“A WIFE FOR MY HUSBAND” (Part Two)
Episode 6
Lakunle was in a state of depression; for days, he couldn’t bring himself to go to work. Mami had to come and stay with him.
His friend not having heard from him in days stopped by to check up on him. He was in shock when he learnt all that happened. “Guy, you got to forget about this Simi girl and move on with your life. It’s not the end of the world.”
“You don’t understand, I lost Adesuwa on top wetin? I was doing fine before my parent destroyed my life.”
“They thought they were helping. All the same, you have to move on. You will find your own woman.”
“I only want Adesuwa. I’m thinking of begging her to come back to me.”
“Guy, that ship has sailed o.”
“Do you know something I don’t know?”
He opened his phone and showed him a picture of Adesuwa with Imonofi Osagie. “How and where did she meet him,” Lakunle asked.
“Ani, of course, you know she mingles with the rich and influencers.”
“Imonofi is bad news, he will break her heart.”
“Well, you broke her heart first, and you are one of the good guys. This is what happens when we leave good women, they become prey to hunters like him who just see women as a plaything.”
“Adesuwa, my Adesuwa in the hand of Imonofi. No, I have to talk to her.”
“That is a bad idea.” His friend warned.
Lakunle didn’t heed his friend’s advice; he went ahead to look for Adesuwa. When he got to Ani’s place. Ani informed him that Adesuwa wasn’t around. She went on vacation.
“With that playboy, Imonofi.”
“Well, yes, and he treats her well.”
“For how long?”
“Adesuwa is a big girl she can take care of herself.”
“How can you allow her to date a guy like that? He would only hurt her,” Lakunle complained.
“Not as much as you did. Look Lakunle, go home and leave Adesuwa alone she has moved on.”
Lakunle didn’t relent, he tried again a couple of times and eventually met Adesuwa.
“What’s going on Lakunle? I heard you’ve been looking for me. By the way shouldn’t Simi have had the baby by now?”
“Yes, she had a baby girl” He answered reluctantly.
“Hmm, congrats.”
“The baby is not mine.”
“How did you arrive at that conclusion.”
“She told me, she was already pregnant before I was with her. She is a devil. Do you know that girl showed me and Mami shege? Once, when Mami came to visit, she didn’t allow her in because she claimed my mother didn’t inform her. That day Mami realised you are a good woman.”
“Woah! I didn’t know karma could be this swift.”
“I guess I deserve that. But Adesuwa, please come back to me. With all that has happened, my parents will not bother us anymore. Let’s get back together and rebuild our family, we can adopt a child.”
“I can’t do that. I can’t live past how you betrayed me. You went behind me to marry Simi. I can’t trust you ever again and I’m already seeing someone. It’s too late.”
“Imonofi will break your heart.”
“Yes maybe. But never in the way you did.”
“I’m really sorry Adesuwa. Please, tell me what I need to do to make you forgive me and come back to me, I need you more than ever.”
“I’m sorry Lakunle, it’s truly over between us. Even if things don’t work out with Imonofi, I will still not come back to you. it’s time for you to leave. I have a date with Imonofi and I need to get dressed.”
