30 Days in The Brothel Episode Eight

There are some things that happen to people in life that make them to start questioning their sanity. They will start asking themselves if they are mad or mentally okay. This was the situation that Ndu found himself. He was starting to question his sanity. He has been through a lot since the past few days. His head was turning and spinning like a roller coast. He has lost a lot of weight. The discovery he made about the pastor being the one who kidnapped his wife was shocking. It made him to almost have a heart attack.

He was still in his room, planning and thinking of how to go about contacting the police. Ndu sat in his small living room, staring at the bundle of cash in front of him. His heart pounded heavily in his chest as the realization of the truth settled in like a drop of water. The pastor who his spiritual father was the mastermind behind his wifeโ€™s kidnapping. He clenched his fists in anger, feeling betrayed and foolish for trusting the man so blindly. He felt that he had trusted the pastor with too much. This was a huge mistake. The pastor even had the audacity to fool him that he did a miracle to bring out money from nowhere. He decided to take a drastic action against him.

“I must report this to the police immediately,” he said to himself, grabbing his phone. With a sense of urgency, Ndu hurried to the police station. When he arrived, he was directed to the officer in charge of kidnappings and fraud. He narrated everything. The supposed kidnapping of his wife, the ransom he paid, and how he had just discovered that the money given to him by the pastor was the same money he had handed over as ransom. The officer listened attentively, nodding at intervals.
“Are you sure of this?” The police officer asked. He was shocked. He has been dealing with cases of kidnapping before but he has never heard a case of a pastor conniving with someone to defraud a church member. It was shocking to him. It was strange to his ears.

“Yes, sir. Iโ€™m very sure of what Iโ€™m saying. I know the money I gave to the kidnappers. It cannot be a coincidence that the pastor of my church will end up having the same money I paid as ransom. I marked each note with ink before giving it to the kidnappers. This is the same money. I swear, sir, I am not making this up,” Ndu insisted.

The officer exchanged glances with his colleagues. “This is serious. If what you are saying is true, then your pastor is the real kidnapper. We need to act fast before he disappears with the money.”
The police quickly mobilized a team of officers, including plainclothes detectives, to follow Ndu to the pastorโ€™s house. They moved cautiously, ensuring that the pastor wouldnโ€™t be alerted before they got to him.

When they arrived at the grand residence of the pastor, they found his gate wide open. It seemed like he wasnโ€™t expecting any trouble. He was still spending the remaining money he made from Ndu. Ndu pointed at the house. “Thatโ€™s his house, sir. Thatโ€™s where he lives.” Ndu said.

The officers approached the house quietly and knocked on the door. A young man, one of the pastorโ€™s assistants, opened the door.

“Good afternoon, officers. How can I help you?” he asked nervously.

“We are here to see Pastor,” the lead officer replied. The compound was so large. The pastor has made a lot of money from crime and he used it to be a large house for himself. He lives in wealth and opulence.

“He is in his study. Let me inform him,” the young man said, trying to close the door slightly. He knew the pastor was not a straightforward man. He knew the pastor was into crime, so he was trying to rush and tell him to escape but the police officers were prepared.

“No need. If you try anything rash, we will arrest you as well. We will go in ourselves,” the officer said, pushing the door open and stepping inside with full force. The young assistant stepped back, terrified.

The police stormed into the house and found the pastor sitting in his study, counting wads of cash. He looked up, surprised to see them. He never knew that one day, his crime would be discovered. For many years, the pastor has been involved in all manner of treachery but it looks like his cup was full.

“What is the meaning of this? Why are you in my house? Iโ€™m a man of God. Donโ€™t you have respect for a servant of God like me?” the pastor asked angrily.

“You are under arrest for kidnapping and fraud,” the officer announced, showing him an arrest warrant.

“Kidnapping? Fraud? This is ridiculous! I am a man of God! Who led you here and who told you such a lie? I have never done crime and Iโ€™m not known to do such a thing.” the pastor protested.

“Save that for the judge. Ndu here has provided evidence that this is the same money he gave to the kidnappers. It is either you kidnapped his wife or you are working with those who kidnapped her. Or you have something to do with her disappearance. The money you are looking at is enough proof.โ€ The officer said, pointing at the bundles of cash on the table.

The pastorโ€™s face changed instantly. He knew there was no way out. The police handcuffed him and led him out of the house. As they stepped outside, neighbors gathered, shocked to see their highly respected pastor being taken away by the police.

“Pastor! What happened?” some people asked in confusion.
Ndu watched as the man who had deceived him was placed into a police vehicle.
“Your wife will also be investigated. She was part of this plan. Do you have any idea where she might be?” the officer asked Ndu.

โ€œI have no idea. The pastor should know about this.โ€ Ndu said.

โ€œWhere is his wife?โ€ The police officers asked the pastor.

“The last place I knew she was staying is at a brothel.” The pastor responded.
The officer raised an eyebrow. “A brothel? This case is getting more interesting. Letโ€™s go and arrest her too.”

Watch out for episode nine.
