It was just 2am in the morning, my eyes were glued to my phone texting swiftly with so much excitement on my face in a 2go chat room. I know I was supposed to be in bed but the nasty conversation in that group was just too interesting and I became fixated on my phone. I didn’t even notice that my mother was standing beside me raging in anger as she stamped her feet on the floor.
In a split of seconds my room light turned on and there I finally noticed her presence, I quickly tried to hide my phone but she had caught me red handed.
“Lisa so you have wings to hold on to that phone since you came back from school, up till this time you are still pressing your phone”, my mother scolded.
“Mom is just browsing out my assignment online”, I lied.
“You think you are smart, you think I don’t know what you are doing. Do you think I was born yesterday? Now if you know what is good for you better turn that phone off and go to bed”, my mother said angrily.
“Mom please I need some privacy, I told you I was browsing my assignment online. I can’t stop now I need to finish it”, I replied while I rolled my eyes at my mother.
The next thing I heard was a loud sound from her palm resting on my face, I can’t believe my mother just slapped I said to myself.
“Mom how did you slap me?”, I asked without fear.
“I will do it again if you won’t learn to respect and obey me”, she replied walking out of the room.
“Ahhhhhh! My face is hurting…. Ahhhhhh!”, I shouted. I had to pretend like I was crying to alert the attention of my father who was having a peaceful sleep after a stressful day at work.
In less than two seconds I could hear my father scolding my mother, I could hear how he bounced on her across my room. I came out of my room pretending to be in pains so my dad could comfort me, he rushed to me and gave me a warm hug.
“Am so sorry my little angel, don’t worry your mother won’t lay her hands on you ever again as long as I live”, my father said as her rubbed my face trying to calm the pain.
My mother stood there in anger watching I and my father, I could see the pain in her eyes. I gave her an evil smirk letting her know her place, next time she wouldn’t try to hit me again.

The next day I prepared for school, I was late because I was up all night texting online. I reluctantly took my school bag after after I was done dressing up, I saw my father and mother having breakfast but I didn’t want to eat knowing it was prepared by mother.
I greeted my father and didn’t even look at my mother’s face, she had a little bruises on her face due to the beating my father gave early this morning for the slap she gave me.
“My angel won’t you have breakfast before leaving for school?”, My father asked, sounding concerned.
“No dad am late for school”, I replied rolling my eyes in disgust at my mother.
“Alright, be safe”, my father said.
He gave me a kiss on my forehead, I left the house heading to school. My mind was happy due to how my father defended me, mother always feels she could hit me. To her it’s a sign of discipline, to me it’s an act of abuse.
I am the only child of my family, I should be treated like an egg just the way my father treats me but my mother is just strong headed, she would heed to simple instructions
