30 Days in The Brothel Episode Seven
So far, Kate has spent over 25 days at the brothel and she was becoming very restless. She was no longer comfortable with the game being played by the pastor. Out of the N4 million that her husband brought to them, the pastor took everything and she did not get even one kobo from it. She was very angry. The pastor insisted that the money belonged to him, noting that Kate would take the outstanding N1 million if her husband brings it. He took the bag of money home and Kate has not even seen him at the brothel since then. She was so angry.
Meanwhile the prospects of her husband seeing the N1 million still being demanded by the pastor was very low. He has borrowed from all sources and there was no one who was ready to borrow him again. The whole thing sank him into deep debts. He would be paying a lot debts for many months to come because he borrowed a lot of money to make up the N4 million that he took to the kidnappers. Yet, the money was still not enough. After they demanded for the remaining N1 million, he started running around again but he did not see money.
The pastor kept calling Ndu and making threats to kill his wife if he fails to deliver the remaining money to the kidnapers. Ndu had no idea that his pastor was actually the kidnapper who joined hands with his wife Kate to manipulate him. The pastor have stopped going to the brothel and he was concentrating on enjoying the money he had collected from Ndu. He had no plans of going back to Kate. He has used her to get N4 million and decided to abandon her at the brothel.
One day, Ndu paid a visit to the pastorโs office to solicit for more prayers about his wife who he still has not seen. He also asked the pastor to pray for him so that he will see the remaining N1 million to give to the kidnappers so that they would release his wife for him. He said he has done all he could and he did not get the remaining money and the deadline given to him by the kidnappers had passed. Ndu lamented that he does not even know if anything harmful has happened to his wife already.
โI donโt even know if they have already killed her. They are still calling me but I have not been able to raise the remaining N1 million. I have borrowed so much that no one is ready to borrow me again. All my family and friends have done their best. They have done all they could to help me and there is nothing more left. As I speak to you, I have fallen into a lot of debt. I sold my car and everything of value in my house to be able to raise the N4 million. I have done my very best and all I need now is the mercy of God to help me and rescue my wife.โ Ndu said tearfully. He was crying.
โI donโt know why this kind of problem befell me. I donโt know why my wife was kidnapped. I have never dreamt it that one day, I will be the one running around to look for ransom to pay to kidnappers. These are things I used to hear in the news. I did not know it will ever happen to me. The whole problem have scattered my life and turned me upside down. I have not gone to work since this problem started. Iโm not even able to concentrate and think well since my wife disappeared. Her absence is affecting me so much. Iโm so restless and tired of the whole problem. How I wish God would just solve this problem for me. Pastor please pray for me. I need a miracle right now.โ Ndu said with tears in his eyes.
The pastor is a very mischievous person who likes to exploit situations like this for his personal gains. He decided to use the whole situation to grow his reputation and ministry. He decided to give Ndu N1 million. But he was going to make it appear as if it was a miracle.
โI will pray for you right now and you will receive N1 million to give to the kidnappers. God have told me that he is going to help you today. N1 million is going to appear here right now after my payers. Just go outside for a while let me consult with God in spirit.โ The pastor said. Ndu obeyed him happily and went outside the office.
When Ndu was outside, the pastor dipped his hand in the bag of money which Ndu had brought earlier and removed N1 million from the remaining cash. He has been spending from the money and it was remaining a few millions. He then called Ndu back into the office after a while.
โI said some prayers and God has provided you with N1 million. You are indeed blessed. On Sunday, you will come to church to give a testimony that I prayed for you and money appeared miraculously when you needed it the most.โ The pastor said. Ndu was very happy and surprised at the same time. He agreed to give the testimony.
โOh my God! Iโm so happy right now. Pastor thank you very much. I donโt know what I would have done without you. You have rescued me. Let me rush and give the money to the kidnappers so that they will release my wife.โ Ndu said as he rushed out of the room. When he got home, he opened the money. He was surprised to see that it was the same money he gave to the kidnappers. He knew because he used ink to mark each note. Even though he did not inform the police, he had taken steps to make it easy to catch the kidnappers if need be.
โThis is the money I gave to the kidnappers. Does it mean the pastor is working with the kidnappers? I have to inform the police immediately.โ Ndu said to himself.
