RED FLAGS

EPISODE 19

That slap stung my cheek that I had to touch it while I tried to control my tears. I didn’t know if to retaliate back is a good idea because I didn’t see it coming and she is way older than me. I looked at the woman and said:” What have I done for you to just come into my house and slap me? Bode, what’s all this about?” I asked him.

” You don’t know what you have done abi then I will tell you again” The woman which I later came to know as Bode’s mother told me and tried to slap me again when someone held her hand from behind. I looked at the person who held her hand and it was my gateman while she struggled to let go of her hand from him, I used that opportunity to asked Bode’s father why he and his family would just come to my house to harass me since Bode decided to keep mute. The man told me that Bode said I was the one he gave the two million nairas he stole from them and I burst into laugh in front of them even though I was boiling in.

“So Bode told you he gave me two million nairas?” I asked him in a sarcastic tone and he nodded his head. Well… I guess you don’t know your son then. Fortunately, my phone was with me so I played how Bode normally stole my money before I handed him over to the police and I could see how shocked his father was. His father said they told Bode to help them withdraw the cash from the bank because it was sent to them from his nephew abroad but Bode came home and said I used charm on him and collected the money. I guess Bode defraud his parents since he didn’t see my money to steal again and I wonder when he is going to change. His father asked for my forgiveness but his mom was abusing me for keeping her son in the cell for the crime he didn’t commit and I knew Bode already told her about my bleeding. They were later lead out by my Gateman. I just shook my head in pity and went back inside because their visit was meaningless and I guess the slap was karma for me arresting Bode for the crime he didn’t commit. My mum was just coming downstairs when I came in so she asked me who are the visitor but I told her not to worry that they came to the wrong house.

My mum and I just ended our midnight prayer on the fourth day and we both went to bed. I drifted off to sleep immediately I laid my back on the bed and entered into a dream. In the dream, I was walking alone in a very dark forest that I couldn’t see where I was heading to and suddenly a bright light shone on me that it blinded me for some minutes and suddenly everywhere became bright and I was able to see where I was going. I woke up immediately after that even though I didn’t understand the dream so waved it off and I went to the restroom to urinate then changed my diaper because the one I was wearing was soaked with my blood.

I woke up the next day with my mom as we both held our hands and prayed. I told my mum I would be going to my office to see how the sales were going and she reminds me not to fight with anybody no matter how tempted I am and I told her have heard her. I decided to go take my bath and change into a comfy dress. I was in my bathroom and was about to take my bath as I removed my diaper when I noticed there was no single drop of blood on the diaper. I wanted to scream and called my mom but I held myself back and said:” Anisha, don’t be too excited What if it just stopped for a while? Don’t raise your hopes up just give it time and see if it’s coming back ” I thought to myself and calm myself down. After taking my bath, I decided I won’t put on any diaper to see if I am going to get stain so I decided I won’t go to the office again.

I was so happy within myself that the bleeding stop even if it’s for a while at least I still have a glimpse of hope that I am getting healed. I came out of my room after dressing up and heads to the living room. I met my mum sitting on the couch in the living room with her face glued to the TV but praying silently with a rosary in her hand. I sat beside her and she asked me:” Are you not going to work again?”.

” I am not going again maybe tomorrow ” I replied as I sit comfortably beside her. She looked at me and tried to guess why I changed my mind because she knows I don’t play with my business but I just smiled at her as I concentrated on the show displayed on the TV. I went into the bathroom every minute to check if my pant is stained but they’re always sparkling white and I could jump for joy. I never knew my mum has been noticing how I go and come out of the bathroom every minute and came back to sit beside her. I don’t know if it was the twentieth times or more than that because I couldn’t count again and I was about to go into the bathroom again when my mum held me back and said:” This is becoming something else Anisha, are you bleeding more than before? ” She asked me with concern written all over her face.

I looked at her trying to control my tears and said:” Mum, I am not bleeding again. It has stopped “.

” Are you serious? ” My mum asked me trying to confirm if I was saying the truth.

” Mum, it has stopped, ” I said and pull off my dress and pant in front of her making me n***d. She looked at my pant and when she noticed there was no single drop of blood on it she went on her knees and rolled on the floor thanking God as tears of joy streamed down her eyes. That day was so emotional for my mum and me as we keeping thanking God for his mercy upon us. We called the Sheu and told him that my bleeding has stopped and he thanked God and said Allah Akbar (God is great). We ended the call after he prayed for us and told us to change our prayer routine and start thanking God.

On the seventh day, we went to the Sheu’s place and the prayer went vehemently well as the deliverance was carried on both my mum and me. One year later, It was just as if after the deliverance God opened all the closed doors for me. My company flourished and blossom well as I now had two other branches in Lagos and Ibadan. I made sure to donate three million nairas to the house of God every year because I made more than that and I gave the Sheu a new brand car and built a big mosque for him even though he rejected it at first but I told him it was my way of showing appreciation for what God has done for me through him. I was now closer to God that I seek his direction before taking any decision in my life and my five daily prayers were always intact. My mum was now living with me in Abuja and we have both decided to go to Lagos the following week to ask for forgiveness from my best friend and a sister to me (Bimpe). I missed her so much and I just can’t wait to have her back in my life. I showed my gratitude to Stella because without her I wouldn’t have found the healing I needed, I tried to set up a business for her but she told me she would love to continue working with me so I made her my company’s managing director.

Despite all my Wealth, I still have a void which makes me unhappy because I didn’t see any suitors coming again and I have told the Sheu several times without number anytime I called him on phone but his reply was that: “I should be patient that my husband is coming “.

“Mummy, I think I will have to opt for adoption this time around because who is going to inherit all my Wealth when am gone, ” I told my mom with a hint of sadness in my voice as we were both seated in the dining room eating.

“God forbid, Why are you losing hope, Anisha?” Who told you that you won’t have your child. I gave birth to you and definitely by the special Grace of God you too will give birth to your own child ” My mum told me as she stopped eating and face me.

” When? Mummy, when? I am going to clock forty in two years to come and you think I shouldn’t lose hope? Who will want to marry me at this age and even if I see someone it’s probably going to be a married man because no single man will ever want to marry a woman in her late thirties, they would rather go for someone younger. I wonder why God gave me all this Wealth without a husband or child to call my own ” I told my mom as hot tears streamed down my face.

” Stop crying Oko mi (My dear), I know God has a better plan for you, ” My mum told me and consoled me as she wipes her tears too.

SIX MONTHS LATER

I have finally lost hope of having a husband talkless of having a child of my own so I made sure to bury myself into my business and donate money to the orphanages and give alms to the poor every year so I won’t wallow in self pity. Bimpe and I already reconciled after we went to ask for her forgiveness. We both cried in each other’s arms that day as if our life depended on it, my mum asked for her forgiveness and she hugged her and said she totally understand and forgave my mum too. We went back to our friends and picked up from where we stopped and she was so happy for me that I finally found the salvation I needed.

Everything was going on well until one day when one of the most popular manufacturing companies that supply us fabrics decided to hold our orders after paying millions of nairas to get them because their company got the best and quality fabrics. I was mad because I had called them countless times without a number but either they gave me one stupid excuse or the other so I decided to visit their company. What annoyed me most was when I got information from one of the manufacturing worker who was close to me that my orders were ready but he doesn’t know why his superiors didn’t release them. He was even the one who told me that their CEO is now in the town because he is always known to fly out of the country every week so I have never got to see him.

I decided to go to the company maybe I might have the chance to see their CEO. I got there very early in the morning and told the reception I would like to see their CEO so I can complain about how incompetent his workers were.

She tried to beg me but I was adamant about seeing their boss because I was creating a scene already. A call came through her intercom, she picked it up and I could see how she trembled as she was asked by the caller why I was creating a scene. She explained to the person and she was told to escort me to the first floor. She shot me a glare after the call ended but I didn’t mind because I already got what I wanted and not many people knew I was the rich woman Forbes listed in their magazine because I don’t dress to kill and I am hardly on makeup unless I have a board meeting or events where I would be seen by the paparazzi.

The receptionist and I both headed to the elevator, we walked into it and my eyes widened when I looked at the button and realized there are 100 floors in the building. I guess the man who owned this company is a trillionaire. The receptionist hit the top button and the elevator started to go up. After a few minutes, we reached the top. We walked out of the elevator and it was quieter up here than downstairs and everywhere smells of money. The receptionist walked up to a desk and I tagged along with her. She greeted a lady who was busy typing on the computer in front of her who I guess to be in her mid-twenties.

She looked up and said:” Is she the one?” She asked the receptionist and she nodded her head in accordance.

” You can go back to your post, I will handle it from here,” She told the receptionist and she shot me another glare before heading back to the elevator and if the look could kill, I should be dead by now.

” I am sorry ma’am, the CEO would love to see you and see to your complaint. please follow me, ” She told me with all smiles and I smiled back at her because she was nice. I cautiously followed her and we reached the door that had a plaque of CEO boldly written on it. She knocked on the door and a computer voice replied “Come in”. She opened the door for me and left me to it as she walked back to her desk. I walked in and saw a man standing at his window looking over the city.

“Good morning,” I said expecting him to reply to my greeting and face me so he can acknowledge me being in his office with him but he didn’t respond. I scoffed at his rudeness and decided to say what I came for. I was busy ranting about how incompetent his workers are and how they didn’t release my orders for me after paying. I kept talking and talking and I lost my patient when he didn’t respond to all my complaints as his back was still turned at me. I walked up to him and tapped him lightly on his shoulder and said:” Now I know where your workers got their…… I was unable to finish my sentence when he turned to look at me and I came face to face with someone I never expected to see and my bag fell from my hand in shock as I covered my mouth.

GUESS WHO SHE SAW?
