MY FIRST LOVE
EPISODE 1
WRITTEN BY Rukevwe Merry
Henry was born into a wealthy family, but his childhood was marked by loneliness. His parents, successful businesspeople, were always busy, leaving him with little attention.
When Henry was six, his parents hired Alice, a kind-hearted nanny, to care for him. Alice had a two-year-old daughter, Isabella, whose father had passed away.
Every Saturday, Henry’s parents gave Alice the day off to spend with her daughter. It was the only time she had to herself, away from her duties as a nanny.
One Saturday, Alice packed her bag and left the mansion with Isabella. However, halfway to their destination, she realized she had forgotten her ATM card at the mansion.
Meanwhile, back at the Thompson’s mansion, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were preoccupied in the garden, near the swimming pool. Six-year-old Henry wandered towards the poolside, unnoticed by his parents. Mrs. Thompson was engrossed in a phone conversation with her friend Clara, while Mr. Thompson was busy signing documents.
Henry, fascinated by the glistening water, leaned over the pool’s edge, losing his balance. He tumbled forward, plunging into the deep end. The water enveloped him, and he struggled to stay afloat.
As Henry’s lungs began to burn, his panic intensified. He flailed his arms, desperate to grab onto something. The pool’s tiles seemed to blur together as he sank deeper.
The sound of Henry’s body hitting the water caught his parents’ attention. Mrs. Thompson turned around, still on her phone call, and saw her son’s struggles. Mr. Thompson looked up from his paperwork, alarm etched on his face.
But before they could react, Alice sprang into action. She had returned to retrieve her forgotten ATM card and witnessed Henry’s fall. Without hesitation, she sprinted towards the pool.
Alice didn’t think twice; she kicked off her shoes and dove into the water, her clothes weighing her down. She swam towards Henry with powerful strokes, her arms slicing through the water.
Reaching Henry, Alice turned him onto his back and began administering CPR. She compressed his chest 30 times, then gave two rescue breaths.
“Henry, come back to me!” Alice exclaimed, her voice trembling.
She repeated the CPR cycle, her hands moving swiftly. Henry’s eyes remained closed, his body limp.
Just as Alice was starting the third cycle, Henry coughed, expelling water from his lungs. His eyes flickered open, and he gasped for air.
Alice held him close, relief washing over her face. “Thank God!” she whispered.
Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Thompson rushed towards the pool, their faces etched with worry.
“Alice, oh my God!” Mrs. Thompson exclaimed, tears streaming down her face. “Thank you!”
Mr. Thompson helped Alice lift Henry out of the pool, cradling his son in his arms.
As they wrapped Henry in a towel, Alice’s heroic actions sunk in. The Thompsons’ gratitude towards her deepened.
” Alice, you’re more than just a nanny to us now,” Mr. Thompson said, his voice choked with emotion. “You’re family.”
Henry’s traumatic experience left an indelible mark. He developed aquaphobia, a fear of water that would haunt him for years to come.
