SISTER ADURAGBEMI
Part 11

How negative thoughts crept into Adura’s heart was something difficult to fathom.
Such a strong lady before who never gave room for self-pity.
But, why those negative thoughts?
She was weak! Her strengths were failing her. She shifted her gaze from the abilities she had to her problem (disability).
Her fears dominated her life.
Her fears dismissed her true identity in Christ. It silenced the tiny voice whispering hope into her ears.
“Will I ever make it in life, even as an undergraduate? Will I ever amount to something in life? Will any man ever walk the aisle with me?
Will I ever birth children? Will I ever be relevant in my generation?” she asked, shouting so loud as if someone was beside her. Yes, no one was beside her but she believed her maker was right there with her.
She kept on shouting, expressing her fears like a mad woman.
Immediately she realized she wasn’t making much sense (talking to no one present) she broke down in tears.
These had been her fears, nurtured for a very long time. She was ready to birth those fears.
When those fears fully took over her mind, she made up her mind to reject the admission given to her.
Her mum was mad at her when she heard about the decision she was about to take.
“My dear, I won’t say much. But I want you to know that you have a God. He made you just like this. He permitted you to come into this world for a reason. You were made FOR HIS GLORY.
Well, since you said you are not going into the university, I suggest you consult your creator about it so that it won’t look as if you are taking a decision without your creator.” Her mum said as she walked away.
Adura was lost in thought. She felt being an undergraduate wasn’t something possible for someone like her.
After many battles in her heart, she decided to take the matter to God in prayer.
She poured out herself to God. She emptied her heavy fears at the bottom of the cross of Jesus, while waiting patiently for the response of her maker.
How God speaks to her wasn’t something complex for her. She didn’t need a prophet before God could speak to her.
The way God speaks to her was through her dream.
After dropping her burdens at the foot of the cross, she felt light! A heavy wind of sleep swept her away. She didn’t know when she found herself on her bed, with her body wrapped inside a duvet.
Few minutes, she began to fly into the realm of her dream.
Yes, she began to dream.
“My daughter, I have formed you specially for my glory. My glory will be manifested in your life in that school you want to reject.
Pick yourself up. You have millions of lives to touch. Stop that self-pity because you’re just too perfect for the great task ahead of you.
In your so-called disability lies abilities that shall be greater than those who have legs to walks. You will do tasks that people with legs cannot do.
Your life will draw millions of people to me. Just watch out! Accept that admission and remember that whatever the situation may be, I will always be right there with you. I will always be the shoulder you can lean and cry on.
I will never leave you alone because you are my daughter, sent on a mission. Mission of drawing millions of lives to me through what I am going to do in your life.” A man dressed in white said as he smiled, showing his white teeth.
” Jesuuuusss!!!! I am nothing without you. Thank God I consulted you. I am so glad I am a vessel in your hand. I am so glad you have good thoughts and plans for my life.” Adura said as her dream replayed in her heart.
“Thank God I asked Him before taking steps. I have always learnt from my mum, to always consult God in whatever situation or decision I want to take, because God knows even the end of a person right from the beginning.
Who knows maybe I would have missed the plan of God for my life if I had taken a bad decision without asking from God?” She asked no one in particular as she lazily dragged herself out of the bed.
She went to the kitchen where her mum was busy preparing amala and egusi soup. The aroma of the egusi soup almost caused Adura’s stomach to faint. She just couldn’t wait to have a taste of the soup that had possessed the whole house with it’s powerful taste.
“Has God spoken to you? So, are you still rejecting the admission?” Her mum asked, stirring the soup, pouring out just a little portion of the soup on her palm in order to use her mouth to critically analyze if the salt, seasoning… were in the right proportion.
Adura broke the news to her mum. Her mum was filled with joy.
“I knew it! I just don’t want you to limit yourself with the so-called disability you have. You can do what others are doing. You can break limits. You can go higher! You can make it. You can be a legend by doing what seems to be impossible to do. You are capable my daughter.” Her mother said as she picked a meat from the pot of egusi and dropped it into Adura’s mouth.
” Yes mum, I believe I can succeed against all odds.” she said as she was devouring the meat. She couldn’t resist the urge to commend her mum for the food well prepared.

Sade returned from the cafe. She knowingly accepted her sister’s admission on her behalf.
By the time she revealed what she had done to her sister, she expected a dirty slap to land on her face. Well, she was already prepared for that.
She couldn’t hide the shock she received. Her sister didn’t slap her. Rather, she smiled with her mouth forming “thank you”.
Sade couldn’t still imagine she saw something real. She rushed down to her mum to report Adura.
To her greatest surprise, her mum was already informed. It made her more confused when her mother said that everything was under control.
When she finally got to know that her sister had am encounter with God, she rushed down to the living room (where her sister was peacefully feeding her eyes with information on Facebook) and hugged her.
“Congratulations, my daughters.” their father said as he stepped into the living room after many hours he spent in his place of work.
“Yes o, our daughters are undergraduates.” their mother replied as she rushed down to her husband to give him her regular ” welcome home” greeting with a hug.
Preparation for campus life began.
Was Adura able to cope with the system?
Watch out.
