling with her father. Ali decided not to announce his presence but to eavesdrop and know what father and daughter were quarrelling about. The argument between Kassandra and her father became more intense and even degenerating into a shouting match.
“I told you not to get married to any other man, but you didn’t listen to me. I told you that you belong to me until you die. Why do you think I have not remarried since the death of your mother? I stayed single because of you. How can I have a beautiful daughter and still be looking outside for another woman?” Mr Ogo asked Kassandra his daughter.
“You have not answered my question. Is it true that I will die if I sleep with any other man other than you? Answer me because I’m not leaving this compound until you tell me the truth.” Kassandra shouted at her father.
“Yes it is true! And I’m still saying it that you belong to me. You are a replacement of your mother and your body belongs to me your father and not to any other man. This is what I taught you as a child. Have you forgotten? You made a huge mistake by leaving me alone in this big compound and going to live with another man. Kassandra my dear, it is high time you returned home where your heart truly belongs.” Mr Ogo tells Kassandra. She started weeping profusely. She was in serious distress as the memories of everything her father did to her from childhood returned to her. Her brain was bursting and her heart was p******g ‘kabum kabum’ like the sound of gunshots fired at the battle front. She could even hear the sound of her heartbeat.
Ali was outside the room listening to everything Kassandra and her father were saying. He was terribly shocked such that he even pinched himself in the ear to be sure he was physically present and not dreaming. But he was also happy that he is finally finding out why his wife has always being scared of making love to him. He decided to hear the entire story.
“You are a lier! I will not die if I make love to another man other than you. I have had enough of your treachery and deceit. You started abusing me at the age of eight and you started telling me that I would die if I ever leave you or tell anyone about it. All those things were lies you used to keep me under your roof to prevent me from getting married. Let me tell you, I’m going home this moment and I’m going to make love with my husband and nothing will happen to me. You are a cursed wild animal.” Kassandra said to her father. She was crying so much that her voiced became cracked. She was going through a lot of sorrow.
“Stop crying my darling girl. I have waited for you to come back to me all these while. I knew you will not cope with another man. I brought you up to be mine and only mine. I’m always here for you. Do not ruin this moment of reunion for us.” Mr Ogo said as he went closer to Kassandra with the aim of touching her, but she slapped him.
“In your entire life, don’t you ever touch me again. I suffered abuse and molestation in your hand for 21 years of my life. You destroyed my life from the age of eight. You never allowed me sleep with any other man or to even have boyfriends early in life. I had to get married by force but the wrong things you taught me refused to leave my head. You made me believe wrong ideas about men.” She paused for a while, coughed violently and then continued.
“You told me that men are evil and that you are the only good man on earth. You told me that it is a normal thing for daughters to sleep with their father. But I have now realized that you are cursed. From today onward, I’m breaking free from you and your evil lifestyle. You are no longer my father and I’m not your daughter. Every evil that I picked from you, I drop and break free from them from today. I hereby curse you. For all that you did to me, for ruining my life, for making me to be scared of men, you shall live in this house alone and die a miserable death. No one shall know your grave.” Kassandra said.
Ali quickly left the house and went into the main compound and beckoned at the bus driver. Soon, they drove off without dropping the property as initially planned. His heart was filled with emotions.
From that moment, Ali now got a clearer understanding of what happened to Kassandra. Her father thought her wrong things about life and men. Her heart was turned against men right from the tender age of eight. As a child that she was, she believed everything her father told her and they became part of her belief system even after growing up. Kassandra is an emotional wreck. And needs help instead of divorce.
“But she never told me all these things. She never told me that her father abused her for 21 years. No wonder she refused to sleep with me even when we were dating. It was not about church, she just used that as a cover up.” Ali said in his heart as he was driving home. He and the bus driver got home before Kassandra and rearranged her things for her.
Some minutes later, Kassandra drove into the compound when Ali was resting in the living room. She came in with a lot of speed. She rushed and removed her clothes and then pushed Ali to the floor. She was so strong that even if Ali wanted to stop her from making love to him, he wouldn’t have been able to do that. For the first time since they started dating, and for the first time since they got married, they made passionate love.
“I followed you to your father’s house and I heard everything you discussed with him.” Ali said when they finished making love. Kassandra was relaxing on his chest. He stood up and put on his clothes and then went into his room and brought down a briefcase containing his licensed gun. He put it in his pocket and then returned to the living room.
“Why didn’t you tell me your father abused you? For 21 terrible years? You never said a word about it?” Ali asked.
“I was scared because he made me believe I would die if I ever mentioned it to anyone. I was a child, I was only eight when it started and I believed him even after I grew up.” Kassandra said with tears in her eyes. But she seemed very happy and liberated now that she made love to Ali.
“I’m going to make him pay. I will teach him a lesson and in his next world, he will never abuse a child.” Ali said. He left the compound and started driving to Kassandra’s family house to personally see her father.
There are 12 bullets in Ali’s gun and all hell will be let loose when he meets Kassandra’s father.
Watch out for episode 9 (The last fight).
