30 Days in the Brothel Episode Six
Ndu went home with confusion in his head. He did not know if the kidnappers will release his wife or not. He did not know if they have opened the bag of money and discovered that it is not complete. He was not given any chance to explain himself when he went to give them the money. There was no way he would know what to expect next. He did not have the phone number of the kidnapers. He had no way of contacting them to know if he could come and pick his wife. He was just confused, sad and angry.
โI donโt even know what is going to happen next. The worse is that they did not even give me a number to call. They did not even tell me if they were going to release my wife or not. I have no idea what they are thinking after opening the bag of money and finding out that it is not up the N5 million they asked me to bring. They should have allowed me to talk. Maybe, I would have begged them to release my wife with the N4 million I took to them. But now, I donโt even know how to think. Iโm just so sad and angry.โ Ndu said in his heart. He was in his room alone.
โI have been reading news of people killed by kidnappers even after the payment of ransom. I hope my wifeโs situation will not be the same? I hope these people will not kill my wife. I donโt want to lose my wife to the kidnappers. I never imagined that one day, I will be in this kind of situation where my wife will be kidnapped and I will be looking for her. God please help me. Let this cup pass me by. Let my wife not die. Give her a second chance to live.โ Ndu said.
Ndu was constantly looking at his phone and checking to see if the kidnappers would call him. Each time the phone beeps, he springs to his feet to check to see if it was the kidnappers that were calling him. He continued checking his phoneโs screen but no call came from the kidnappers. He was so apprehensive. His heart was beating very fast and he was afraid that he might soon have a heart attack.
Ndu entered the kitchen and brought out a bottle of cold water from the fridge and poured it on his head so that he would cool off. His head was hot and he was sweating as if he has been running a marathon. His eyes had turned red due to a prolonged period of crying. He was so tired but he was restless. He was in the kitchen, pacing around the floor as if he was searching for the solution to the problem at hand. Something told him to call the police but he was afraid of what the kidnappers would do. They had warned him sternly not to bring the police into the matter.
โThey said they will kill my wife if I informed the police. They had warned me not to involve any security agency. I donโt know if I should go and tell the police. But what if the kidnappers find out and decide to kill my wife? I donโt want to do something that will make them angry. Already, I donโt know what will happen because of the shortage of N1 million in the money they asked me to bring. I donโt know if that will make them angry already. I donโt know if they have even taken any drastic action that would harm my wife. I donโt want to involve the police and complicate the whole matter.โ Ndu said in his heart.
Night was fast approach. The time was 6pm. Ndu has not heard anything from the kidnappers. He was deeply worried. Not even a call to let him know that they got the money. He decided to call his pastor to ask for prayers again. He dialed the pastorโs number on his phone.
โPastor, the kidnappers contacted me and asked for a ransom of N5 million. I was able to raise N4 million for them. I have gone to give them the money but I have not heard from them. They have not even called me again. I donโt know if they are angry that I did not complete the money. I donโt know if they have harmed my wife. And I donโt want to involve the police. They said if I involve the police, they will kill her. Please, pray for me so that they will release my wife safely. I need your prayers now more than ever.โ Ndu said over the phone.
Ndu had no idea that the same pastor he was calling was the one responsible for what was happening to him. He had no I idea that his pastor was the one who told Kate to scam her husband by telling him she has been kidnapped. He had no idea that the money he raised was with the pastor.
โOh! Child of God. God will protect your wife. I assure you that she will come out safely from the kidnappersโ den. Nothing will happen to her. The Bible said God will protect his own from harm. No harm shall come your wifeโs way. Just expect that she will return home safely. If I be a man of God, your wife shall be released to you safely.โ The pastor prayed over the phone. The pastor was in the brothel with Kate when Nduโs call came in. When he was done praying for him, he dropped the phone and started laughing.
โAre you enjoying the whole show? Your husband will never cheat on you again. I told you he will look for the money. He brought N4 million. That is not enough. We are going to call him back and tell him to produce the remaining N1 million or we will kill you.โ The pastor said. He picked up his phone, hid his number and called Ndu. The pastor changed his voice as usual.
โWe are the kidnappers. We have seen the money you brought and it is not enough. Look for the remaining N1 million and bring for us, or just forget about your wife. We will kill her. You have from now till tomorrow morning.โ The pastor said.
